  • Found my answer, “On April 15th for Xbox 360 and April 24th for Playstation 3 (since their submission office has been closed for two weeks and we couldn’t send them the files) , we will be releasing Mötley Crüe’s new single “Saints of Los Angeles”. This will make the Crüe the first ever band to release a single through our game.”

  • @149

From my perspective, yes, it is a bad update because it did not give me what I wanted. I’m happy other people are wholly satisfied with it, but your logic that I should just be happy that other people are happy, keep my mouth shut, and hope blindly that Sony simply fixes at some far flung point in the future despite my having done exactly that for a year now makes no sense to me. if you do not like the “bickering” then why are you helping to stoke it by continuing to respond to my replies? Just ignore me, is that so hard? The bickering started when people like you felt the need to harass other users who were saying their peace about the update. It’s on you and others like you to bring it to an end.

  • Also, just to rub salt in the wounds, Japan got THREE new PSone games today.

  • @151

Wow, seriously, they wouldn’t even take submissions? That’s kinda lame.

Will anyone from Sony finally read and answer my questions about why you can’t put content up when it arrives?

I don’t see the harm now that you have a blatant ‘new content’ section and you could clearly put the image up on the main page for a day or two before you get the real weekly update.

Is it really too much to ask that we get content on time with other consoles? At the very least you could try and defend yourselves or point me to an article that explains it.

  • Again great job on the store design, it’s great… I also agree that the PS3 should have a time posted like the PSP….

To all who complain about updates!!!! STOP please!!! Why do you constantly complain? What, do you really think that every week can be amazing? It’s great enough to have weekly updates like this period.

Mind you this week has been packed with info and releases…

    GTP5P
    MGO
    LAIR addon
    Warhawk add-on
    Wicked new store
    EURO Demo

Was it really a bad week?

  • Well, constructive or not, its nice to see such passion behind the PS Network.

I for one would love a deluge of content. I understand that quality>quantity but I am in agreement that more catalog content is definatley needed.

I think the problem is, Sony never anticipated the response (very posative) to d/l content. Even if they did, it was grossly underestimated.

I believe that they are playing catch-up, and right now simply don’t have enough ready to satiate the hardcore gamres(us).

I won’t make any excuses for PS1 games, they really should just organize it with the companies and make it happen. Castlevaina SoTN made it, why can’t others?

  • I WANT CALL OF DUTY MAP PACKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol not really… GT5 PWNS ALLz

  • Randolph, I am NOT harassing. I’m not upset by these things at all. Just because the Japanese store is getting stuff, doesn’t mean we’re getting screwed over. It always seems as if whenever Sony updates something, people can NEVER say ‘Well okay, they did that, so hopefully things will turn out better later on’. Every time I come here, I hear complaint after complaint. I come here for news and that’s all I hear.

I have a right to voice my opinion as much as you think you should voice yours concerning Sony.

AND THANK YOUR SCORPIO. That’s what I was TRYING to say. All of this stuff came out and yet people are STILL making it sound as if Sony is sitting on their hands or something.

I think the store could have had more, but this beating on a dead horse. People need to calm down and chill the hell out already.

  • @156

I was saying that for a while now, reson8er. Like, you had Silent Hill Origins released on PSP, it is a prequel to the original PSone game. Imagine how cool it could have been for people new to the series, if after they beat it, they could go to the store and download Silent Hill, and put it on their PSP, and see what happens next. they can do so mch with this feature to enhance the overall Playstation experience on both PS3 and PSP, and it really is frustrating to see them pass on such a golden opportunity, especially when they absolutely refuse to comment on it.

  • Cod4 map packs? No. Sucks.

  • @ Randolph – you are the very definition of a troll. you’re an xbox 360/microsoft fan for life and you prove it time and time again with each post on this blog. you are new here (i’ve never seen you on here since the opening of this blog) and all you’re trying to do is start a flame war. if you don’t mind please leave and stop posting here. youre just another number on a page filled with posts. I can tell that you probably don’t even have a playstation. and if you do i feel bad for it. stop trolling this blog.

    thanks in advance.

On topic, kind of a weak update after 2 weeks of no content but thanks for the themes and broken mirror.

    peace,
    Lh

  • nice update, getting money for the warhawk bundle now.

  • @155

People are complaining because complaints they filed months ago still have not been commented on, least of all dealt with. If you are sick of the complaining, your problem is with Sony, not us. We WANT to be happy with the store. As for was it “really a bad week”, to me, yes it was.

GT5p’s downloadable version has hamfisted DRM.

The MGO beta is a mess, more ID’s? Take my beta code and shove it, Konami.

Lair add on? Great, but lair is still sixty dollars, has no demo on my store, and has universal negative feedback. Pulling the trigger on that one on faith isn’t reasonable, not at sixty bucks, anyway.

I just don’t own Warhawk, and have no desire to own it, I am very light in my online gaming, and see single player as more important, which Warhawk doesn’t have.

New store design? It’s great, outside of the slow loading non caching icons, but it’s the same old content I’m just plain not interested in. The old store with more content would have been fine by me.

  • @lakaihigh

I don’t think he’s a troll, the guy just wants someone to say why they are taking so long to bring us Psone games!

all it would take is ONE OFFICIAL REPLY from a red post and I’m sure he would be happy.

It’s just that weeks upon weeks, months upon months, it’s been the same response. silence.

so cut the guy some slack!

We are all PS3 loving peoples, so let’s act like it! An actual COMMUNITY!

    crazy, i know.

  • Holy crap I totally forgot about CoD4 maps…wtf mate?

Ok so now that I understand that Sony’s submission office was closed I’m banking on NEXT week. *crosses fingers*

Don’t screw this up sony, I know it’s supposed to be a big year for you but you gotta keep up the pace every second or you’ll never get there, I know you can do it.

  • @163

Completely agree with every point. Especially the GT5 DRM. WTF has it come to when we pay full price for a game, lose content, AND we HAVE TO BE ONLINE to play it!! What is this?!?! It’s pathetic and I hope no one buys it online just to show Sony that their sh1t won’t work.

  • Very very nice update. I’m loving it.

  • @161

My PSN ID is TenaciousG, my XBL card WAS OtakuScott, if you check out the latter, you will see it hasn’t been active for some time, thats because I sold that system to focus on PS3. If my comments are starting a flame war, i is through no fault of my own, it is entirely your fault, and people like you who think this blog should only be for playstation fanboys, as opposed to being for playstation FANS. (big difference between those two) Like I said before, I could have left it at response #1 if people like you didn’t keep pulling me back in by taking my words out of context and trying to discredit me.

  • It’s sad to see so very little third party content. It’s always some video or some add-on content. No games, no demos. Whose fault is it really? Sony? Third parties?

Honestly, it’s clear that Sony isn’t doing much to get third parties on board the PS3. This explains the lack of PSN games, the lack of exclusives, the lack of RPGs.

  • The MGO issue is NOT Sony’s fault Randolph. Konami probably didn’t expect this situation to happen. There’s no reason to bash either Konami or Sony in this matter.

    And you know what?

It’s hard to ignore you when you’re the one doing THE most complaining on this thread. Honestly, I wish you’d stick with Microsoft because it’s people like you who make me ashamed of being a Sony fan.

  • I just wanted to write this in since I’ve ranted a good bit about this weeks update.

I know you guys are doin’ your jobs and getting done what you can, but my roommates got a 360 and I always have to hear him be all like “haha sucker, look who gets to wait for content”

although he does shut up when I mention how it’ll take 5 dvds if they even hope to get MGS4 and even when multi-discs were in(FF7) I never saw a game w/more than 4 discs…NEVER

so there’s my huzzah for sony…although my fingers are still crossed for next week(yeah i typed with one hand…so what)

  • BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
    WHERES OUR SUPRISE??

  • @158

Like I said, I did hope for the best, for a FULL YEAR. The one year grace period is up, now I’m just plain unhappy with the store, and want results, not excuses, not silence. Japan got three new PSone games today, EU and NA got none. Why?

  • @166

Yeah man, I feel you. The hamfisted DRM BS of the MS platform is one of the main reasons I sold it, I had twenty downloaded games, was on my third console due to RRoD, and when XBL was down the majority of January and early Feb, was simply not allowed to play games I paid good heard earned money for, it was a massive dealbreaker. Now we see that same kind of crap on a major PSN release, and it’s really disappointing.

  • Iron Man demo tomorrow

TVGB: “SEGA has just shot over a little message letting us know that a demo for Iron Man will become available on Xbox LIVE tomorrow. PS3 gamers will have to wait for another day, as the demo is set to arrive on PSN “soon,” likely meaning next Thursday.”

Wow sony why not update on friday or just update daily?

  • “Could you explain to me how saying I am not happy with the update” Randolph @145
“I just wish I was happy with it too, but I’m not” Randolph @110
Dealing with trolls on a everyday basis like yourself Randolph but I enjoy dealing with you guys, you technically liven the blog up sometimes with your continuous rants and whines and so on. Well hopefully randolph you get up to maybe 30 post on why you are “are not happy with it” and then in another 30 post you can continue telling us about it.

The three games the japanese store released athena kateiban are you seriously update about this game {/facepalmslap}, spyro 2 meh, and magical drop f {sigh} why world why. Only thing that would happen if they released this to us is some of you buy it hate it then complain because they didn’t give you lets FF7, (power up the fanboisism) Resident Evil, Street Fighter <insert random number or name) and then until they do “Sony is going down in business and etc” To those who believe ps one games will save a multibillionaire branch of a company yeah you guys got problems.

    –Juben–

  • @170

Where did I say it was Sony’s fault? Link me to me saying that, and please stop putting words in my mouth. I simply listed the reason I decided to pass on the beta, despite having a beta code. If a guy who loves his system, but isn’t afraid to say when and where it could do better makes you “ashamed to be a Sony fan” then you have all your priorities massively mixed up, my friend. Shame isn’t something you should feel over the words on a screen posted by a guy who happens to own the same black plastic box full of wires that you do. it’s a gaming device, it’s JUST a gaming device, get a grip.

  • I heard Iron Man comes out tomorrow on Live. Does that mean we have to wait another damn week to get it? You really need to stop updating once a week Sony and do it when ever you get content. Its getting sad having to wait a week for demos when other systems put them out right away.

  • you could of put CTR you know

  • I own a PSP and love it. I do not own a PS3 and it will probably be a long time before I do. So my option is the PS Store for PC. I can understand not having updates while redesigning everything, but I must say, your update after the hiatus was ridiculous. All you have for us PSP owners is two videos for GTA5. Not all of us PSP owners care! Not all of us have a PS3. So after your hiatus you give us NOTHING.

And you seriously wonder why people go to homebrew?

  • Nice update.

It would be nice to see more classics though, like others have mentioned.

  • @176

My bad, I meant to say “Could explain to me how I am not happy with the PS3 by not being happy with the update” words get mangled sometimes on the interbutts.

As for the rest, I’ve been accused of being a troll for every major platform when I expressed any negative feedback on it, because on blogs like this, the majority of people see any negative views as an assault on the system that is painting it as complete crap, which is illogical nonsense. As for me still responding, dude, you can put an end to that by not taking offense to my honest critique of the update, I have a problem with the lack of support for one feature of the console, not you. Learn to separate the two, you are NOT your game console. :)

  • Super Stardust is 5.99 CAD. Horrible conversion, Sony! Are we using rates from 2006? Or maybe you want to get more money out of your Canadian customers. Very disappointed that these rates are not bing updated. Never-the-less, I bought the add-on because I wanted to support Housemarque. I hope THEY get my extra dollar.

  • Randolph, if it’s JUST a gaming console, then why in the blue HELL are you [DELETED] about online service? If it’s just a gaming console, then you should settle down and quit the complaining.

I never made an indication that you said it was Sony’s fault. I’m saying that it’s neither company’s fault that these things happened with the beta. I held off with the beta because I knew things were going to be hectic. That’s all I said, take it or leave it.

I’m done speaking with you. It’s obvious that you will keep complaining whenever this blog is updating and it won’t change any time soon.

    Good riddance.

  • As for anyone bringing up the quality of the three games japan got…

1- You’ve likely never played two of them.

2- I didn’t list the specific games because the specific games are not the point, the point is they got three new games to choose from, period, whereas we got…. none.

  • @ 178 good point im tired of waitting a week two we should get content all the time whenever it comes out not on a ur scheduel when u want it to come out for us put it in the store right away

  • Does it really take 20+ post to tell us and sony, you have a negative view and I’m pretty sure the people at sony can read and write even on other technical forums/blogs someone who has 15% of the post in a thread (especially a 100+) is either trolling or babysitting the thread. Hopefully the moderators just boot you, but I am enjoying your post so continue on, hopefully you can get to 20% of post maybe 30%. You already have a few post where you posted back to back 173 & 174 and 120 and 121. Come on triple post let the blog gods help randolph.

  • I was really expecting some PS1 games when the store came back. :/ Really is it that hard? Japan gets MGS and we don’t? We’re bigger MGS fans here in the US! At least bring more PS1 rpgs out here!

  • For all of those with MGO beta codes that can’t get them to work:

First, read the directions. You have to go into Account Management, then Transations, and click Redeem Playstation Card or Code.

When you do that, MAKE SURE YOU ENTER ALL CAPS. It is case-sensitive. I just did all of this today and have the beta installed, ready for the 21st.

Great update for PSN, Can’t wait for next weeks though.

  • @186

My continued participation in this thread depends entirely on how much more often you call me back to it, bro. You can’t logically accuse me of trolling the thread when you yourself are the main reason I remain within it. But as you can’t seem to break from this hilarious self defeating loop of “dog chasing his own tail” logic, I’ll do you a favor and not respond to your next reply. You can get the all precious last word in, and claim some hollow internet victory, I’ll continue to post more until I lose interest, as is my right to do within the rules, none of which I have violated. Have a nice life.

  • I get my post removed and Randolf get’s to keep all his. Thank’s Mod’s

  • Can you just get the Rock Band tracks out on Tuesday, then? I’m fine with waiting around for Warhawk content, but it’s kind of lame that 360 players get the songs on time and we get them late.

Buying Rock Band for PS3 instead of 360 was a mistake – one I’ll have in mind when I choose what platform to get GTA IV on.

  • @190

I didn’t break any rules. My name is spelled RandOLPH, btw. Funny thing is, even the computer at works clocks me in as “Randolf”, I just can’t get away from that. :)

  • you know… the bulk of the PS1 games that I want for the downloads are just so I can have them for the psp, not even to play them on my PS3, which brought me to my 2 favorite RPG’s ever… Suikoden 1 and Suikoden 2.

Then I remembered a UMD version of both was slated to come out and had been released in Japan a couple years ago. I reall wish that would come over here, but if not, at the very least, Sony could make happy time talks with Konami to make it part of the PSN downloads…

    Come on!

  • I don’t know about all the whiners who claim no PSone games equal bad PS Store update, but I think this is great! WarHawk bundle and new content, GT5 Prologue, and rock band content, also the fact that Super StarDust HD got another add on pack, and the new Haze video? Plus a good bunch of new themes? Why is that bad? I say your all stuck up, and fikle to get it through your head that they have given a crap load of stuff you wanted to you the customer over and over again and your not even thankful!?

Here are the things Sony has done for you the customer:

    1. You whined that the SIXAXIS had no rumble support, Sony made the new Dual Shock 3 controller that has rumble, and even SIXAXIS Motion sensing.

    2. You whined that the PS3 lacked DTS-Master Audio, Sony gave it to you.

    3. You whined that the PS3 could not convert to the formats you wanted or supported the formats you wanted, Sony agian expanded the PS3 to fill your needs.

    4. You whined that you could have or support custom themes Sony yet again gave them to you.

    5. You whined that the PS3 lacked correct DVD upscaleing features for 1080p, Sony yet a gain gave it to you.

    6. You agian whined that not enough games supported the new Dual Shock 3 controller, Sony forced developers to support it and even orderd them to make patches for games that were already out the door fo you.

    7. You whined over and over about how crapy the PS Store looked, and how it was hard to find things you wanted. Sony yet again did as you the customer asked and rebuilt it for you.

    8. You again asked for more Remote Play features, and Sony gave them too you. ETC…………

Need I list everything Sony has done for you the customer? Try and be more thankful for the support you have now, and not the support you could have if it was another company.

  • Well, to be productive, I guess I’ll post what I would like to purchase as far as PS1 games go.

Games I had and would like to repurchase:

    Armored Core
    Armored Core: Master of Arena
    Armored Core: Project Phantasma
    Breath of Fire III
    Breath of Fire IV
    Bust a Move (Groove) games
    Intelligent Qube
    Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete
    Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete
    Metal Gear Solid
    Monster Rancher
    PaRappa the Rapper
    Parasite Eve
    Persona
    Suikoden
    Suikoden II
    Vandal Hearts
    Vandal Hearts II
Any SE game you can pry from their greedy fingers.

Games I never had but would like to get:

    Grandia
    Monster Rancher 2
    Parasite Eve II
    Persona 2: Eternal Punishment
    Star Ocean: The Second Story
    Thousand Arms
    Wild Arms 2

Based on how happy Grace seemed showing off the new store, I doubt she is even giving the PS1 games a second thought… :(

  • @194

Without that whining, many of those would never have happened, or would have happened much later. “Whiners” get things done, apologists hold us all back.

  • After two weeks not a single PS1 game, or anything that’s actually interesting (If you don’t have warhawk/not interested in racing games). Why have the ESRB rate them if your not going to put them up for download? There’s about 30 plus games they have rated PS1/PS2 that are supposed to be for download, yet nothing.

It’s funny to see the PC store (for the PSP sepcifically) get two lousy PS3 game trailers. Having a revamped store is great but useless if the trend of poop updates continue. I know some like these updates but if you don’t have Warhawk/Rockband and aren’t into racing games what does that leave you?

  • This was kind of a small update i think for 2 weeks of having nothing and this is it. I was just thinking since we waited 3 weeks for one update we would get 3 weeks worth of stuff. This seems maybe about the same as some updates ive seen before.

  • @194
I couldn’t agree more!SONY has yet to let me down, not every update is for me but that doesn’t mean it sux! They can not possably do an updat that truly pleases millions of Ps3 owners every week.I like the themes ,demos ETC..down loadable PS2 game could be cool!!The new store is hella sweet, and only promises to get better. THANX SONY!!! rumble rules—

    XBOX 360 SUX!!!!!!!!!
