Today we’re announcing the expansion of our closed beta test for PlayStation Home to begin at the end of the month.
Later today, the PLAYSTATION Store will be updated with a PlayStation Home theme. By downloading the theme, users are submitting an application to join the PlayStation Home Beta test community. We will be using a variety of criteria including activity on the PLAYSTATION Network to determine eligibility for the Beta community. Existing beta testers have automatically qualified to be part of the expanded beta.
We’re really excited about this milestone and want our most loyal fans to be a part of the evolution of PlayStation Home.
In Europe, SCEE is also beginning their expanded closed beta, directly targeting consumers who have been most active on PLAYSTATION Network and PLAYSTATION Store. SCEE will be in email contact with their PSN audience very shortly.

Ok…Ive been really laid back about all of this Home beta,R2 beta,LwP and Socom beta stuff. I feel that only when something is “done” it should be released for the public. That way we wont have to go through tons of updates to correct issues day one that should not be there. Im cool with all of that but…Info is needed really bad right now. We the users and PS fans need more updates about what may or may not be going on with current future apps to be released soon. Its Aug.31st and…No e-mails or news of when this beta is coming out!? I really hope when I wake up Mon. Sept 1st that this beta and e-mails are ready to go. Sony has the full right to release anything they want when they want but some times it gets a bit out of control. LwP is coming after some “paper work” gets settled!? Socom beta is coming a few days later(Only 5 days late but…Why?)than expected. And here we are on the 31st with no e-mails or official update of what to expect dealing with Home beta!? Its not that Im complaining or anything but I just feel like if Sony is to use this PS Blog area to speak to us the PS fans and give us updates and news on everything PS…Why cant some one simply reply to when we should see e-mails coming and when the beta will start? That would clear up alot of ??? that people may have right now. I really hope this beta/e-mails comes out Mon. rather than someone from the Beta dev. team posting some “Good news and ok news” update that really is saying “Its dalayed…Again.” Other than that…Keep up the good work Sony!

originally Home was to come out with the ps3 then it was summer 07 (first beta) then fall 07 then spring 08 then by end of summer 08 then “expanded closed beta” by end of aug, now what? Obviously many people are using it, so why keep it closed anyway? Not enough servers or what, your sony, one of the richest companies in the world, your ceo was the richest man in the world in the late 90’s, you have unlimited resources, so hire more programmers and blog reps, and stop taking hollidays from the internet, you can manage this blog from anywhere in the world, from a beach in Jamaica to your Bathroom at home, and how hard is it to read our messages and respond… i wish you guys would pay me to do it… but when you delay something so long, its like that Duke Nukem Forever that still after 10 years in the making hasn’t seen the light of the public…

There is a hacker on the PSN trying to steal from us. Yesterday (AUG31) I was on my ps3 in a chat and realized i had a message. I opened the message and it said HOME_BETA_INVITE for screen name and HOME INVATATION as subject. The message said I need to reply back w/ sign in ID and password to my psn account. So I called sony (18003457669) to confirm the message to make sure its legit. I read it word for word to them (both times i called) and told them it came through psn and not email. Sony assured me it was legit. So I sent my info, and guess what i sent my info to a hacker THANKS SONY. IM SO ANGRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, it’s kinda hard to not be upset when you’ve waited for it forever, and they keep teasing you that its coming out, I just wish they stuck to their promises. I love sony, and they are wicked. But playstation should be renamed to delaystation cause it would make more sense. It’s ok to have a delay, but having it more then once just makes it look bad, I wish they just push it so far ahead so they know for sure it will be done, so I don’t get my hopes up every time I see something I really want. @Sony, but honestly sony, you really need to stop the delays, it would be 100% satisfaction if you did.
that’s exactly the way i feel too i rather have them say from the beginin that its coming out in the year 2010 and release it early rather than say its coming out this year and all we do is wait and wait and keep tellin us to be patient and enjoy what is on our ps3 rite now. And to top it all off…it still says apply now for the beta on the canadian ps3 information bar -_-” “end of this month” i want to see their excuse for this one.
I can certainly identify with everyone’s frustrations, especially now that it is officially the end of the month and no update yet. But do remember that today is Labor Day, so don’t expect any news until 12:00 a.m. tonight at the earliest. Don’t get me wrong, I feel that there could have been at least a blog update before now, just to let us know that they haven’t forgotten their most loyal fans and to let us know how much longer we can expect to wait. I do have faith that HOME is going to be worth it, however, there really should be some kind of information update sometime tomorrow, or else I for one (and not one to complain very often) will be extremely disappointed. Again, all I ask for is some kind of info — Please don’t leave us in the dark Sony.
As a long time PS fan I have to say, although it saddens me to even think it, that I’m beginning to lose interest. When I bought my PS3 I could not have been more excited. Since having bought it, I feel (with the exception of a handful of titles) that I have been waiting for the content available to catch up to the system.
I’ve even crossed over to the world of PC gaming which is something I really never thought I would do. I enjoy playing console games, but this sensation of constantly waiting is getting more than just a little frustrating.
I understand completely the desire to make sure that things are as near to perfect as they can be before releasing them to the public. However, if in the meantime the public is starting to walk out the door…

I had no idea that there is not going to be “a home,” as you call it, for the PS3. I’m tempted to ask what source you collect your flawless data from, but with a 100% guarantee, who needs to?! OK, let’s see who can guess what excuse is gonna be heard tomorrow for the delay (yet again) of HOME? I’m guessing its gonna be something like, “Good News and Not So Good News”… Since we at Sony “appreciate” our fans so much, we decided we didn’t want to give you a shoddy product and decided to push back not only the beta release for HOME, but any indication whatsoever of any news or updates also. We feel that like the Socom beta, its better to tease you with a date and then push it back time after time in order to keep your interest in it! We thank you for your patience and know that you don’t want anything but the best, and we hear you, that’s why we’re gonna give you another date. Cause we know you don’t want a crappy Home, but a Happy Home!!!

I am a bit carious if its the end of the month now? Because today is Sept 2, and I still don’t see HOME BETA! I downloaded home theme when it first came out, and I am highly active in the PS3, I don’t see a reason I shouldn’t be able to join. Come on SONY! I know you love teasing your costumers, but that also screws you over by money. Stop with the delays and please give us home right now…

I don’t know why I even bothering checking this site for information if its coming… It’s just a waste of time (Angry Face) I mean seriously though, ever since PS3 arrived they been delaying so many things, why can’t they keep a promise, if they arent sure if its gonna be out on that day, they should push it half a year or a full year so people don’t get their hopes up, that’s cool and all that SONY delays something, but more then once it’s crazy, especially with every other game. Socom just been delayed again too. Like honestly, did purchase myself a delaystation instead of a playstation, because this has been going on for a full year and a half! (Sad Face) I hope to see some good news today though, hopefully home beta will be out by then. It’s now 5:00am, that’s how desperate I am.

I am about to give up hope for this home. I wanted it so bad, I made sure I got the home theme as soon as it got on, I sometimes stayed up through the night to just make sure I was the first one that got home beta. But what’s the use? It’s just horrible lies and teasing, I paid so much money for this console at least they can do is lower their delays and work harder, or hire more people to get the job done. Pfffft…. I am about to lose hope…
I can’t for PlayStation HOME!….I wish I could play all day….but I got school, so I try my best to play whenever I get the chance. XD

I’m not one for rumors, which we all know have been storming like crazy and confusing PS3 users since the announcement of Home.
The aforementioned statement came straight from the Director of Home.

Are writing in a lot of forums, and there has been a lot of buzz about this, but sofar I have only read a few entrys telling they got in, would have thought that SONY would have taken in people all over the world, to be honest it disappoints me, and I have laid a lot of money in their war-chest, even changed internetprovider in order for the download limit to go away so I wasn’t depending on this.
Scandinavia where I live in has a lot of SONY people, even Europe is i big region for them, and still it seems they don’t take care to invite some more of us in to the tests they are doing, wondering why.
Now I know this is the SCEE blog, so I am not complaining to you guys, since it is a problem SCEA should take care off, just hoping that whenever you get together for a cup of coffee, you would remind them that they have a lot of customers that are becoming more and more irritated at them ;-)

I Downloaded The Theme Like The Day After It Came Out And And spent so much time on the store and network and none have been contacted. Sony Where Have You Gone It Is September 2nd and no Home. Why Is There No News Or E-Mails? I was So Exited But now I Might Just forget it, its not worth waiting for something thats not going to happen.
I Spent A Fortune On PLAYSTATION 3 As Did Everyone Writing. So We Would Like To At Least Get Something More Out Of It Than Promises that havent happened yet!!
