Hey everyone! Hope you enjoyed the blitz of new info, impressions, screens and footage from Resistance 2 in the past couple of weeks. We’re hoping to continue that today, with the release of our latest trailer for the game.
As development on the game is wrapping up in here in Burbank, and the last few bugs are hunted down and squashed, we wanted to make an announcement we’re very excited about. Since Resistance: Fall of Man, one of the biggest feature requests for the game was that we implemented split-screen online play. We are happy to announce that Resistance 2 will feature 2-player split-screen play for both competitive play as well as our 8-player online co-op campaign! Now you won’t have to stop leveling up your medic just because your friend is over!
In addition – we recently announced the contents of our collector’s edition. Many of you wrote in asking for the bonus disc to be a Blu-Ray instead of a DVD. We can also announce that the Bonus Disc will now indeed be a Blu-Ray disc, bringing almost all of the special features to you in High-Definition.
We are excited to play you guys online during the public beta in the coming weeks, as well as when the game releases on November 4th.

Hey could you guys look add a few features to the wanted list for Resistance 3(we know its gonna happen :P )
– 2 player split-screen single player campaign(just like R1)
– 4 player offline support for 8-player-Co-op mode
– Custom soundtracks if possible.(fingers crossed optimization gives you guys some spare system resources)
– The ability to get some guns from R1 / R2 / R&CF:ToD as bonus weapons (add them as unlockables :P please)
Other than that i can’t wait for R2 — and for the next R&C game.(oh and tell Naughty Dog to increase their studio size so they can alternate between Uncharted and Jak&Daxter each year… )
Hey, just wondering, is the public beta the final version of the online we’ll be seeing in the actual game?
In post #30 it says R2’s campaign is for one player only. It is my opinion that the split-screen co-op campaign of R1 was one of the game’s greatest features, because it allowed two friends to play it together from the same couch which is cozy and enjoyable. I played though R1 with my girlfriend on super human difficulty, and we were really looking forward to be playing R2 together as well. Now I’m not so sure I want this game.
Why did you, Insomniac, decide to remove such a great feature and downgrade the game on this particular point? It’s not like it’s more difficult to implement that the other R2 split-screen co-op game modes. Why? Please answer.
I’m getting mixed signals — post #33 vs #106. Could you please clarify? Does R2 have local split-screen co-op campaign like R1? [Y/N]
Ah, sorry for spamming. Seems the answer in post #129 explains it clearly. Though the reply in post #147 sounds like tricky Sony marketing speak… =)
Since we’re all aware of how much SCEE suck, please ensure that the blu-ray disc is multiregion for those of us who chose to import the collectors edition.
Will the unlockable skin also be available to those who’ve imported it?

I bought your Qore Episode 3 and like it stated i HAVE to get my CODE by yesterday and i didn’t.
All i can tell you is that I hope your game sells well b/c i won’t be buying it instead i will be buying GOW2.

You always seem to fall off as the generation goes forward. No one ever listens to the right fans at this company. I was playing and listening to people that never played the first one and I can understand why so many will feel left out. What defines what? That ? was never answered by the heads. Disappointing. I’ll buy it, but chances have been missed, I think we all can agree.

I have Qore ep. 3 and really can wait for the beta (that’s burning me in the inside). Anyway, I wish I could pre-order the CE (even without knowing the Blu-Ray change, by the way, it’s great). Damn, I don’t want to give the credit card number, can’t trust nobody. Please everyone, try not to buy many CE of the game, or Sony you could make more CE available at launch.

You really need to fix the respawn points on this game, they are horrible. I can’t tell you how many times I get respawned in the middle of the enemies and keep dying.
Could anyone let me know if there is online split screen co-op?
I was playing with a friend today and we wanted to do online split screen and we didn’t see it anywhere.
I am loving the beta, but when i play split screen on my 22″ monitor in 720p i get black empty spaces on the sides. Is this like this or patched in the full game?
In LBP beta, 2P can login to another user on the same PS3. What if your friend was over and you created his login in on your PS3. Went to sign up for PSN, and used existing user. Would this not work for co-op?

couple questions:
1. can you guys make weapon selection in splitscreen show only in each playes area not over the other, its hard to play when friends are choosing loadout.
2. the guns sometimes seem weak. iv heard this from others, is it just me sucking? thanks so much in advance!!
the beta site is down or something the beta game is great where can i find the beta site i check insoms website but nothin an whats with only bein able to go up to lv10 an will the lv we get to transfer over to the gamewhen release
I hate it when games don’t have an offline competitive with 4-player splitscreen!! It’s the dumbest thing ever. There’s nothing that’s more entertaining then playing 4-on-4 with 2 systems and a LAN with a bunch of your friends…
the only thing that would be close to that much fun would be player 4-player split screen co-op….but that’s not an option either…
What’s the deal?
I still get confused with the single campaign and co-op campaign… the difference? that one you can use it online and the co-op isn’t? or I’m more confused what I thought? anyway, I really want the ability to log in with a different user in player 2. Little planet do it just fine and is really sad that the ps3 can’t do it by default. It’s really needed and more with trophies but oh well, I hope that you people make it that like LBP.
James – the beta rocks. But can you confirm the split screen format? We’ve been having fun with it in the beta, but on our widescreen HD TV, it alters the format to standard TV (4:3) and splits horizontally.
Will the game have the widescreen vertical split like in R1?
The beta is so awesome! I have met so many new friends just playing the co-op mode.
It is very addictive almost like world of warcraft! LOL!

I HAD RECIEVED THE BETA THE DAY BEFORE IT ENDED AND THE GUY AT GAMESTOP GAVE ME AN EXPIRED PASS CODE. I MEAN I WENT THEIR AND BOUGHT IT SO I COULD PLAY THE BETA.
