Gran Turismo 5 Prologue 002

I’m blogging today with some awesome news! Today SCEA released more information about the North American version of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, scheduled for launch on PS3 in April. These new details include the full vehicle roster, the track list and some cool additional features. You can read all the nitty-gritty details in the press release, but here is a brief summary and some new screens shots. Enjoy!

Summary of differences between Japanese version and the American version:

  • A whopping 30+ additional vehicles (compared to the Japanese version), including tuner cars from Amuse, Mine’s, etc.
  • Another track to race on: an all-time favorite in the series – frantic and chaotic High Speed Ring!
  • In Drift Mode, measure your drifting technique based on driving line, angle and speed within scoring zones on the course
  • With the Quick Tune feature, adjust your vehicle’s settings including power, weight, tires and suspension
  • All new set of online and offline race events and time trials to jump into, win, and unlock cars/features
  • With Logitech’s new Driving Force GT racing wheel, you can adjust brake bias, traction and damper settings on-the-fly like they do in real-life with Formula One and rally cars. GT5 Prologue will support DualShock 3, too!

  • Wow this game looks beautiful. I normally don’t buy racing games/sims, but I might have to pick this up for the eye-candy factor alone.

  • This game is gorgeous

  • i dont want anymore details, i just want the game!!
even a demo would make me happy.. TODAY

  • Prologue is shaping up to be much more than just a “demo”. No demo in the history of demos has ever been this extensive.

These are extremely impressive new features already added to a pretty solid good set.

    I’m sold.

Retail version only for me :)

  • I am amazed at how good this looks. I will say as a matter of my opinion that it is still too expensive for a portion of the entire GT5 game. I am not the hugest die hard fan of the series though.

Also the images are set to private. please open them up so I can view all the little details ;) .

  • This has to be the best looking game for the PS3 to date. The GT5: Prologue demo is awesome!

  • Awesome news!
I am buying this day 1!!!!

  • man I’m getting closer and closer to getting this game, but it just doesn’t seem like enough tracks to me. Will we be able to upgrade to the full GT5 next year with just 20 dollars? Or will we have to spend the full 60 after paying 40 for this?

  • Awesome!!! It looks so good I would have bought it with one car and one track! Can’t wait!

  • Racing the legendary Ferrari F40 in a Gran Turismo game is finally a dream coming true. Thanks Polyphony and thanks Kazunori Yamauchi! :)

  • Gregero,

Yeah, I have been wondering that as well… Answers anybody?

  • high speed ring?!?! yes!

    love the graphics

  • Polyphony Digital are perfectionists in their game design and their products have always shown this. I’ve already ordered this from Amazon.com.. this is what the PS3 is ALL ABOUT.

  • This is awesome! I skipped the last few GT games because they lacked any good US sports cars, and if they had them the dev team seemed to make them suck hard. I hope the Saturn Sky makes a showing! I love that car! It’s sleek, modern and has a vary nice powerful engine under the hood!

  • Great news! Thanks so much Imasaki-san!!

  • Thanks for fixing the images, I was just about to comment on that. The game is looking more and more amazing each day. I already pre-ordered it, so I’ll be enjoying this on day one.

  • Thanks Jeff! and damn its even better looking than I thought!

  • Great News, but what about the EU version of the game, anyone knows if it will contain the split screen, tuning and new race modes?!

    Thank You
a humble PS3 user from Hungary

  • What happened to GT for PSP?

  • This will be my first racing game (if I don’t get Burnout first). And a Logitech’s Driving Force GT racing wheel $150. I can’t wait!! I hear about $40 US for the game, right??

  • I have the Japanese version, but I can’t wait for this one to hit. The added features and assets are just icing on the gravy for an already great package! Nice job guys!

  • That’s pretty nice. Extremely good looking and looks like there’s plenty for those that had the patience to wait for the US version. Sadly, I probably shouldn’t get this since racing games bring out the worst in me, mood-wise. Same story for fighting games. :-(

By the way, when I’m on my PS3 I have trouble reading the mod(red background) comments when they’re black text. Just thought I’d throw that out there.

  • These screenshots are absolutely mind-blowing!

  • 2 PLAYER-SPLITSCREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • how much is the download from the store going to be?I know it 40 dollars from retail but i havent heard how much it will be from the playstation store,

  • And YET again, Sony totally excludes a whole continent…

“Summary of differences between Japanese version and the American version:”

    HELLO. What about Europe…

Either of these statements would have worked.

“Summary of differences between Japanese version and the American and European versions:”

“Summary of differences between Japanese and European versions and the American version:”

Some times I feel Sony simply have no clue…

  • Excellent news, but can you tell us if the JPN version of the game will be patched to reflect these features?

  • Isn’t a difference also the two-player splitscreen… or was that in the Japanese version?

  • @27

They have European details at the Three Speech Blog.
    http://threespeech.com/blog/?p=925

Which makes no mention of the American version. Perhaps they want European consumers to go there for their info and American consumers to come here for their info??

Anyways I can’t wait although I wish there was a Dual Shock 3 GT 5 Prologue Bundle kinda like the Blu-Ray disc version of Warhawk with a Headset.

  • Question: any news on supporting other steering wheels or are the rumours about ONLY supporting this one Logitech wheel true?

Also, any news on a release date for the full version of the game? Is this to tide us over for 6 months or a year or two?

The Japanese demo was beautiful and played really well on my 1080i TV.

  • I cannot wait. I have the demo off of the Japan Store, it is amazing. The new screens look even better, i think they have been tweaking towards Gran Turismo 5, and this installmanet is just a reflection of that. Thanks for the two player split screen! this will be so fun, any news of Home Integration? I see visions of a showroom full of cars, maybe a track to “Rent” cars or go-carts? i would hang out there all day :)

  • I have that problem on my PC as well. But I want have a list of US Sports cars that will make a showing in the game, I hope the fallowing will be there:

Saturn Sky, Why you may ask? it rocks! Also why is there no Infinite? Those are two of some of the best and newest sports cars on the market in the US and you never even placed them in game? Lame!

  • Nicely done. The graphics look amazing! I’ll have to try this game out for sure. Excellent job. Keep up the good work sony.

  • Look Japanese friends, Yanks and Euros pay the same, but get an extra track and 20 new cars. A dozen languages, new options, split-screen and new races.

    Haha!

Seriously, better update the Japanese game so every region has the same stuff.
And online better not be region locked. In this day and age, online gamers have friends all over the planet…and want to play against those friends.

  • will this game support
    custom soundtracks
and access 2 the friends list

  • Jeff Rubenstein!!!!!!!! Jeff Rubenstein!!!!!!!!!!!

Will there be a photo mode like in GT4 for Prologue?

  • Yes! Now, this is what I’m talking about. Great update!

Also, Jeff, glad to see you’re feeling better.

  • So the Japanese version will be inferior to the US version. Are you frickin’ serious Sony? Wow, thanks a [DELETED] lot, I and about a hundred thousand Japanese people paid the same amount of money for a gimped version. I truly hope the J version is going to get an update because this is going to make a lot of people angry. Wakarimashitaka?

  • *drools*

  • TwoBlack4America

This game is definitely going to be worth 40 dollars.

  • The fact that they are releasing a Prologue of GT5 just screams that the real game won’t make it out this year.$40 for barebones eye candy? Make it $20 and I’m sold.

  • Enjoy paying for a demo guys.

  • @Zorox,
Enjoy spending your time being negative on the internet.

  • The final version of GT5 better have the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro or there will be a Transformer sized uprising.

  • @kinglink
This generation if you havent noticed prices are higher. And people are not obligated to buy it. its for those who want to get a true taste of what the final game will be. Im not happy about it either, but im just saying.

  • I can’t wait for the full version to come out!

  • I laugh at anyone complaining about price. Everybody wants everything for free. This “prologue” is bigger than most full racing games and people still complain. That’s fine, continue to be cheap while everyone else enjoys this game until the full version comes out, I know I will as I’ve been playing the Japanese version for well over a month now and been loving every enjoyable second of it. In fact, this game is so good that I’ve already prepaid for the NA version just to see everything in English.

  • sorry this is not the best looking game for the ps3 to date…

This is the best looking game ever created…so far…

  • This only makes me wonder what happened to the PSP GT all the more, here’s to a portable out next!
