  • You need to include this in the next firmware, AAC tag and album art recognition. I just bought a new PS3, and did a full system back up from my old one, and restored it to my new one. They DID NOT hold their tags. I need to retag and add album art to 3177 songs. 3177! Over 210 hours of music. I don’t know how long I spent tagging them all the first time, it’d be nice if you had an “Edit Multiple” option for editing songs.
Picture folders disappeared (pictures are there, but the folders I housed them in are gone).
Video files went back to their default names, had to edit all their titles.
Game utilities folder is blank, have to reinstall all of my games (Can’t wait to reinstall the 30 minutes DMC4 file).
Rock Band, Ninja Gaiden, Tekken Online, High Velocity Bowling, and LocoRoco saves are gone.
Had to redownload all my PSN content.
What the hell Sony? Why do you make backing up to another PS3 such a hard process? Why can’t you just swap hard drives without having to reformat and losing a ton of content like the 360 does. You would think retaining tags and album art on AAC files would be a relatively easy task for the PS3 to handle.

  • Nice update. I’ve been waiting impatiently for the database

*note… it’s sad that someone rated this a 1… sad times*

  • second, AND AWESOME UPDATE

  • The MGS database sounds awesome. I can’t wait to look through it.

  • Nice update, just give us more game videos like Live gets and more themes for full satisfaction.

    When is 2.40 coming?

  • So the best thing this week is FREE. I guess Sony doesn’t need money anymore.

  • Gurumin – nice title & definitely a good price point for those looking for a nice action game for the PSP. Definitely recommend.

    Good update! Thanks!

  • Meh, not amazing. I will be downloading MGS4 Database and I’ll check to see what the new camos are.

  • Still waiting for some worthwhile PS1 classics… lol The PS3 stuff looks cool tho, but I don’t have a PS3. xD

  • It’s an ok update, mostly because of the MGS4 database and Gurumin.

I’ll get the HSG course, but I really wish you guys could offer the Japanese voices and BGM; I wouldn’t mind even paying for them.

Also, I don’t think anyone should buy Fatal Inertia, mostly because of the fact that KOEI screwed PS3 fans by releasing it exclusively on the 360, especially since it was originally announced for the PS3 first.

  • How is an entire course for Hot Shots Golf only 100k? Sounds like this was on the disc already and just has to be unlocked…

    • The latest course for Hot Shots Golf was included in the recent game update along with the new characters so that there wouldn\’t be issues when playing against people who didn\’t have those features.
Hope this helps answer your question!

  • Enough! Enough already!
What the heck is SCEE thinking?? What the heck is David Reeves thinking??
    ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!

No DEMO section on the european store.
    No PlaystationBlog.
    No Qore.
    Now, no MGS4 DATABASE!

SCEE does not seem to understand how catastrophic the situation is..it is time we show them.

SCEE has a track record of laziness and arrogance towards the European User. If SCEA and SCEJ can treat their customers right so should SCEE. We’re not going to take it anymore.

European friends, do not download any product from the European Store.
European friends, do not purchase any product from the European Store.
    The BOYCOTT starts now.
[It has already started on the EU forums]

    Disgusting. No respect.

David’s reply on the MGS4 DATABASE would surely be “we do not have enough translators”. Yeah right fool..a minimum would be to bring it to the UK store since the mother tongue is english. And just a little more effort to have it on the French store. SCEE, stop.

Sony Europe’s approach to online play is messy, disorganised, poorly managed and disrespectful to gamers who have, in some cases, given thousands of pounds per head to Sony over the years.

EU customers are getting a far inferior service to their US counterparts, and it’s time for this to change. Get ready to face the consequences, SCEE business is going to turn real real bad.

SCEA, keep up the great work. We love you.

  • crap, not second, SORRY

  • You guys shut up about 2.40 already, it has nothing to do with store updates, god!

  • Awesome updates sony, the MGS is the best for people who have not played them all

  • Love the new course file size only 100kb… Lame. I wonder how many other courses are on the disc waiting to be unlocked for $5.

Otherwise decent update. Love the PSP game. Too bad I already own it on UMD :(

      Dear Snap
The course will be downloaded automatically with today\’s automatic update. Once you\’ve completed that, you can purchase the key from the PSN store to unlock the course.

We used this model with the two new characters (Gloria and Alex) and will continue to do so with the rest of the HSG:OOB DLC items.

      – CHM

    • Thanks for clearing this up, Chris!

  • Jumping on the MSS Database. Hope to see more more PS Classics games soon…

  • What about more PS1 classics like Rainbow Six?

There are quite a few of us users that are willing to spend our hard earned cash on the classic titles, but no one wants to give us access to them.

The UK has Rainbow Six on their store, and it’s been there since last week. Why can’t we have it as well?

    Other than that.

    Great Update!

  • Gord Lacey, Hot Shots Golf, just like when the extra characters were released had a free update that included all the content so everyone has the same content even if they cannot actually use it themselves. If you go online to HSG, you will be prompted with an update and you will have to DL it.

  • who cares when it comes out, it will come out in a few weeks

  • @1 mywhitenoise:

ENOUGH about your fricking AAC tag and album art recognition nonsense.

You keep mentioning it OVER and OVER and OVER…in every single blog that has NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT.

    NOBODY CARES.

Get that through your thick coconut of a head.

  • @12

at least you have more ps1 classics then us lol

  • I’m actually starting to feel bad for Europe and getting screwed over almost every week. Kaz should fire all of the supervisors of SCEE and hire new ones.

    On topic, pretty good update.

  • I !MUST! see Step Brothers!

  • sweet update, here’s hoping it’s up in the next 10 hours!

  • @ #16, Snap. If you have Hot Shots Golf, then you would know that there is an version update that contains the new download. Read my previous post for more details.

  • Store isn’t updated yet …

  • Good update Grace, keep up the great work!

  • Great Update! Pain, Hot Shots Golf and MGS4 goodness all in one day. Sah-weet.

  • it is for me, lol im downloading mgs database as we speak

  • Ok update. Still waiting on WipeOut HD.

  • I also am DLing the database :)

  • @21
I usually only mention it in firmware blog posts, but I brought it up this time because I transfered to a new PS3 last night. I’m really pissed that I have to edit songs one by one, instead of editing multiple files at once…that would save me sooo much time.

And I’ll keep posting this until Sony fixes it.

  • Looking forward to viewing the MGS DataBase, and the Pain extras! Not a bad update at all. It’s also nice to see we get a demo sameday as XBL

  • Fatal Inertia EX $30

  • You know, working for Sony Europe must be a great job. You just sit around on your ass all day.

Besides, why didn’t you guys just wait a week and release the database in all territories at once? It’s not like you would have lost any money over it, what with it being free. Hell, we didn’t even know about it until you announced it yesterday.

  • you are giving us the linger in the shadows trailer but have not given us much info on it yet?

    • More info on when Linger In Shadows will be coming your way. It\’s hard to describe this title, but it\’s unlike anything you\’re used to playing. Truly a unique title.

  • @19
Gottcha, so everyone has to download it, even if they aren’t going to use it. That’s a lot better than having something hidden on the disc that just has to be unlocked. Thanks for the informative response in a way that isn’t condescending or confrontation, I appreciate it.:D

    Gord

  • I’m very annoyed that the UK store didn’t get the MGS4 database today. There’s no Playstation.blog for Europe so we never know when anything is coming.

And every single week SCEE fail completely with the store updates.

  • Where is Incredible HULK Demo?
    I Want it…

    Thank’s for de MGS database..

  • Nice update. Very pleased.

  • Great update!!!

Thanks for the clarification, Chris. I remember you telling us that there wasn’t any content on the disc that wasn’t available otherwise, and thought you might have forgotten about this one!

  • Just curious, but wasn’t there already a Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror demo released like a really long time ago (back before the playstation store existed) on the playstation underground website? I think it was in one of those monthly download packs or something. Is this the same demo?

Nice update for ps3. Four demos (omg!) plus add-on content! Yay!

  • lol, yeah…. Sony Europe sucks in comparison :D looks like a great update for SCEA though. They should be proud.
I agree that something has to be done about how scea treats all of Europe with the same coat of paint.
They should release what they can legally to native english speaking european countries.
We speak English in Ireland. Now if scea are waiting to release it in irish then thats great but in reality they aren’t. I have to wait because there are countries in the eu that don’t speak English. Thats a bit ridiculous.
But I don’t think my boycott will affect them, Iv worked in telephone debt collections before which completely put me off ever getting a credit card so unless they let me use my debit card any time soon or bring out those cards in ireland I wont be purchasing anything on psn. Simple as.

  • You need to fix your post! You said the Coldplay songs, Violet Hill, Talk, and God Put a Smile Upon Your Face, are being released for Guitar Hero but it’s actually Violet Hill, Yellow, and God Put a Smile Upon Your Face. You need to change Talk to Yellow. Of course Talk would be a good song for Guitar Hero, but it just simply isn’t being released and should be fixed.

  • Nice update. Tomorrow, I re-enter the word of Metal Gear.

  • Will be getting that Metal gear database.

  • My copy of the MGS database is downloading right now. Can’t wait. :)

  • Yes! NCAA 09! Hopefully EA delivers this EA and not like the disaster that was last year. Currently downloading at 5%. Can’t wait!

  • @Chris Hinojosa-Miranda

Good to hear. But $5/course is a bit high IMO. Hopefully it can be played online on all tees/mirror mode right away instead of having to be unlocked like the normal courses.
