PAIN AMUSEMENT PARK OPEN!

Pain Character: Kenny
The Amusement Park is OPEN FOR BUSINESS! I’m really happy to announce the release of PAIN Amusement Park today. If you have been on the “PAIN Train” since the beginning you know this has been a long time coming. If you have never played PAIN before, it’s about time you found out why we have so much fun hurting ourselves and others.

The NEW PAIN Amusement Park represents quite a bit of gameplay evolution from the development side and substantial input from people who post here and on our community site: www.painps3.com

We also took a long hard look at the trophy requirements and after your extremely candid reactions to them decided that it was much better to dial them down. Not everyone who plays PAIN is as good as the top 10%.

Today, we have four NEW content additions:

  • One new PAIN Environment: The Amusement Park ($5.99 USD)
  • Three new launchable characters: Tati, Yeony and Kenneth ($.99 USD)
  • The Amusement Park: A new PAIN environment means you have new modes to cause PAIN, havoc and mischief all over again. Some familiar modes are back (HORSE, Fun With Explosives, Abusement Park) Some brand new modes are here to mix it up (Call da Shot, Clown Toss, Trauma, Hot n Cold) There’s more content in this add-on than there was in the original PAIN release!
  • We also have a fantastic new experimental PAIN mode called PAINLabs. PAINLabs will be our chance to give YOU new PAIN-Based experimental environments EVERY WEEK. FOR FREE! Here we will work with the community (you guys) to build new and improved game modes that will make their way into future expansions. Make sure you are there to grab those Lab experiments when they are posted. We will change them every week! And when you see something you like, post to our boards. I can assure you we read them.

We’ve spent enough time in the incubation stage now. PAIN content is now starting to hit a stride. I hope you guys enjoy The Amusement Park. We have a lot more in store. See you very, VERY soon.

Peace

  • That’s not the point. I’m 27. I have a full-time job and money isn’t the issue here.

What bothers me is how Travis is desperate to try and defend his little baby while deep down he knows that we have a point.

PAIN was released for $10 with 1 level and 2 characters. Name me ANY game that was released with 1 level. It almost felt like the full game was just a demo and now they’re adding in what they intended to be there in the first place but the difference is that now they can charge for it because it’s DLC.
The people who are NOT complaining are infact the kids. They see Travis as the cool dude that makes games and nothing he says or does could be wrong.

People keep going on about how the Developers need to make a living too and charging for every character is fair. No, it’s not.
We gamers ALSO have a living and bills to pay. When I buy a game I expect it to be complete. I don’t expect to have to purchase more stuff for it just to make it become a ‘complete game’.

Sorry but those that can’t see this are the ones that are kids and have no concept of money.

All I’m asking is for Travis to acknowledge our complaints and take them onboard. Constantly trying to defend something that is obviously wrong just doesn’t do him any favours.
Take a step back Travis and look at this as the consumer. We have bills to pay too.

    [end rant]

  • Travis…one of the best purchases I’ve made.

Not sure why I haven’t picked it up previously, but when I downloaded yesterday and finally got around to playing (so many good games and new games lately), I haven’t laughed so hard in a long time.

    The game is really entertaining.

    Thanks,

  • Hi again Travis
I noticed today that since I got the free game update PAIN is not recognizing that I have any music stored on my HDD.

I have nearly 100 songs on there but I can’t play them through the in game jukebox.

    Any ideas?

  • I’ve been trying to get these trophies with no luck. These are the worst trophies on PS3 so far because they’re all time consuming and mundane. Looks like I’ll be moving on to something else now.

  • @Onna: I am actually 22 and I go to college full time. I am not made of money and I don’t buy a $60 game without blinking an eye. I mostly rent games or wait for a huge price drop then pick up the games or buy them used. My only gripe is with the DLC characters and thats it.

@Travis: I have played the Amusement Park more today and have to say you and your team truly did an excellent job. I can tell you guys put a lot of effort into it. Its also much easier to get points in the Amusement Park I find then in Downtown. I got my first trophy today for the 2,000,000 in the Abusement Park & After Hours. Thanks for lowering the requirements for the trophies. Although they could’ve been easier the Amusement Park ones are fun.

  • @travis

    “I’D KNOCK HIM OUT!”

    LOL!!! NIIIICE!!

I love a little smack talk amongst developers..

do you realize you guys (game developers as a whole) are kinda like celebrities for gamers? Like rock stars of programming!

I think this industry needs more outspoken and controversial personalities, like yourself and a select few…keep it up! i think it’s ok to piss people off, this is YOUR work you are defending! as an audio/visual artist myself, i can totally see your side!

anyway, keep up the good work, great job with PAIN so far, hope you guys keep supporting it for another year!

    peace

  • I can see Travis has run back into his hole since he has nothing of relevance to say that would either make sense or persuade people he thinks are idiots who buy his bologna.

I guess I’ll have to settle for deleting this game from my hard drive. Good luck ever selling another game, Idol Minds. You’ll need it.

  • Ever heard of “weekend” Madman? Travis has already said enough as it is, repeatedly. No matter what he says its a mission with no ending.

  • @ChocoDK, ow because you’re in college publishers just have to give games for free because they have to think about you? Sorry to say this, but that’s “real life”, some you can afford, some you can’t.

  • Onna you don’t have to be so rude for one thing. Also I fully realize that the whole world doesn’t revolve around me either. I was making the point that not everybody whining here is a child and some people do have bills to pay or go to school. I was not imposing the fact that the add-on characters should be free or not.

Also I don’t think that games should be given away free and nor did I even say that. I just personally dislike the idea of DLC period. That doesn’t mean I don’t support it though I just have my opinion on it.
