  • How about posting the PC Download link with the blog post when it releases

  • kedaro I’m sorry fo realz, bcollin2008 however I’m not sorry for what I meant to direct towards you

  • I was like “!” anyway yea, that’s about it out of me for tonight, just coming here gets me attacked now… ha!

people don’t like my Gravatar. or something.

  • Hmm with the things are sounding I will end up having problems with my download to as I am also located in California. I am going to try it and if it doesn’t go anywhere then I will just download it later. I am personally in know hurry to download this update.

As I am typing this I got the same error. about a connection to the server cannot be established. (80710723) This is too bad for the people who really want to play online right now. I would suggest trying later and just playing the Single player through if you haven’t finished it. Unless it’s Warhawk because then your screwed until the servers are back up and working.

I too have a list of updates I would like to see in the next firmware update and those are…

    – Continuios Playback of Video’s
    – Video Playlists
    – Ability to Charge the Controllers While in Standby
    – Ability to Create Sub-folders from within the PS3 menu System
    – Scene Search for Video’s like in the PSP
    – A Sleep Function so you can Play Music or Movies before you go to bed and have the PS3 shut down after a certain amount of time
    – Better Compatibilty for Remote Play.

I know that last one would be nearly impossible for you to accomplish since each router is configured differently and it is impossible for you to know everyone’s different settings so that everyone’s would work. I’m just hope mine will work eventually. As for the others please work on them so the PS3 will at least have all the features that the PSP has.

Thank You and keep up the Good Work.
    Wolf26pack

  • Is all good dude, gonna’ go try to play MGO if it let’s me.

  • I have a tab open per page of comments to cross reference everything and you’re right I had remnants of some comment on another page and it got all screwy.. bedtime

  • @Wolf26pack

What kind of trouble do you have remote play, maybe someone here (ie. me) can help you figure it out. I have two psps that can access my wireless router and remote play from my 20gig/albeit upgraded to 250gig. ps3.
The one that shipped without wi-fi.

  • EVERYONE SHUT UP AND GO TO BED. The servers choked with people trying to get the download so it’s slow. Take a deep breath, jerk off and go to bed. Haha.

To Sony : Work with EA/DICE and fix the headsets on Battlefield : Bad Company soon please! Or just stop working with Electronic Arts all together until they get their act together and finish and test a game before they release it.

  • @208

The headset problem occurs in rainbow six vegas 2 too, or it did when I was playing it (before I got BFBC)

  • I was unable to download the update I guess it wont hurt to try tomorrow so much for LIFE WITH PLAYSTATION lol

  • Thanxs For updates Eric GOOD WORK!!!!!

  • @ Kedaro

I appreciate the help. I like many others have the problem with using Remote play via the internet and then when you shut off the PS3 it seems to turn back on and then shuts off automatically when it doesn’t reconnect. I used to have a Linksys WRT54GS Router and I had figured out how to get it to work with some port forwarding and all, but recently I switched over to the AT&T U-verse service and that came with a 2wire Gateway. I have tried Forwarding all the same ports but it gave me more problems. It even got to the point where for some reason it wouldn’t let my PSP connect to the internet all of the sudden. I really don’t wanna mess with the settings anymore. I just wish it was more compatible with routers and easier, because since it is dependent on each routers individual settings and not ever router will be set the same way according to the users perference then you cannot depend on it working from anywhere. Unfortunatly I cannot even depend on it working from home. ;-(

  • I Want SONY TO HAVE MORE SERVERS I PAY FOR THE BEST INTERNET POSSIBLE 16mg WHY DO UPDATES HATE ME?

  • Updated with no issues whatsoever. Thanks Eric :)

  • I guess we are gonna have to wait and see! for all of those who dont have 2.42 you are not alone! (= just be patient is all.

  • SCEA:

Please add a option in the XMB display setup menu to change the size of the screen like in the games Warhawk and MGS4. Most people have overscan on HDMI through the PS3 on their TVs (even on Sony screens). Although most users probably don’t care – I do!If your download one of those 720p or 1080p overscan patterns, you can clearly see. I have no overscan on other HDMI equipment, but for some reason, I have on the HDMI output from the PS3. Please, give us this option in a future FW update. I think it should be there on a multi-media machine like the PS3.

For the rest: thank you for giving us these many updates. No sarcasm, I really mean it. It shows the great support I was hoping for when I bought my PS3. I hope you continue to deliver these timely updates.

  • Well I got to 5% just now but I gotta sleep I cant try anymore hopefully its server load or something and it will work tomorrow…as sad as that makes me…

  • @Wolf26pack

Well I was prompted to do port forwarding by a friend before I even sessed out how to operate my own specific modem which is also a 2-wire gateway, you need to contact your ISP, or log into your user hub, or whatever for your specific ISP, and configure your 2wire options over the net, there shouldn’t be any port forwarding required just a new WEPkey for you to implement into the psp, this should give you both access from internet, and private network, at least it does for me atm.

If you learned how to port-forward, everything I’m saying right now probably sounds ridiculously condescending, and I appologize if that’s the case. It’s possible that AT&T U-verse is the variable, is that technically dsl connection then? If so it should be relatively simple, you really shouldn’t need to port forward as I know I don’t port forward atm.

my 2wire had online config. settings when I accessed my personal ISPs service page, for my account, and I had to set it to accept incoming connections or something to that effect, without getting too technical.

Sorry if I haven’t been much help,

basically I know one thing for sure, If your connection is similar to Telus(Canada) high velocity dsl, and we both have the same router/wireless hub, there should be little difference in how we both need to have it set up, in order for you to enjoy remote play comfortably.

  • sweet i can finally play bad company without loosing voice chat thank you.

  • @wolf26pack, add me to PSN, that way you can just message me when you’re figuring it out at your pc, i’ll check how mine is set up right now, and let you know on there.

  • @219 OMG REALLY!!?!!?!!!!!?!? can somebody validate this?!!

  • Well it would appear that the West Coast Server for the update is broken or overwhelmed too much.

Because I get to about 9% and then the network error happpens.

I will just wait this out for now but damn I want to rent the Onion Movie too.

  • BUGREPORT:

FW 2.41 System Backup didn’t include the achieved Trophies on the XMB. They were all gone once restored.

    Is that fixed with 2.42?

    keep the updates coming ;)
    cheers

  • browsing the messages is boring and takes too much time
I check a message, then I want to check another message, it gets out of the message box, and I have to get in the received messages again.
whay can’t I to the next message by pressing up and down?

This happens when I check messages during game play.

  • Guys, guys, guys, the server of the PSN must be out of the air from where you live, geez, don’t make it sound like WWIII just started. It happened to me once as well, waited for a while and the server was back online. You really make a huge deal out of nothing.

  • @Kedaro

I wish it was so simple.

ATM I can connect to the Internet with the PS3 & PSP and have never really had a problem with that.

I have set a personal WEP Key for my Gateway so I know how to access the Gateways setup, that wasn’t the problem. It was weird once I had set a Static IP for my PS3 and set up port forwarding all of the sudden my PSP couldn’t connect to the internet. It actually wreaked havok to all my connections. So I gave up trying Remote via the internet.

I believe it also has to do with 2wire Gateways not having a UPnP feature available. When it comes to the Private connection though it worked just as Advertised but, of course that wouldn’t do me any good once I left my house. I have yet to try it any where else and I think I actually will next time I visit a Starbucks. It really is too bad I can’t use the feature via the internet. Although it isn’t going to kill my PS3 experience.

I appreciate you trying to help me though. :-)

  • never mind it just works a little longer

  • You can grab the update from the Sony website as well (like always). It doesn’t matter in which country you live, you can just download and install it from the US PlayStation website. http://dus01.ps3.update.playstation.net/update/ps3/image/us/2008_0730_60a6c36e2dd2000b3fda3205428665dc/PS3UPDAT.PUP

  • @Kedaro

I will try to add you. I may not be able to because when I try to sign in it of course asks for me to update my system. So unless this works I will have to wait until it is fixed. ATM is is at 4% and doesn’t seem to be moving although that is the furthest I have ever gotten. I don’t think it is going to happen tonight. Ohh wait now it jumped to 6% see I’m using Optimisim LOL.

My User Name is the same as on this Blog. Is yours the same also?

  • STOP POSTING USELESS UPDATES
do you know how hard it is for me to download these HUGE UPDATES?
    takes me about an HOUR
in my neighborhood, only 384kilobits down and up is offered
WHY CAN’T I PLAY ONLINE GAMES WITHOUT DOWNLOADING THE UPDATES? I DON’T WANT TO WAIT AN HOUR FOR A MINOR UPDATE, STOP FORCING ME TO DO SO!!!!
Keep this up and i’m switching over to x360

  • Life with PLAYSTATION should arrive on thursday according to a few sources as for my update the same happended to be chryst, dont feel bad,it should be resolved in no time! (= most likely tomorrow morning or something!

  • “Keep this up and i’m switching over to x360”

Good luck then with your big piece of failure :-P If you see your first RRoD glowing up, don’t complain ever again.

  • Christ, your “E-Mail Us” form is horrible. How can the remarks be invalid? And why is it a secret why it’s considered invalid? FIX IT!

I’ll try here and hope someone reads it.

    REQUESTED FEATURE: PLAYBACK FORWARD/REWIND:

Use the analog R2/L2 to set the speed of the fast forward and rewind: The harder you press the button, the faster the speed. When the buttons are released, the player should return to its previous state, ie. either stopped or playback.

Even today, the R2 and L2 are easily hit by accident e.g. when putting the controller on a table. Therefore the buttons’ first little squeeze (first bits?) should ignored — effectively you have to the buttons press hard for it to work.

Currently the R2/L2 serve the same purpose as the DPAD, and I think this new feature would add a little extra value. Plus it should be rather easy and risk-free to implement (famous last words).

    So, what do you think?

  • Yeah Sony fix up that error 404 on this site, which we get to see when we post. I know for one that my message has been posted anyway, but apparently not everyone knows that, see result above me.

  • Ya I thought it was just me but luckly I checked and it was posted or else I would have made the same mistake.

  • What do you mean by improving playback. Also whats the Blue-tooth issue?

  • @ 231 movingincircles

If it takes an hour to update your PS3 every time, you don’t have a reason to keep it. Sell it on order to get extra money for better internet. It is people with crappy internet that make online games lag…

  • Hope this update can solve the media streaming problem since 2.41 (before 2.41 all my H264 TS video file play smoothly in PS3 through my QNAP Ts209 NAS server. But after upgrade to 2.41 , most of these files (H264-TS) turn to be unsupport format in my media server, and I need to remux all of them to a m2ts format by TSremux.)I hope 2.42 can fix this problem.

Worked just fine here. Have you tried something like Twonky? Thats what I use: works perfect.

  • my trophys are gone and a update doesnt work: error: 8002292D . :(
plz add a new flash version to the browser! many sites won’t load right. like gametrailers!

  • More wishlist:

    * BRAVIA Sync compatibility, so my Sony Bravia TV will switch to HDMI when the PS3 is powered on.

  • @ 247 Charger | July 30th, 2008 at 2:32 am
I’m afraid that has nothing to do with the PS3. There should be an option in the menu of your TV to turn that off. Other than that, there is NO way of fixing this from the PS3 side cause the PS3 doesn’t do anything wrong.

  • @244 Trat | July 30th, 2008 at 2:24 am

QNAP NAS already use Twonky !

  • Thanks for the update.

Could you provide us with more details and give us the heads up before the update goes online next time?
