  • The game looks cool and trophies is a nice bonus.

  • Noo! SONY, STOP. You’re going to burn my wallet!

  • YES!!! I CAN STOP CRYING EVERY NIGHT WAITING TO PILOT MY AG-SYS ANTI-GRAVITY SHIP IN FULL HD!!! Thank you Sony and Studios Liverpool for ending the wait!!

    LET’S BE FRIENDS!

  • Hey Jeff can you give us a hint that you guys are thinking of implementing the ability to have multiple user ID login’s for the PSN in a future firmware update? Lot of games coming out with trophy support now and also support for local multiplayer/splitscreen. Would be awesome to have each player earning thier own trophies at the same time instead of only player 1. BTW can’t figgin wait for this game. I’ve been a fan of the series since the beginning.

  • we need water and FOOD here in houston !!!

  • THANK-YOU! This game release was pretty much in my head almost everyday since the release of the trailers. I can’t wait, literally, till this game comes out next week. I’ll be counting down the days. by the way i wasn’t sure if there is definitely going to be downloadable content, if there is will it be priced? Anyone could answer please. thanks

  • This is a DAY ONE BUY. The game looks and sounds great from what I have seen so far in the trailers. The price is PERFECT.

Great job to all you guys at SONY

  • must buy on 09/25.

  • Again sony delivers! I’m not that much into racing games but I defently got my eyes on this.

Back in the PSOne days I used to play Fusion :’) maybe it’s time to relive it again…in 1080p!!! XD

  • Guess I’ll have to wait for reviewers outside this blog to address the issue of whether that picture of zone mode is accurate or not. Good to see that this game has music customization since the psp version did.

Sad to see firmware developers haven’t figured out that they shouldn’t wait for developers to allow music customization. If they’re looking to reduce memory use due to in-game xmb, I hope eliminating the video items and playstation store on the xmb is considered. Moreover, there is precedence for elimination of items as seen when using remote play.

  • Oh I am sooooo buying this thing.

  • Yes the picture of zone mode is accurate, they only toned it down moderately. Before in zone every color scheme had the equalizers, now each different color scheme has a different equalizer effect.

The people that think 20 dollars for this is too much, demand a demo, or say “too little too late” have no idea what theyre missing out on and obviously have not played a wipeout game before. WIPEOUT ALWAYS DELIVERS, THIS IS WHAT PSN IS ALL ABOUT!

  • And as far as the 8/16 courses not being enough, you OBVIOUSLY have not played a wipeout before. This is not like any other racing game and it will take most people YEARS to master just a single racetrack. I have been playing WipEout since 1995 and it never gets boring.

  • Great to hear it is finally coming! Thanks Damion! One question… Can you tell me if this game is able to be shared on multiple PS3s? As you probably know, games like Warhawk force you to buy multiple versions to play under the same PSN ID on multiple systems (within a 24 hour period).

  • Will it feature Headset Support?

  • the only wipeout ive played is the demo that came with my psone (that for some reason i still have) and never played the full game due to me not liking the demo. Since this is a psn only game means you also cannot rent it to try it out for yourself so they shoulda definitley put a demo out to atleast give us a taste at the graphics and feel for the speed. Kinda like facebreaker where they only give you a few minutes of gameplay.

  • hey just a suggestion to all those people who are looking for the psn cards. Do what i did and just buy visa or mastercard gift cards it works the same way. Just a suggestion

  • oh yeah and i know all this news is great and all but dont let up on sony because they’re probably going to delay lwp again this month because they’re being to quiet about it cuz when they are really going to release it theyre going to start running there mouths off about a few weeks b4 it comes out. peace

  • This is gonna be awesome! I can’t wait!

  • YESSSSS. day 1 purchase. 9/10 from eurogamer!

  • Day 1 purchase.
I have NEVER played a wipeout game (shame on me), but I’ll definitely grab this one off PSN.

This is what happens when you release kick ass games on PSN with a kick ass price! Do it more often Sony, and I’ll be broke in no time. ;)

  • @iampeck
Don’t expect lwp to be released until the end of 12.2008.

  • FYI: the game is just under a gig according to the reviewer from eurogamer

  • :( If only I was 18 years old and have a PS3…

I have to wait untill my next birthday, and it’s in July…

    …but this wipEout thing is a good-to-know noneoftheless. :)

  • I also thought this one would cost around 40$ like SOCOM….

    But 20$? Count me in…

Can’t believe its coming now, waited for it more than a year and now is here YEAAAAAAHHHH

    ASSEGAI FTW!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you all the greatest game of all time EVER!

Wow. After waiting a whole years for this game it’s finally within my grasp. Just have to hold out for 10… more… looong days.

Also, I wish they would bring back the old robot-y voice announcer guy from XL. He’s the best! *swoon* Atleast give us the option to change the system voice.

  • A good friend of mine owes me for pizza and smoothies. Looks like I know how he’ll be paying me back instead with food. Excellent job, Sony. Gorgeous game with a sweet price.

  • Great news that Wipeout HD is finally being released, and at such a great price, way to go! This is a must purchase for me. :)

I hope we get more games on PSN of this quality.

I also hope the release date is the same for Europe, me being from the UK.

  • I just read this and nearly/sorta/actually peed myself (don’t tell my friends), can’t believe it’s only 10 days away!

I was playing wipEout and wipEoutXL on the original Playstation back in the day, and people, let me just reiterate HOW AMAZING THESE SOUNDTRACKS WERE!

In fact, I still to this day will pop the original wipEout disc into my car stereo (that’s right, you could listen to the music on the game disc on any cd player). And if I remember correctly, right before a race began you could pause, take out the game disc, and put your own music cd in, then unpause and race to it! How about that, customizable soundtrack on the original PS!

I don’t think you could listen to the wipEoutXL game disc (I had to immediately go out and buy the soundtrack), but who could complain when you were racing to the sounds of Chemical Brothers, Orbital, Fluke, Future Sounds of London, Leftfield, and Underworld! Jesus, I just shocked MYSELF!

Thank you Daimion, I’m going to float through the next week and a half!

  • Here’s something interesting that I was only subconciously aware of, but after just reading a retro review of wipEoutXL, it all makes sense now:

I remember several years ago when the energy drink RedBull first started appearing on store shelves. I saw it in the convenient store cooler, and something about the name and color on the can seemed oddly familiar to me, but I knew I had never seen this beverage before so I thought nothing of it. Well, my memory has finally been refreshed – RedBull ads and billboards appear along side the racetracks in wipEoutXL, long before it’s introduction into the American market. Apparently, RedBull has been selling in Europe for quite some time now, and since the game was developed and released there first, as well as the famous/infamous can of “liquid crack,” it makes perfect sense.

And now I can finally put that eerie feeling to rest along with my suspicions that Coca-Cola had somehow subliminally preconditioned my current addiction to their energy drink. *PHEW*

  • Great, now that Wipeout HD is done can we get some Formula One Championship Edition trophies please? I hope my request is not out of place as it’s the same developer :)

  • Oh wow… awesome news!

  • THIS SITE HAS SUM KOOL N KRAYZIE GAMES 3GBH CO .UK

  • While I’m excited by the prospect of getting Wipeout HD…did we really have to have it bumped in the schedule for Life w/Playstation?

Seriously, I much rather have had the Wipeout HD this week over what we’re getting…

  • I am rather excited about this!!!

Hope it’s like the original Wipeout, nice and tough to master :o)

  • wowzers!!! yeah i’ll be getting this game for sure. i love the wipeout franchise & to play it in hi-def is going to be amazing. and 20 bucks for all the modes and online play with 7 other people not to mention trophies…this game is going to be sweetness!!!

  • 101 grooveska & 139 jcasanova:

Go to wipeouthd.com; the music is there (and has been for some time) and it’s extremely good.

    179 LouVelvet:

You can play the Wipeout XL game disc as a soundtrack. Skip the first track (game track) and enjoy. There are a couple of differences between the WOXL game disc tracks vs. the WOXL cd. The game disc has The Future Sound of London’s “Landmass”. One of my favorite tracks ever.
