Metal Gear Online Beta Patched, Live

152 0

Following the delay of the Metal Gear Online Beta test this past Monday, 04/21/2008, the MGO development team in Japan has done substantial work throughout the week to analyze the issues that occurred, and remedy them to make gameplay available as soon as possible. As some of you may have already noticed, we are pleased to inform you of the following…

The MGO development team has created a patch for the MGO Beta client, bringing it to version 1.02. This patch is intended to resolve and improve any connectivity issues on the client side. The patch is now available through the MGO Beta client. You will additionally need to download and install the 1.01 patch, if you have not already done so, also available through the MGO Beta client.

Additionally, the MGO development team has made significant improvements on the server side, adding more gameplay servers, and also improving the code running on the servers to optimize performance.

With these solutions in place, gameplay of the MGO Beta test has now been made available. Please remember, to compensate for the delay, the Metal Gear Online Beta test gameplay period has been extended a week, now ending on 05/11/2008.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please note that your Metal Gear Online Beta Unique Product Voucher Codes (UPVCs), used to redeem the download of the Metal Gear Online Beta client, will only be valid up until 05/05/2008, so please make sure to redeem them by then.

We would also like to point out that we have created a “simplified” Konami ID “quick registration” form, available at [LINK: http://id.konami.net ], which is required to access and play the MGO Beta. Not only has it been designed to ease any connection issues, but to ease the registration process as well.

Here are the direct notes from the MGO team in Japan:

“We would first like to offer our most sincere apologies to all participants of the METAL GEAR ONLINE PREMIERE BETA test for all inconveniences caused thus far. At the same time, we would like to inform you details of the possible causes of the problem along with the actions we have taken in order to resolve them.

Konami ID

Initial problems were caused by the extraordinary numbers of customers trying to login to the site in order to create a KONAMI ID in order to take part in the beta test. In response, we have increased server capacity as well as creating a separate KONAMI ID registration site specifically for customer wanting to take part in the METAL GEAR ONLINE PREMIERE BETA test.

METAL GEAR ONLINE PREMIERE BETA test

In order to reduce the load on our server, we have implemented a queuing system where the number of players that can login to the server is kept at a certain level over a period of time. Added to this, the client has been updated so that the time out settings when logging in have been relaxed. This may though, lead to a longer wait when trying to login.

At peak times, you may be placed in a queue for places in our server. In such a case, we would like to recommend that you try to login after a period of time.

It was also discovered that connecting to the server on creating and registering your character was very difficult. This again, was due to very high levels of traffic. We have increased server capacity and have also improved both the system performance and the server program in response .

We will be carrying out further improvements between 00:00 on 04/26/2008 with the resumption of the beta test as the game is scheduled to enter full service on 06/12/2008. We would like to apologize once again for all inconveniences caused.”

Once again, Konami would like to apologize for any difficulties experienced, and we offer our deepest thanks for your patience. Your participation in the MGO Beta test, and excitement for the game, is very meaningful to us!

Please stay tuned to konami.com, the PS Blog, the Konami ID site, and Konami Japan’s MGO teaser site for all the latest MGO Beta test status updates.

If you need assistance, please contact Konami support via http://www.konami-data.com/support/ and you can email via mgobetasupport@konami.com

Thank you!

  • can’t wait to get home and login!

hopefully the servers will be open!

  • Very good game so far. I’ve been playing all afternoon, just took a break now.

  • Damn!!!…I figured another problem might arise which would keep the beta from going live and leave my friday night open. Now I have this date with a chick I’d been wanting to hookup wit for so long and I’m actually dreading it. Feels like I’ll be commin’ down with an acute case of “metalgearidis”.

  • Since this is a beta I think you guys would like to have some feedback and I think a lot of us would like to give you some as well.

Where do we give you guys our impressions and feedbacks? Here on the blog or is there a special site for that?

  • Getting this error:

Unable to connect to server. (090B:00000001)

  • I keep getting this error message (090B:00000001) anyone know y?
    Help??

  • Thanks Konami. Can’t wait to get home, today. Should be tons of fun.

  • Thanks for everything! The beta is pretty intense and I’m having a blast playing it. The only thing I would suggest is to refine the controls. Some are pretty complicated.

  • one thing where do we leave our feed back ?
will u guys be listening on ur feed back and use them to improve the games b4 june 12?

  • WIll anyone help us with the:
Unable to connect to server. (090B:00000001) error?
    Please help us!!!!!

  • @44 know what you mean i thought the same thing

  • Konami shouldn’t have released this beta with the condition of their servers.

    Come on Konami! fix this:
Unable to connect to server. (090B:00000001) error
Unable to connect to server. (090B:00000001) error
Unable to connect to server. (090B:00000001) error

  • I am playing with a U.S. account from Israel, I can not log in with my game id and password(it doesn’t get that far) as I keep getting an error

The error is (090B:00000001), and I was told this error means “Servers are Idle, but not available to you”

Am I not being let into the beta because my IP is coming from Israel? If so please tell me so I can’t stop trying to get in. But I heard people in the UK with UK accounts are also getting this error AND people in the US are getting this error as well.

    Someone please help.

  • @ Brandon Laurino // Konami Online

I got my code during the give away thing you had , the account that i have on the ps3 is from USA, but i actually live in the Dominican Republic. after the registration, i got the email about me qualifying for the beta. Right now, I’m getting Error (090B:00000001) while trying to connect to the game. I need to know if due to the fact that I’m not inside of USA, i will not be able to play.
If the answer is yes ( i wont able to play the beta) then i need to know if that also will apply for the full game and why did i qualify on the first place? is not nice to wait all that time only to realize that.

I hope you guys read this question.

    Thanks in Advance

  • i have troubles to connect to servers…. send me an error…

  • This is really annoying me in every way.
I’ve waited for a long time to play it and now I still can’t.
The connection error pisses me off and I’m seriously going to be angry if I can’t play after the promised update between 00:00 (AND WHAT????!!!) on 26/04/2008.
Konami fails at arranging online games.
I’m really, REALLY upset, I hope you hear me Konami.
    Die in a fire.

    Best Regards,
    Kite_DH <3

  • i love it

  • @diablo103

    GOOD FOR YOU

  • Konami I am ashamed of you guys

I am a major MGS fan but this has been enough

I know you wont hear me out but it has to do with the beta

-I pre-order MGS4 LE on gamestop, I get my DVD and code, I input it and all is well, know what? Im from Puerto Rico and for some reason since the beta is region locked, you guys arent allowing us to play

Its not just me, every puerto rican i know is having this problem, Konami we use american servers here in Puerto Rico, get a grip

  • Is there anywhere we can report the good qualities and flaws of MGO?

  • Well, I tried the beta and I know it’s just a Beta at the moment, but I’m a bit disappointed right now. The controls are clunky and need to be adjusted big time. Also, why is it to aim in first person mode I must hold down L1, then Triangle, and then somehow grow an extra hand so I’m able to then aim with the Right Analog stick at the same time, and then press R1 to shoot? This needs to be changed. Otherwise, the concept is great, I did enjoy my matches, but the controls need work and the characters move a bit too slow.

  • Where is the feedback site for MGO? I find it to be extremely satisfying and very engaging, but I do want to know where we can give our thoughts about it at.

  • Yea, I’d like to know how to contact them too, because this is absolute [DELETED].
Why can’t they just find a way to let everybody play?
Even after that weird 2 hour maintenance I find myself not able to play this beta.
    I’m frustrated.

  • Yea, I’d like to know how to contact them too, because this is absolute bull****.
Why can’t they just find a way to let everybody play?
Even after that weird 2 hour maintenance I find myself not able to play this beta.
    I’m frustrated.
thx for ruining my day, konami

  • Wow, still so much complaining.

Great job Konami! The beta is, imo, bloody fantastic. Great gameplay and its a blast to play.

Someone asked this before, but I don’t see a problem asking again; Will our characters from the beta carry over to the retail ‘real’ release of the game? It’ll be nice to have a choice either way :)

    Thanks again Konami!

  • I left the PS3 on all night for the first up date with bit sharing dut it still hasent worked! and i will have to download the second one afterwards still

  • @ak-9977
from what store did you DL it from?

  • Last night, when I was watching “Grey’s Anatomy”, I was downloading the 1.01 update patch. After about TWO HOURS of downloading, I reached 99%. Then all of a sudden I got a NETWORK SERVER ERROR. I just stared at my TV screen for a minute, gazing at those lovely words. My eyes began to twitch. Then I just blacked out. Next thing I know I’m lying in my driveway with my shirt and jeans ripped up and a bullet wound that seemed to have already healed… Yeah, yeah, Ok… Ok … I was pretty pissed.

  • Unable to connect to server.(090B:00000001)
    Can this get any worse?

  • Just respond, address the error, let us know what you’re doing about it, JUST SAY SOMETHING SONY

  • Well, I think we should direct the 090B:00000001 issue to Konami & Kojima Productions.

It’s like no one is here.

  • I have been getting the (090B: 00000001) error ,so i decided to read over the blog post again and it said “At peak times, you may be placed in a queue for places in our server. In such a case, we would like to recommend that you try to login after a period of time. “,could this be the error code that we are getting??if so why not just make it say servers full or get more servers

  • Anyone tried the man-cannon? dude-launcher? guy-hurler? testosterone trebuchet? sorry, that’s enough.

  • I am getting the same code. Konami please help!

  • @86: Thanks for the spam, jerk. Try calling Konami or logging in to the Konami ID site and checking your Game ID password. It’s numbers, don’t forget that.

  • Quit the spamming, it isn’t helping <_<

  • i dont know were ells to add feed back so… first Konami Id is a wast of time I hope in the future u just would use the PSN! because your konami ID it uses a diffrent screen name and i cant play with others friends unless i ask each one what their MGO name is. Every thing is veary complicated a wast of time but what upsets me is why! It dosent do anything the PSN cant do it dose an even pooer job in my opinion. It would be nice to have updates run in the background and not take 7 trys and when it finaly works 3 hours to down load but the second one was much better. I hope that the desiners (cant spell ) would relly take a nother look at using the PSN nettwork and work to intergrat with that insteed of building their own little isolated community.

  • Please, please, please, please take away Game ID and replace it with our existing PSN IDs and friends lists. Please?

  • Stop spamming…Konami doesn’t read here.

This happens because of Konami’s lack of skills in both online support and online games…just wait a few days if they fix it, if not just play GTA IV.

  • I am a big Metal Gear Fan and have played all the games in this series. I was however quite disappointed to play the Metal Gear Online. I agree with some of the posts on this forum. Characters move too slow, auto aiming does not work very well, graphics are not the best (as compared to Warhawk and Uncharted etc). I can only hope that Single Player game will be much better and will live upto hype and gamers expectatioons

  • definitley started downloading around 3am and didn’t finish till about 2pm.
not cool. that was just the first update too.

  • My beta test key was cut short by 3 characters……as were a million others.

  • You guys are crying wayy too much for a BETA…. Obviously no one here has ever been involved in a pc beta.
Granted the only slight annoyances were the incredibly long download times (3 days for 1.01) and making the K ID, which i ended up doing at work anyway.
And i know alot of people have had other issues. That sux, but it’s a beta you can not expect full retail quality and reliability out of it.

Personally i really like it. But yea the CQC needs work, you can clip through each other making a solid hit tough. And the aim thing with triangle and all that is impossible. And they gotta work on re-spawn points. A couple of times i had the enemy spawn right next to me, and vice-versa.

Other than that the only other thing i ran into was the being killed as soon as you spawn thing. Seems to only happen if you just hit Start to continue with the same weapons set. If you hit down, even just to highlight the primary guns then hit start, it doesn’t seem to do it.

Oh and BTW, since NO ONE READS, we all have a ‘Mail’ function in the menu where we can “Send messages to the GM (Game Master) about the game”

  • i have had the beta downloaded since april 17th. i have tried to download the first update and got about 59% done before i finally had to cut it short( it took about 6 or 7 hours just for that!) now when i try to go back and reinstall the download it says that i am still 59% done, but nothing else happens. do i have to delete the original beta client, then re-download from psn to get this to work? i,m tempted to delete the beta and forget about it. please can someone give me an idea of what to do? is there anyone in america actually playing this game yet?

  • hey konami, they way u handle patching online is the worse ive seen… Bit torrent type of download is so freakin slow, server download doesnt work or SLOW. why cant u just make update into one download. this will be bad for new players that have to go thru all that process…
