  • i do that to cuz when i shut it off with ps button it freezes im gonna wait till 2.43 comes out

  • Ok, I know this is an old post to be adding a comment but, this is the first time I’ve been able to get onto a normal computer. I think that in one of the future updates you should really consider upgrading to a better, more current internet browser. Not everyone has a pc and the browser on the PS3 is JUNK. It can’t even log in to SONY’S site. Which is sad because it forces you to use this as your homepage. It’s like trying to sail with a big hole in your boat. C’mon Sony be smarter than this. Use firefox or something and get adobe to upgrade the flash player. Otherwise there isn’t any point in having a browser at all. I bought the PS3 for it’s different uses as a media machine, and internet was one of them. Keep it current, please.

  • Sorry to say that I have now had problems with with the all of the updates from v2.40 through and including v2.42. Each time the update crashes after installing to some percentage (e.g. 24%, 36%, etc..)and gives me an error message like 800F157 and instructs me to call support. Each time I call, they ask for another $150 bucks to supplement the apparent lack of R&D budget to fix these things before they are released. The “out of warranty” excuse just doesn’t cut it anymore. The unit worked fine until these most recent updates — the problem is with the updates themselves, not the hardware. Good thing I shorted Sony stock at $51.50 — I’ll need the profits to pay for all of the “out of warranty” service charges. Nice.

  • I bought my PS3 just 2 weeks ago and haven’t even finished 2 levels of Metal Gear Solid 4 when i decided to update my unit. Right after, my PS3 won’t read any discs. Being in the Philippines, i’m not covered by warranties enjoyed by other countries. Even the Sony Service Centers here won’t honor the warranty.
I went around the internet looking for some articles on this and found out that i’m not the only one suffering from the PS3 breaking down right after updating the firmware.
It turns out, in a lot of cases, the lens gets damaged. I think there’s a risk of damaging the lens when you update the firmware.

  • The update 2.41 was a great addition to the the system, and honestly a big help with communication. 2.41, although I heard more complaints than good things, it wasnt nessasarily a bad update. The only thing that the competition has over the system is,the ability to talk to each other regardless of what they are doing (watching movies games or etc). I know that Sony’s goal is to be original as much as possible, but the system can at least match it.

  • Eric,
i think its great that sony keeps updating the system with firmware updates. but ive been thinking and i have been wondering why u cant log in two or more profiles, this bugs my friends and family. There is no reason for my friends and family to play with me on my system with out being able to log in and play with there customized characters,teams.etc.I have noticed u can do this on the xbox 360 and on the wii and still be able to achieve higher levels and unlock new things.
I hope i will get a response but i have a feeling i wont. i know the ps3 can be the ultimate next gen system. but it just seems grim

    p.s
    keep up the good work

  • Stupendous!
    Love It
    -Sony Rocks-

  • I have a question.
so an update comes out each month or just whenever they’ve made significant firmware improvements over a certain period of time?

Sony has been pretty awesome lately with releasing one consecutively each month since April or so.
