I STILL CAN’T BELIEVE SONY IS GOING TO START CHARGING FOR “EXCLUSIVE” DEMOS AND CONTENT!!

    $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

    THIS SHOULD BE FREE!!!!!!

THE PSN UPDATES ARE TOO THIN AS IT IS- THEN TO DIVIDE THAT UP AND CHARGE FOR HALF OF IT!!??

    $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
THIS IS A BAD SIGN FOR PS3 USERS! TAKE MY WORD FOR IT! SONY YOU ARE ON A SLIPPERY SLOPE!
    $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

some quotes from other PSN gamers-

“would you pay $3.00 for a demo that would have been free? Would you put out $25 a year for new themes? Would you pay money to then have to buy a Add-on?”

“So what could of been in PSN that will be in Qore instead include Demos, Add-ons, Themes, Blu-ray trailers, that will never hit PSN. this will mean that you will have to pay just to access this content”

“They say they have exclusive content, well we would have that for free if they didn’t make Qore. They’re nickle and diming us to the extreme, with a subscriptions and people are buying it. We shouldn’t have to pay for a feature that should and was free.”

“nothing can make me excited for this, you want people to pay for advertising? that is the stupidest thing ever. The hole point is to promote PS3 ang PSP games and you want us to pay. And you are going to give beta keys away to the people stupid enough to pay for this. Betas are meant to be free!
well this isn’t one of the best ideas sony has ever had.”

“Sony should be talking directly to the gamers through the PSN. It should be nurturing a community with direct communication. If Major Nelson can be bothered to add a small free podcast to Live for free then why can’t we have something at the PSN for free? Free for all users, to get all users involved. There is little sense of Sony caring about community relations outside of this blog.”

“This was a perfect opportunity for Sony to start directly talking to gamers and making them feel that the PSN was something special. It should have been a free show every week running for about 15 minutes. Letting PS3 users inside the PS3 world, putting faces on the talent involved and allowing gamers to relate to industry gamers. Making a community. Everyone on the 360 knows the name of Major Nelson. The same should be true for the Playstation but it isn’t. It just makes Sony seem intentionally aloof and out of touch from the audience.”

    “What’s next, paying for home?”

    $$$$$$$$$$$$$

  • Finally an update, thank you!

  • Bring on QORE!! I’m ready for my yearly subscription!!!!

  • zola needs the banhammer.

  • Wrong prices again, on the Disturbed pack, they’re supposed to be .99 cents for a limited time.

  • here comes the flames.

  • Shouldn’t the Guitar Hero GOW song be free?

  • 2 complaints from me this week.

    1. Why is Qore not included with my “Playstation: The Official Magazine” subscription?

If it’s the ‘official magazine’, why do I need to pay for more ‘official’ content?

    2. Why was the classic title ‘Rainbow Six’ not put on the US store? I know it’s on the European store.

other than that, thanks for the great content this week! Nice update!

  • the demos are free Zola….

    *facepalm*

  • @2
quit whining. Its an optional service, so if you don’t want it don’t buy it.

  • i’m just voicing my opinion.

    this IS a blog, right?

if your idea of fostering a “community” is to “faceplam” everyone who doesn’t think like you, then you my friend would make a great nazi.

  • Great update……And please ban zola, you can tell he had that copy and pasted and ready to go LOL

  • The store hasn’t been updated yet…ahhhhhhhhhhh lol.

  • So much content! Great update, guys!

  • Great update guys.

Do you have to suscribe to Qore to get the beta invites or will it be included in certain episodes?

I hope to be hearing from Eric Lempel soon. :)

  • I hope you guys ban that spammer.

    ZOLA. Please BAN ZOLA.

  • how come my store isnt updating?

  • to zola Qore is pretty much the new playstation magazine. Its about the same price and you get so much more i dont see the problem.

  • Fantastic update. I can’t wait for it to go live. Thanks, Sony!

  • @11

“if you don’t want it, don’t buy it”

maybe re-read my post, sports fan-

“They say they have *optional* exclusive content, well we would have that for free if they didn’t make Qore. They’re nickle and diming us to the extreme, with a subscriptions and people are buying it. We shouldn’t have to pay for a feature that should and was free.”

    who doesn’t want demos?

    ok-

    now-

who wants to pay for them?

    ……

    i thought so.

  • No PS1 games again. It sucks having to wait for RPG games.

  • good update.everyones entitled to their opinion so zola I will give you that.I disagree though if I could get better content then we have been getting for a small fee Im all over it.

  • Any ideas on when the store will be updated and ready to go? Hopefully Disturbed’s prices will be corrected as well.

  • Now this is more like it! It looks like we got a great update this week.

  • Wasn’t the GH 3 add-on supposed to be free??

“Coming Thursday, June 5, you’ll be able to download “The End Begins (to Rock)”, a rockin’ take on the theme song from God of War II, exclusively for the PLAYSTATION 3 version of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.

Most importantly, this Add-On will be FREE! The audio track will also be made available on the PLAYSTATION Store in free, downloadable form as well.”

  • @3am

    how am i spamming?

this is the first post I’ve made in months!

This whole “pay for demos” has made me vocal.

I love how this blog turns on it’s own.

you’re no better than x-bots kids swearing on
    Live!

  • whatisdelicious

    Christ, finally.

You guys really need a set time when you update. Tell us what we’ll be getting on Wednesday, then update the Store with the content Thursday at midnight prompt.

I don’t get why it’s always such a secretive process.

But this really is a great update; time for my Qore subscription, my Calling All Cars, my demos, music track, trailers, and if I didn’t already have a European account, I’d be happy about getting the Graffiti and Retro themes. (Why are those released so late here anyway?)

  • whatisdelicious

Wait, I take back some of my praise since the post is up but the Store hasn’t gotten any updates yet.

    …Seriously? Wow. Tease, much?

  • lol Zola, u are pathetic.

Ann good update, i would buy wolf of the battlefield and NOVASTRIKE but …………………. Where are the PSN cards !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @23 Frazz

“good update.everyones entitled to their opinion so zola I will give you that.I disagree though if I could get better content then we have been getting for a small fee Im all over it.”

    thanks for the good manners!

it is appreciated, as adults like to debate, and kids like to flame.

    as for your post-
“if I could get better content then we have been getting for a small fee”

That “better content” is waht all PS3 owners have been waiting for since the PS3 launched…now it is finally coming…and we have to pay for it.

    bummer!

  • @28 because there are no demo’s on Qore, and there are 3 free demo’s on the store…..Your complaints make no sense.

  • whatisdelicious

And finally, I just remembered something: You have an Information Board. Why isn’t it ever updated with this stuff early enough to be relevant?

I should’ve been reading about Qore at least a week or two ago through the Information Board.

    Stuff like that.

Anyway, I guess I’m just bored waiting for the Store to update so I can download Qore and stuff.

  • Oh, come on zola, this is called capitalism… it’s like buying a magazine, and as for the demos, there won’t necessarily be stuff in Qore that otherwise would have been made available; it’s hard to say really… all I can say is just wait and see.

  • not ready yet? uh, you had all week..

  • Can’t wait for Qore. I really love well produced content and I am dying to see how Sony will approach interactive content. To give people first dibs to demo’s is a great incentive that even Xbox does for its Gold subscribers, giving them first dibs.

  • @31 Seba51

    nice exclamation point over-use.

    who’s pathetic now?

(sorry, she was asking for it!)

  • lmao, zola you make me laugh. Don’t ban zola yet, please let him continue to dance around like a blabbering fool.

Qore is like the new PSM, were you angry when they charged you for that too? I’m not too fond of Qore myself, but come on. Be mature on the subject.

Great update by the way, I’m actaully spending over 20 bucks today <_<

  • Zola is totally right. As soon as I heard about this “service” I felt a rock in my gut. The thing that set the PSN apart from M$ was that it was FREE.

Earlier today I tried to download the Civ demo from the XBL marketplace, and it gave me some error saying that it was for Gold members only. That’s total horse crap, and all of you know it.

I really hope this Qrap isn’t a bad sign of things to come, but I’m sure this has been in motion for months.

  • Sweet, hope it’s ready soon! Not totally sold on the Qore thing yet, but I’ll plop down the measly $3 this once, see what I like…

  • @35 eisbracher

“Oh, come on zola, this is called capitalism”

And that is why Xbox charges $50 a year for what the PSN USED to offer for free.

There are ADVERTISEMENTS included for the price!?!?!?!

And don’t we have to hten STILKL BUY THE ADD-ON CONTENT??

If someone ACTUALLY THINKS THIS IS OK…then, wow…

  • I guess Sony saw that many people were willing to pay for the GT5 demo, so they might as well start charging for other demos as well.

  • how come my store has none of this stuff its 6 and is usually on by 3 i live in canada can anyone give me an answer?

  • not to get involved in the qore debate, but good update.

been looking forward to the Disturbed and GoW tracks, as well as the demo to civ revolutions.

I’ll prob shell out the $3 on qore to make a more valid opinion on it.

let’s hope sony handles it properly and wait until they do cross the line to get our panties bunched up.

  • Wow, Qore doesn’t seem bad. It’s like a magazine with a bunch of extras! Sure it sort of means “paying for demoes” but am I the only one who remembers when PS2 demo disks where $8? I’ll probably be getting Civilization, Battlefield: BC, and Qore.

  • @41 librekd_117

“lmao, zola you make me laugh. Don’t ban zola yet, please let him continue to dance around like a blabbering fool.”

at what point in ANY of my arguemnets was I blabbering? ARE YOU AFRAID OF A WELL THOUGHT OUT RESPONSE???

have fun making your parents pay whatever Sony wants you to.

  • Just letting someone know that the link for the Guitar Hero III – GOW Add-On link to the Novastrike information that was posted on the blog. Correction would be nice. Otherwise, I like this update. I’ll be buying the Disturbed track pack for rock band along with (possible) a Qore subscription.

  • Hey Zola, are you blind?

Or did you just miss the fact that we’re getting 3 demos this week… for FREE.

QORE isn’t going to change the way PSN is today, stop thinking that it will. *sheesh*

QORE is nothing more then a Virtual Gaming Magazine, and OFCOURSE you’d have to pay for it. Why the hell wouldn’t you?

  • Great update! It’s borderline epic.
