    Surprisingly, I’m agree you.

    @MakaiOokami

I wonder what’s going to be done about pulling a Quincy, sitting while someone else sits on the ground in front of you, and people doing the robot in front of you while sitting, waiting for your turn to bowl?

  • “Surprisingly, I’m agree with you.”

*chuckles* As if that actually matters. The opinions of cheap knock-offs mean even less to me than the opinions of the general population of the GFAQs PS3 board, and even I didn’t know I could care that little.

  • Wow…..the grammar was so horrific that I couldn’t even remember it correctly enough to do a proper quote. Anyway, I think I’ve made my point.

  • @AlexTrampoline,

There’s little the developers can do w/ getting hd streaming videos in Home; I’m sure they would have to have multiple rooms just for the same video, and even if we do get hd vids in, you better hope you have a fast connection so you don’t have to wait about half an hour for the movie to start playing…

  • Fantastic news.

Home has been much more peaceful and enjoyable without all of the crappy rap music that seemed to get constantly blasted by idiots.

Home has turned out to be beyond our wildest dreams. The Home servers are constantly packed with people having an amazing time. With the massive number of new Spaces on the way it is hard to imagine how incredible Home will six months to a year from now if it is already this wildly popular with gamers.

  • $5.00 per month for voice chat outside of personal space

x 12 months per year = $60.00 per year = xbox live gold account subscription.

  • Are we going to have to redownload everything again like with the last update?

  • How about being able to spin the ball in pool? :)

  • Only personal spaces and clubhouse FTL!!! I’m barely ever in personal spaces and clubhouses, so WTF? I’m always at public places so this is still useless to me. :( Hope you guys bring it back. And the title was VERY misleading! >:(

  • Ah, and day/night cycles as #56 said would be amazing.

  • I personally hope that this is only temporary fix. As much as I have been on Home I really only ran into 1 racist and that was via text chat and I only ever heard one person with music in the Background and that was some oldies song so it didn’t really bother me.

When it comes to the people who are blasting music on their mics well we can always mute them. As for all the other complaints such as Racial Slurs and Cursing well I think a some sort of 9 lives rule should be implemented. So something like…

    Get Reported…

3 times = banned from Home for a week.
6 times = banned from Home for a Month.
9 times = banned from Home Permenantly.

for those who just like to grief people they really shouldn’t be allowed on home even if your trying to advertise to them. They just ruin it for everyone else. I think as a community we should be able to somewhat police it ourselves and make sure that people don’t ruin the experience for others.

    What do you guys think?

  • Will the singstar mic work with home?

  • I kinda prefer not to have a voice chat option on the Square, its much cleaner and less spammy that way. I know aggressive people like for example EvoAnubis wont agree but I couldn’t care less either.

If it keeps the server stable and let me hear less retarded people then its excellent, besides that you can still talk in ” most ” games and in your personal spaces/club house.

No need to whine and give stupid comments.

  • I am a true admirer of home but Sony needs to put more attention to clubhouses.

1-)all of my furniture disappear each time I quit my club.

I cant send messages as a whole to every single club member at once

  • I still don’t understand why someone can’t get a usb keyboard for Home- you could find one pretty easily somewhere for $6-10.

  • yes i like of this solution. keeps away the bad language and the stalkers.

  • As for some of the things I would like to see implemented in Home those are…

    – Streaming Pictures,Audio & Video
    – Trophy Room
    – Random Weather Effects etc etc etc…
    – The theater to be more like what was orginally shown instead of walking into the theater only to be already at the screen.

It would be also cool if the Christmas tree was free or anybody who bought one actually found a christmas present from Sony under their tree, I don’t know maybe some sort of random Item for free or the same thing for everyone. Just throwing out idea’s for you Sony.

Of course more spaces and items for our avatars & apartments.

    To be Continued…

  • The thing that bothers me though is from what I read people in Japan have all those Namco Bandai Machines and Namco Bandai are working on a space for Home which is great and all but I think that if Bandai Namco can work on a Home Space and add all their little trinkets from the Soul Calibur & Ridge Racer Series that they can update their older software with patches that add in stuff like Rumble support & trophies for Ridge Racer 7 & some of their other titles that lack support for those items. I mean how long would it really take them to add those things into their games, what maybe 1 to 1 1/2 months. I really feel all games no matter how old should all have Rumble support & trophy support.

  • he,that was fast.
Good work guys and gals at SCEE.

  • Damn right I wouldn’t agree. Go into your options, turn voice chat off, and shut up. I refuse to let whiny people dictate what happens in Home. If a person is too stupid to know how to set their options, that sounds like a personal problem. As for me and the Hellfire Club, we’d like to voice chat wherever and whenever we wish.

  • I don’t think many care like it’s a big firmware update but the update is live here on the West Coast in the United States.

  • Can we PLEASE get the crappy music on Listen@Home changed, or patch to allow our own in game music?

I mean honestly…who wants to hear those same 5, 6, 7 (or how ever many there are) songs over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over [DELETED]…

  • @71… that’s part of the problem & I’m sure a great reason behind the change (and a more than welcome change at that). Not everyone wants to hear you and your Hellfire Club running your mouths everywhere you go.

DO you have voice chat on this board? No. Are you able to type perfectly fine and get your message out regardless? Yes.

What makes it any different? Is everyone complaining about no voice in public areas going to start saying all message boards should have voice chat? It would be the same situation, not everyone on the board would want to hear you and your friends rattle your mouths off.

Live with it people. Ovbiously it was done because the MAJORITY of people wanted it this way. Myself included.

  • clubhouses dont work properly. furniture will not be saved :(

  • @ d3adliner

I think that voice chat is best suited for some places and not for others. Such as when you bowling you should be able to Voice Chat with the other players on your team and no one else. If someone that isn’t playing wants to talk to you they have to text it to you. Same thing goes for Pool. When it comes to the Arcade no voice chat as you are most likely focusing on the game not anybody talking to you, so they can text you.

The Theater should not have voice chat just text chat.

When it comes to the other places such as the Mall,Central Plaza or the rest of the bowling alley well if it is that bad then I really think that is what the tools they gave us are for. Muting,Reporting etc etc etc… and if they implemented some kind of policy like I mentioned previously see # 62 then Home could stop some of what is going on.

  • @ Wolf26pack

The Trophy Room has been put on ice, it’s being replaced by the ability to unlock home items or home locations based on unlocked trophies. e.g. getting a “I survived Resident Evil 5” T-shirt when you complete the game (that was a made up example btw, not a confirmed item!).

As for the Theater you’ve obviously been looking at the EU Home – the EU Home has a large two-level lobby area with 10 cinema screens branching off it each showing a different feature. The downside is that when you’re viewing a screen you cannot interact with anyone – you can’t walk to your seat like you can in the US one.

Hopefully Sony will eventually merge both elements – the EU’s lobby area with the US’s interactive screening rooms…

  • Thank goodness. I hate text chat.

  • @ Apnomis

That is too bad that they iced the Trophy Room. It would be great if they merged the concept of geting Home Items and getting the Trophy to put in your case, or even Minature versions to put into your home on your mantel or something. I mean come on they are trying to sell storage items in Home couldn’t one of them be a trophy case that we actally put our trophys in?

As for the Theater I knew that what I was looking at was the EU version of Home but didn’t know that you couldn’t interact with anyone in it.Hopefully like you said they merge both elements so we will have the best of both worlds.

  • Will this update force us to redownload all our spaces again?

  • Very good solution. I love the idea not to have to listen to random idiots saying stupid stuff.

    Keep up the updates.
Home has the potentialto be something very special for the PS3 online community

    Thanks
    SPARDA

  • @ tirminyl

No. I was able to go everywhere I went before without having to redownload any of the spaces again.

  • I will be very disappointed if public voice chat gets axed for good since voice chat and while bowling or other mini-games is a very important feature, since typing is relatively cumbersome.

  • SERVICE IDEA –

My only issue with the public chat was how loud someone was even at a “great distance”. I suggest looking into forming chat/voice groups like THERE does. This feature would detect when 2 or more users (up to number X) are directly speaking to one another and group them in such a way that their chat bubbles and voice transmissions are more focused on them. I don’t know if this would be possible due to patents etc but I would look into it. I think it would greatly enhance the service if chat goes fully back into public domain

HOWEVER! I agree with tezasaurus, We desperatly need direct voice and VM in xmb. I play socom with a buddy of mine and as it stands I have to Actually call him and discuss what type of server we want, try to join said server and then once thats complete, I can hang up and then talk in game with him. ITS VERY CUMBERSOME and I feel its the one feature thats a MUST for a console today.

  • you know, I have tested the beta for about 5 months now and didn’t miss having chat whatsoever. While the notion of a chat system would be good, there are just too many people out there that would (and did) abuse this option. I think it was smart to go with non-public chats since most people might not want to talk with someone in the public space.

Everything has improved from the original beta test and major kudos to everyone who’s worked so hard on this.

  • Sony had a GREAT opportunity to implement a simple “permission-based” solution to the voice chat issue: when someone walks up to you, a bubble appears asking you if you’d like to voice chat. If you click “no”, then you can’t hear anything they say, and they can’t hear you. SO, you never hear anyone that you haven’t asked to hear.

But, once again, Sony decides to make a stupid decision and act like our MOM and DAD. And it just made their product a little worse in the eyes of many people.

In my eyes, the whole point of Home was for social interaction. And they’ve neutered that entirely.

But no surprise. That’s Sony’s style.

  • This is a smart way to re-introduce the feature. Well done!

  • Thanks for the update Abigail.

May not be able to chat everywhere in Home, but at least the feature is available in certain locations again.

  • Once again, if you don’t like voice chat, go into your options and turn it OFF. Is that confusing you? Don’t want to hear other people? Turn it the hell OFF.

Did you really just compare a blog commenting system to Home? Really? “Well, you can’t talk here either, so what’s the difference?”

The difference, smart one (oh my God, please let sarcasm carry in text), is that Home is a social application for bringing together the PlayStation community and this is a damn blog!

Should I use smaller words? Very well.

You no like voice chat? You turn voice chat off.

It’s in the options for a reason. It’s been there since the closed beta. Try using it. Otherwise, shut up.

  • And, for the record, voice chat being offline in public spaces has nothing to do with you morons too stupid to use your options, and EVERYTHING to do with fixing it for the rest of us before they bring it back.

  • great ideal sony keep it this way for now on i been part of home since the closed beta and should had been feature in there . i know a few of you out there are going to disagree but ever since home was open to all ps3 owner home been haveing problem from logging in, and now butt head who can not control themselves from improper language , disrespect female, racist remarks , loud music (not only rap all music ) am sorry this is our own fault not sony. yes we will have these same problem in closed beta but they were few and far plus you can report them and they boot now i bet they get 1000 reports in a hour you cant keep track of all of them i dont care who you are . i think sony is going to have to look long and hard about raising the age limit if the story true they also need to look into background check and criminal record am sure they dont want what my space had to go through .

  • I’m confused… i don’t have any censorship on my acc. is it just me?

canadian, and my age isn’t real on the account.. i bought the ps3 and wanted to have a master acc. seeing as i was the only one using it

  • @25:
Terrible idea. Not everybody has a Visa or MasterCard (or American Express). Not everyone can validate an age with a credit card.

  • i can’t go into one of my clubs. it says the club system is down…i can only get in if i am invited, and no furniture will stay in the club. will it be like this forever?

  • Yeah bring voice chat back and give the options to the users.

It’s bad enough the US government takes away our rights I don’t need Sony following along.

  • @ 21

That’s what I’m thinking you should have some kind of party chat, have it so more them two person can talk to each other, if I’m playing pool with a friend and i have another friend come by how am i going to be able to talk to him?
have it so if a group of ppl are have a part chat and someone else comes in if he is rude anyone in the party chat can ‘quickly’ boot him or her out, this way no one has to listen to there foul language.

Also can you plz make the preview of the items in the store larger, why would i buy something i cant even see?

  • Thank you so much for getting it back in so soon. This is what we need for Home to be a success, developers working their butts off and providing the customers with updates as soon as possible.

  • [[Once again, if you don’t like voice chat, go into your options and turn it OFF. Is that confusing you? Don’t want to hear other people? Turn it the [DELETED] OFF.]]

It’s not JUST about offensive comments. With ALL of the idiots making sexual comments toward EVERY female avatar that comes along, it’s just a matter of time before Sony gets sued. It just takes ONE grown man trying to hook up with ONE little girl (or boy) and the gates of hell are going to open up.

Text chat can be logged and recorded. If somebody texts a lewd comment to a minor, they can be caught and arrested. (ever seen Dateline?) With voice chat, it’s not so simple. So I agree. You should only be able to voice chat with friends, or in a private/club space.

It’s not a perfect fix, but it covers Sony at least a little.
Also, I don’t think there are very many adults complaining about this, unless of course, they are the ones who were planning to make Home their pedophilia playground.
