LittleBigPlanet Release Update

333 0

During the review process prior to the release of LittleBigPlanet, it has been brought to our attention that one of the background music tracks licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qur’an. We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologize for any offense that this may have caused.

We will begin shipping LittleBigPlanet to retail in North America the week of October 27th. Sorry for the delay, and rest assured, we are doing everything we can to get LittleBigPlanet to you as soon as possible.

  • I don’t get why people who are offended by the lyrics can’t just NOT BUY THE GAME?

I don’t buy Islamic bs for this reason. If something offends me I don’t buy it.

Release a special Islamic version in a week for all the lamers that are offended by this.

Political correctness has officially jumped the shark.

  • if it happens to a game like that, we will never see the day when resident evil 5 will be release

  • i wish the 360 was reliable. Sony sucks, no home, no in game chat, losing all their exclusives, rumble is way weaker than the 360 controller.

  • All of you guys need to relax! It’s not like the game is never coming out. You’ve waited this long for LBP. I’m sure you guys can wait just a little bit longer. This is not Sony’s fault.

    PS.
Eye of Judgment needs to be patch with custom in-game music. I’m tired of that same guitar rift!!! @_@

You guys better not complain about my Eye of Judgment comment. The majority of you spammed the Eye of Judgment post with LBP delay comments! =(

  • Everyone look @102

there is your reason for the delayed
    someone got offended

  • I have an idea. To help make up for this absolute bull. Media Molecule should add custom soundtracks. I personally could care less for LBP’s soundtrack and because of it you’re delaying the game. I can understand that a game like LBP is the kind of game you don’t want anyone to be offended by. Although, I think this will hurt LBP myself.

I’ve heard what the lyric means and to me it seems that everyone but Muslims should be offended considering what it’s says and that it’s from their Qur’an.

Don’t get me wrong though, I think you guys are just trying to do the right thing and there is never anything wrong with that.

Please, make up for this some how. I say you get Media Molecule to give us custom soundtracks for our troubles. Especially considering the game went a gold I think close to a month ago and they just now found this out. There were copies just stacked up in the back of stores waiting.

Anyway, I can wait. It won’t kill me but I think Sony and Media Molecule need to make this up to us. Big Time! You heard my thought, custom soundtracks.

  • Wow, I just tried to post a link to were you could listen to the song that this is all about and it says it’s under moderation now, what the hell.

  • @96

    Wake up!

Jesus, Buddah, Mohammed, Sackboy, Kratos, Thor, Zeus, etc. are all fantasy.

  • Why can’t this just be patched? From what I can gather it’s a single song. The game automatically looks for updates upon loading, and the game’s already been shipped. Now there’s the cost of getting all those copies back, sending out a new build to make discs and then ship again.

I understand the issue, but the resolution steps seem to wrong.

  • This is ubsurd.

This album has been out for TWO YEARS.
The artist won a grammy for it.

How is it that this has not come up as ‘offensive’ until now.

Seriously, I am extremely angry about their sensitivity to such a trivial matter that should have been dealt with long ago.

Also, why could you not simply patch it up?

    No mas Nsider.

  • SONY why just not patching it da 1?
Do you know how many games are coming during those days???
Many people will just buy another game instead, not everyone buys multiple games, and people with a budget might just pick up something else.
Believe me or no SONY this will greatly affect your sales…

  • this is by far the dumbest thing i ever heard.games have always use oror have refer to a regioulion this is outrageage.

  • Sounds like someone trying to sabotage the game. I remember when this happened with Buck-Tick, and the song got banned. I can understand this happening though, it’s a culture that people don’t really know much about.

  • I want more Home invites then.

  • give the game to 360, a real game company.

  • @112
Again, the amount of time the delay is is irrelevant. People are upset about the reasoning behind it. Some people, that is as others are just complaining because they can.

  • A european retailer (webhallen) has announced a 2-4 delay in europe.

  • oh and sorry for double post, but is there any way to start up the beta again to satisfy our LBP needs? :P

  • I HATE SONY I HATE THE RELIGUS

  • @124

I draw cartoons of Mohammed every day, they look pretty funny.

  • It’s not like they’re going ram a plane up to one of our buildings just because of one song. That kind of things don’t happen in real life.

  • Well, while we’re at it. I object to all the ghosts I see inside LBP, as I believe you’re condoning devil worship. Please remove all references to ghosts right away.

  • Ahhhhh religion don’t you love it?

It’s like fighting over who’s imaginary friend is better than the others.

    Cheers Q

  • replace that background music with some Barry White!!

  • silly…is it not a fact that the christian bible too says we will all die one day…so if i put the biblical ashes to ashes dust to dust will it be recalled…and what about all the trash talk of the end of the world by preachers…are they being recalled

  • *also

what happened to being able to laugh at yourself and take the world lightly?

We have freedom of religion, and freedom of speech.

If someone doesn’t like how another person is talking about something, it is called a disagreement, not a reason for violence and anger.

    chill pills all around!

    :)

  • @BrianC6234 (and other Islam-bashing fools)

Shut the [DELETED] up. This has nothing to do with “terrorism”. And, you have no idea what the [DELETED] you’re talking about. Everything you know about Islam probably came from a convenient sound-bite on CNN. Pure ignorance, man.

Do your own research, learn, contemplate.

I am just as pissed off with Sony’s decision to delay the game.

  • @103
I’ve always hated you uptight gamers.

  • How many people have actually heard the song, it’s actually pretty good and after hearing it I can see why it was put in LBP.

That said the artist himself is Muslim and has never had any negative media about his music before this. It all seems pretty ridiculas, just because it’s in a game it’s offensive all of a sudden?

  • @132 the Dark Knight-

I know i should leave this alone, and I”M NOT TRYING TO HAVE ANY TYPE OF CONFRONTATION WITH YOU (this is a video game blog, after all)

But maybe if you would explain why those 2 lines are so offensive to you, then people here would understand you better?

thanks, and please everyone, let’s keep it civil!

we are all brothers and sisters in the world of video games!

  • “retail in North America the week of October 27th”

SCEA and other region… IF YOU GIVE A DATE, YOU BETTER GET THE [DELETED] RIGHT.

ALMOST EVERY GAME YOU GUYS GAVE DATES OUT HAVE BEEN DELAYED SO FAR!

  • Poor move Sony! So because there is something that probably 90% of the gaming population won’t even notice they get to hold it back? What about the other games such as, GTA IV for example, that are offensive to other groups of people? Why are things not cut from those games? The game itself had me excited and it was going to do wonders for the PS3. Now Sony has blown it! Good job, you just shot yourselves in the foot!

  • My support for the war just went up to 150%, this offends Americans everywhere.

@D1rk-Knight I hope that’s you PSN name because any level you post will be flaged by me and I’m sure plenty of others.

  • @140
So what?! Like I care, you don’t even know who we really are. So do your self favor & don’t talk about us.

  • @ 50, and all other haters

Levels can be reported and subsequently deleted. If the level is especially offensive, you can be banned and fined for harassment. I don’t know what part of you thinks that you can spit all over others and use their beliefs as a center piece for this, but I do not have this part. This part is what you makes you, without a doubt, evil. You were not born evil, or full of hate, so I ask you people, when did you become so weak minded? Does it at all bother you to know that you had more decency and intelligence as a child than you do now? As far as I’m concerned, you aren’t people. You’re husks of people, who are so twisted mentally, that you may as well go to a very dark place and never leave it. While this is disappointing, you need to have respect for these people, whether you like it or not. Surely if there was a song that said God was lie, some of you would cry foul, and terrorist. You aren’t the center of the world, attention, or anything else, and you never will be.

  • “This game is rated Teen for religion”

  • This is a load of crap. All of this waiting just to have the game delayed at the last second. Another job well done.

  • @50 you are an epic moron.

  • All of you that are complaining need to stop.

PEOPLE GET OFFENDED BY THESE THINGS. I’m sure those of you would get offended also if another country was to do that.

The delay of the game was a smart move by Sony. Not everybody has their PS3’s connected to the Network. A simple patch would’ve not worked.

  • Happy to see that Sony is taking a stance, and making this enjoyable for all parties who get a chance to play it. I’d happily wait 6 days and have a positive launch for such an amazing title, than have to deal with negative press later on.

  • @145
I didn’t say anything to Sony nor I’m offensive from this kind of things. But people don’t respect them self & respect the others. So how am I suppose to aid them?! I wasn’t agree about what that guy did & sending the e-mail to Sony, but after what I saw here & in the forums I totally agree with him.

  • @150
Everything offends someone. There is nothing you can make that will not offend someone on the world. Even worldwide successful movies offend a large population, yet they still sell.

Call of Duty games make money out of one the world’s worst moments. And yet they rule. Why, because we need to let go. The delay is official and there’s little we can do about it, but don’t expect us to be happy.

  • @D1rk-Knight

So because something that only you would notice is offensive and isn’t even a forced option it should be removed from the game? I have nothing against you but what about me for example. I’m a Christian and I really don’t appreciate the religious explanations from dialogue that are in other games. Should this be taken out of those games? Of course I think that it could do without it. But really, I don’t think that should be the solution. I believe that if someone chooses to offend my God and Saviour that’s their choice and they will have to answer to him come Judgement Day. Why do muslims get special treatment now days?

  • Unbelievable (U-_-)

  • This is ridiculous. No one recalls a game if it has loads of “yay god” crude all over it. Open the Beta back up or something. I’ve already pre-ordered and would like to play the game I paid for in advance based on good faith. Stupid right-wing jerks. When will people learn that the squeaky wheel getting the grease is just trying to conform our free society to their narrow-minded, out-dated ways? I can’t believe this game got all the way to gold status without someone saying “Hey, you know some small-minded, backwards cult, in rural Arkansas most likely, that probably doesn’t even own a PS3 is going to throw a fit about these lyrics they don’t even understand.”

  • @155

For the <0.01 that would be offended by the lyrics, a simple disc exchange program along with a online patch if they wanted to ‘fix’ it that way would suffice.

  • @155

People who get offended by these things should not be playing video games or watching movies.

Muslims are still a 100 years after Christians, this kind of censoreship was done 50 years ago.

Religion is crap anyway, religious people are more dangerous than anyone.

  • Thank you sony for thinking about others before your fans and gamers that like the PS3 (I know we’re a dwindling number these days).
Thank you for making my decision easier this holiday on which games not to buy. Thank you for helping me save money. Now I can play Fallout 3 with exclusive dlc on the 360 instead of having to divide up my game time on two consles.

  • They really had no other choice than a recall. Anything else left them wide open to a lawsuit. I don’t like that it happened, but I AM Glad they got the info to us right away. They’re showing uncommon accountability and responsibility to their fans in that regard, and I respect that. Besides, it’s only gonna be a little over a week, and in the scheme of things that’s not really a big deal. It sucks, but in the end we’ll get over it, and still enjoy the game.

  • Not even Holly can save you from me now!!! Not only I am NOT GONNA nuy this game but I’ve decided NOT to become a sackboy after all!!! And I’m taking snake with me!!! SUFFER!!!!
