Hi everyone, in the next PS3 firmware update (v2.53), coming soon, we’re improving the way the Flash Player works with the internet browser. In addition to being able to access more sites using Flash, you’ll be able to enjoy:
- Full-screen mode playability
- Live movie (using RTMP format) playability
Now it’s going to be even easier to enjoy web content on your PS3, in full-screen!
@ 115, I’m having the same problems. Hulu chugs like crazy and freezes the browser and NBC videos don’t load and play at all, but when I go to Adult Swim the videos play fine.

That’s cool. What about allowing the browser window to be displayed full screen?
I don’t like having to zoom in to see the page. I think the PS3 could take advantage of the full screen to display the web page. There is too much zooming and moving around when I’m on the web on my PS3.

LMAO! It wasn’t. It was simply moved. go to account management, hit triangle. The rest you’ll see clear as day.

When I click on the video menu item on NFL.com it just says ‘loading’ forever. The browser is getting better though slowly but surely. Hopefully this update will prevent the lockups on sites like CNN, etc…

… though it’s sad (and rather embarrassing for Sony) that the Gamer Advisory Panel (GAP) section of the PSN web site is still not functional from the PS3 or PSP.

You guys rock. I just came back from college over the thanksgiving break and wanted to show my family some videos online, and it is such a great feature to have on the ps3. Full screen makes it oh so much better.

If you had come to my home and personally asked me what I most wanted in the next PS3 firmware update I would have said “better support for video content via Flash.” This is awesome. I do not have a television signal. I pay only for a nice, high-band-width internet connection and I use that for everything (data, television, phone, etc.). This saves me a ton of money, but I was getting sick of watching television shows at my desk. Being able to watch them in my living room on the HD big-screen is huge for me.

Thats whats up, I thought mine was the only one that did it. Next they need to let you listen to music while you are playing games!
A good thing could be that with HDMI output and listening MP3, the PS3 activate only the correct output.
For example, if PS3 have 5.1 output configuration enabled, listening mp3 music, always send to av.receiver 5.1 output.
Nice and good job Sony. Just do me a favor and someone get NBC to fix their Heroes and 30 Rock full episode pages (still getting Flash 9 required error).. Thank goodness for hulu :)

change your password or email/id through the XMB, then try one of your trophy enabled games. Then come back here and talk about backing up games when it tells you they’re made by another user
You desperately need to fix the Save File issue….a lot of people are having it and it’s beyond frustrating. I hate having to start a game over…especially just because I reformatted/updated my hard drive…(and apparently don’t own the profile for the game saves….annoying.)

I hate to tell you, but what I suggested to do (changing the pw or id info thru XMB) seems to be the common trigger to what causes that save file error. Now if only the boneheads at Sony would fix it. I was telling 182 to try it since he suggests backing up your files which doesn’t help anything considering they say they are made by another user.
Here’s a feature we need, the option to delay the update. You sign-in, it prompts you that there is a new update and you select “ask again the next time I sign on.” Of course after X declines, it will eventually require it. Sony, please consider this.
same browser problem from Hungary. I have the 60gb version, and since the 2.52 update, and still with 2.53, my home page index.hu stops with Java error (did not happen before), and from then on it is impossible to navigate further. Also youtube videos are with black screen, just the sound plays. Fix it pleeeeease.

If it’s possible I’d like to see real time mirror effects on the XMB icons, like on the Store icons (at the bottom of them).

Thanks for the update. But hey I have one. How about being able to password protect a profile. Right now your parental controls are easily bypassed if the parent has a open account. All a smart kid would need to do is just use daddies account to play something M rated. It would be well to have the kids accounts with parental controls. But to have the parents accounts with just a password to get into the profile. Just a thought to help secure the safety of children and all. :-)

Sony, your forum is taking me to hell and back just to submit a post. First, fix the forum, it’s a PITA to use. I just typed a long post and when I hit submit I as told that my post needed to be shortened to 1,250 characters. I would have loved to edit my post but I wasn’t given the option; instead, it deleted my post and made me start over. Anyway, I went to submit a new post complaining about what I just described (a carbon copy of this post) and I hit submit. I received a message saying “error, 404 not found.”
Hopefully the third times the charm……..
I’m also going to attempt to make another post so I can convey the feeback about the ps3 that I was originally trying to post.

I would still love to see an acknowledgment or a fix for the issue where 720p only games down scale to 480p instead of being upscaled to 1080 for those of us with older HDTVs.

Okay, obviously my posts (4/5 of them) have showed up on this thread – I was getting an “error 404 not found” message everytime I hit submit so I though the posts weren’t going through, my mistake. Now that I’ve mad an @$$ of myself, onto my original intended feedback.
1. The updates and improved support for the system has been excellent. Thank you for listening to our feedback!
2. The stability of the browser has never been pefect, but iti’s gotten significantly worse after the 2.52 update, and it was noticeable after the 2.50 update. The browser freezes/crashes the sytem quite often. I also receive alot of “this page cannot be displayed” messages at random after the 2.52 update; I never saw one before the update.
3. More support for date enty/word processing. We at least need to be able to cut/copy/paste text, etc.
4. Add a way to turn off the feature that deletes all text when you hit shift+backspace. If you can speed type and use the ps3 to post messages, this feature has probably ruined your good mood on many occassion. I speak from experience,
CAN WE GET SOME NEW AVATARS PLEASE! I understand you’re trying to prevent obscene ava’s by now allowing us to put up our own, but at least UPDATE the damn list once in a while!

This is great and all, but when are we going to get Matroska and OGG Media support? It’s nice being able to play what it was already able to play…just bigger. But .mkv, .ogg, and .mkv are getting to be more and more commonly used file containers.
Perhaps even an allowance of third party codec packs? CCCP seems to always be one of the most recommended packs. Sony needs to get on the slightly more obscure-yet getting to be mainstream filetypes if it ever wants true dominance of midea. I can do everything sans the PS3 games on my PC. WHy not have a real media centre?

As for chaning the ID yeah I can see that triggering it because it’s tied to the ID you can’t change that because it would then enable people to use other save files that are not there own.
Guard your PSN like your SS Number!
something cool wold be a partnership with Firefox to make a browser…

@226 I changed my PW from the XMB and my trophy enabled games load fine, strop trying to load saves that your PSN ID did not create. Also backup your data. =)
