    Nice PSN update.

The only thing missing is the new MGS4 trailer…come on SCEA! the GTA IV trailers where on PSN the same day they where out. Why not MGS4?

  • Very Very well done…. the DBZ demo was alot of fun, and all the other stuff you have put in the ps store.
    Thanks alot.
    -Moe

  • Oh boy… I haven’t even unlocked all the Hot Shots characters that are on the disc yet! But I’m sure I’ll be picking these up at some point. Looking forward to some new courses…

  • please i neeed help PLEASE!!!!!!

  • I can’t believe we get trash like Rocketman and not something good like Dark Mist. What a joke.

  • Really good content, thanks a lot.

I’d really like Dark Mist to come stateside.

  • Another great update this week. Surprised that Dark Mist wasn’t released on the North American store but since I don’t how know things get certified and such I’m sure you guys must have your reasons. Regardless I’m looking forward a lot to Dark Mist and hope it gets released on the store sometime in the future.

  • Are u guys planning to release Portal on psn network or talk to valve about it.

Please I would really appreciate it.

  • Are guys planning to release portal on psn network? talk to valve or something?

I would really appreciate it if you can answer my burning question.

  • Nice update. why cant i download content using my mac?

  • Only thing worth it this week is the Secret Agent Clank demo. ;) Thanks much!

  • Very nice update, that’s three updates in a row that haven’t failed to disappoint! Quite a few demos to try out.

  • FilliamHMuffman

@ Who_Said look at comment 6. Dark Mist, a downloadable game fully translated into English, is not being released in North America.

The people in charge of PSN content are idiots.

  • Any updates on eta for Home? also we got the shafted by not being exclusive to GTA IV, please tell me me we won’t be left out on DLC. I know microsoft dished out big $$ for some exclusive dlc, but we are n’t gonna get the cold shoulder are we?

  • @FilliamHMuffman

I did read the reply to comment #6. That’s the reason I mentioned that the people in charge of the PS Store content must have some reason for not releasing Dark Mist on the North American store like the Euro store. I don’t know how games get certified and I’m sure that downloadable titles are no different. It’s not like Sony doesn’t like making money you know and if enough people want the game I’m sure we’ll get it eventually. On the plus side there’s a lot of great downloadble games to look forward to this month and the next.

  • Where are the expansion packs for Wipeout Pulse. I just don’t understand why PSN decides to release content in Europe and not in the US. It’s been over 3 months since the expansions were released and still nothing for the Wipeout fans in the US. Aggravating to say the least.

  • hey, nice update but.. i have a problem, i download ratche & clank demo but not working… “screen Black” but no play -.-

  • Hi Neil –
I’m Ro and I manage the PS Store schedule for SCEA. At this time, there are no plans to release this title on our store.

    – Ro

Are PSN cards out yet? And can I use them to purchase items from the Euro or JPN store?

    • Hi dojikyo – Stay tuned to the blog for more information on this in near future. Thanks for your inquiry.

      – Ro

  • aw when does the US get Crash Team Racing? I really want that game.

  • i have problems to play Secret agent clank demo ¬¬ h.e.l.p

XMB GAME/secret Agent clank DEMO/”START”—>”PSP Screen Black” ..

  • compared to last week’s, this update is terrible. at least i have June 5th to look forward to when the Battlefield: Bad Company demo is released. W00T!

  • Never thought I’d see the day. Sony, your updates are great now, keep it going!

  • No Dark Mist for NA why?

  • I was wondering is there any chance of a US release of Mainichi Issho. Because there just was this cool You Tube feature added to it and I think it would be cool to see those features on the US Servers too.

  • Please Please Please! Sony people talk to Bethesda ask them to put some DLC on the PSN store we’ve been waiting patiently and I would really like to play my game again.

    – Ro”

Why? Have you tried it? It’s excellent. I was looking forward to buying it AGAIN on the US store to support the release. I honestly can’t even begin to imagine why you wouldn’t have a release planned. Care to enlighten me?

  • oh one more thing. i would like to take the time out to thank all the SCEA team and also my friend who is a video game store owner a true PS3 fan boy. I witness him convert many many many XBOX owners to the PS3 we call him the sony priest and i was also an xbobx user he took me in and help me through my rehab development and now I and many others have seen the light, the truth, and the ultimate power .I may complain about somethings but you are the best
    SCEA thank you very much
    your most improved xbox fend

  • Hey, I read that you guys actually read these comments and take some of our suggestions.

I know this has been said before but could you PLEASE release (and localize) some of those quirky Japanese games that never saw stateside release? Especially of the PS1 era–I don’t think they ought to be too expensive to localize since their production values are worlds away from today’s software (as in, mostly text, not really any audio–and if there was, you could just sub it anyway). I don’t know if people like me represent a niche market or not, but we’d wet ourselves to play stuff like Vib Ribbon and I’m really curious to find out what’s the deal with that white cat in Japan.

  • Chalk me up for another who would love to see Dark Mist hit the US.

  • Hi SCEA.

Release some freakin PS1 games for christ sakes and stop sitting on games with the flawed idea of “flooding” the marketplace.

PS: Seen the latest NPD numbers?

  • “Ro Hernandez replied on May 15, 2008 at 3:51 pm
    Hi Neil –
I’m Ro and I manage the PS Store schedule for SCEA. At this time, there are no plans to release this title on our store.
    – Ro”

That’s really sad Ro. So, you’re defending the horrible title that is Rocketman by not releasing the better title aka Dark Mist? Laughable.

Is it better for SCEA to sell shovel ware and make a few bucks OR sell great titles and make more bucks?

Whomever purchased Rocketman and it’s laughable expansion needs to get their head examined as well as a full refund from SCEA.

Yikes. I thought PSN stood for QUALITY over QUANTITY?? What happened to that mantra? Shameful SCEA, shameful. I think I’d rather by DRM cripple ware from Microsoft than deal with lackluster update after lackluster update. At least MS releases titles week after week. And sometimes they aren’t half bad. The last PSN title I purchased was PJ Monsters, which was the last decent title released. PJ was creative quality.

I expected more from Sony. So far this year has been a complete bust. Home? No where to be found. PSN? Horrifying. PSP Store? You’re joking right? PSOne games? Let’s not even go there. XMB? Right… instead you’re patching the firmware to fix “PS3 title issues”… we all know it’s for GTAIV.

And now you’re pushing not ONE but TWO Metal Solid bundles? WoW. Way to flood the marketplace with SKU after SKU. You’re making MS look really good right now with their 3 SKUs.

I’m one sad panda right now regarding my purchase of the PS3 along with all my game title support. I could have at least spend that same $3,000 on the Wii and 360 platforms. At least I would know that I’d get title support and interesting features. I haven’t touched my PS3 in a week now. Pretty disappointing.

Blu-ray isn’t going to win the console war guys. You’ve already lost. It’s a race for second place at this point and you’re all in third. April NPD numbers weren’t so hot eh? Dead last. Ok, well you did just beat out the PS2 for last place. Combined PS2, PS3, and PSP sales can’t even top the Wii.

I’m really hoping you all can pull through this dark and troubling time. The rule of the day is give the consumer what they want. Stop dragging your feet. In-game XMB, Home, PSOne games, QUALITY PSN titles. Simple stuff.

    • Just to clarify your some of your incorrect information for anyone who might reading and get confused by your erroneous statements, the gun-metal gray Metal Gear Solid 4 Limited Edition PLAYSTATION 3 bundle will NOT be sold in stores. It will be available exclusively through Konami.com as Brandon stated in this blog post:
      https://blog.playstation.com/2008/05/15/mgs4-limited-edition-ps3-hardware-bundle-details/

Those are truly a limited quantity, so make sure you read up on it to learn how to get yours.

Final comment, for everyone, like yourself, who enjoying PixelJunk Monsters, you\’ll be happy to know that the expansion pack, called \”Encore\” is now available on the PLAYSTATION Store.

  • In-game XMB.

There. I gave my vote for this week.

  • hot shot out of bounds demo, more ps1 games like vagrant story or the original mgs. keep up the good work guys. luv me sum pixel junk monsters :) more guitar hero songs would b awesome 2. can’t wait 2 c what u guys got next B-)

  • I don’t understand why you guys are thanking SONY for an awesome update… I’m all for SONY – I think they make great products – but they absolutely suck at putting out new content on the PSN. COME ON! Seriously, get with it guys. Themes and movie trailers do not count for anything.

  • Nice…
So, when do we have some new PS1 games? The JP store is filled with those, yet I haven’t seen anything new in several weeks

  • Wow, the DBZ game looks and plays amazingly! Thanks for giving us a demo!

Also, GIVE ME MORE AAA PS1 GAME DOWNLOADS

Hint: Castlevania:SotN was not the only one. Give me Einhander, Final Fantasy VII, Ergheiz, Metal Gear Solid, Tomba, and more JRPGs!!

  • Grace, you’re current strategy for the US store is heavily flawed, and results in an extremely weak selection taht makes it difficult to follow every week, because of the constant disappointments. The “staggered release” tactic, and fearing “flooding the store” is absolute nonsense that has no basis in reality.

Dark Mist is a good game, it is translated into English, can you please take the time to explain to us, in detail, why you have no plans to get it on our store? Are we supposed to be happy with an expansion to a terrible downloadable game that no one bought? (Rocketmen, which is absolute garbage)

Can you please explain to us, in detail, why the PSone feature is so poorly supported? You have several games on the ESRB list ready and rated, that have been their for months, that we have literally begged you to release, and then you get R-Types rated and on the store within days…. a game no one asked for, no one wants, and that is blatantly inferior to the games that have been left to rot on the ESRB list. Why?

Your handling of the store as a whole, but specifically the PSone games feature, makes absolutely no sense to me. I haven’t purchased anything from your store since the release of Castlevania: SOTN, the only REAL classic in the PSone classics in North America. I am begging you to take my money, and you’re just kinding sitting there and saying “Money? Naw, don’t need it”.

What in the heck is the point of getting boatloads of actual classic PSone games rated by the ESRB if you don’t DO anything with them? What is the point of not releasing a game fully translated into English in a english speaking countries online store that is as starved for quality content as this one? What is the point of highlighting the Rocketmen demo as if we should care, when we have made it obvious through sales numbers that we hate that terrible game? Have you SEEN the metacritic score for that one? It’s shareware.

Your strategy seems to be like a government feeding it’s homeless, but only one meal a week, and only half a meal at that, to make sure they better appreciate each meal. It’s a bad idea that leaves no one fully satisfied.

  • The overlord demo was a lot of fun. That’s a game I definitely plan to get.

If I had one thing to recommend to the artistic team on the game though, it would’ve been to destroy the grass too just from the running around of your minions. It would add that ‘chaotic’ feel of being evil, as well as helping show where you’ve already explored (trampled vs. untrampled).

    Fun little demo though.

  • I’m not personally too concerned if Dark Mist specifically makes it to the NA store, but I would be interested to understand why SCEA “has no plans” to offer the game at all. Sounds like the game was dismissed outright, without making an attempt to gauge the interest their might be amongst NA PS3 owners.

More to the point if you’re not going to import the original PSN game offerings of your SCE peers, could you at least start to work towards a semi-regular schedule of offering your own regional offerings of new, original PSN games? Like, at least biweekly.

There’s no reason why it should be more likely to come by new, original, disc-based game releases at retail each week than it would be via the downloadable store.

  • which countries will get the updates listed?

  • @89 Hey now, r-types is pretty awesome. Absolutely no reason to knock that release.

  • Like a lot of people here, I am very mad at the fact that Dark Mist is not going to be release on the NA PSN Store.

    Is there any particulare reason?

It’s already translated and its not like new titles come out every week.

This is very poor in comparison with your competitor who release new titles every week.

Dark Mist seems like a very solid title and seeing as Wipeout HD is not coming out this month and Bionic Commando has been pushed back, Dark Mist would be great to release.

The only other title it look like your going to release this month is Fatal Inertia EX which is a $30 titles that has recieve poor reviews from the industry and gamers a like.

A decent $10 title like Dark Mist will recieve way more sales than Fatal Inertia.

  • Like many people, the Secret Agent Clank demo doesn’t work on my white psp FW 3.95!!! Start ==} Black screen
I’m trying with the pc version to see if it’s working.

  • @87: I’m with you man, I agree 1324% with your comments, I’ll like to see some good classic RPGs on the PSN such as Chrono Cross, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear and others already rated by ESRB

  • “PLAYSTATION Network

    Elefunk – Summer 2008

This is all you’ve got SCEA? 5 PSN games over the next 16 weeks? Wow. Game over, Sony loses.

  • Great update.Thanks!!

  • Does anyone know if they will release Metal Gear Solid for Playstation on the Playstation Network?

  • Noel!

When is Legend Of Dragoon coming to PSN? I thought it was in the works already. And tell Square to hurry it up with FF13. That game alone will explode your consumer base for the PS3, and Ive been so patient…

    • Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but The Legend of Dragoon has never been announced for the PSN.
As for FFXIII, I\’m just as excited for it as you. Unfortunately, RPGs tend to have one of the longest development cycles due to the unique engines that tend to be built for them, the amount of dialog / text translation, and the localization required, among other thing. That being said, I have no doubt that when it\’s ready, Square-Enix will release a truly amazing experience that we\’ve all come to expect from the Final Fantasy series.
