Hi Everyone –

We are very excited to announce that as of today, PlayStation Network will offer movies and television programs from NBC Universal. Universal Pictures has a huge lineup of new releases, including MILK and ROLE MODELS, and other favorites like THE 40-YEAR OLD VIRGIN and THE BIG LEBOWSKI. Today’s announcement makes PlayStation Network the premiere platform for downloading your favorite content from all the major movie studios.

You’ve been asking for it, and now we have it….. NBC’s THE OFFICE, HEROES and 30 ROCK as well as Sci Fi’s BATTLESTAR GALACTICA and EUREKA are also available starting today. New episodes will be added the day after they air, in both HD and SD.

Keep checking out all of the great new movies and shows because we are continuously adding more movies, series and episodes. Enjoy!

Ok, I’m good. Thanks for the info, Grace!

  • Great news for the PSN! I eagerly await the day that the PSN Video Store is available to Canada. I am certain you are working on it, so I am not complaining; just anticipating.

  • This is great news from Sony and NBC!!! Can’t wait to view 30 Rock, Heroes, and The Office episodes. Hopefully they have previous seasons so that I can catch up on the stuff I missed!

  • Well PSN just got one of the best shows…ever! Seriously though, The Office is pure gold.

  • Hey…is it just me, or are our PSN Avatars MIA?

  • where are the PS1 classics?

  • BSG in high def? time to upgrade my hard drive again. i wonder if 320GB will be enough.

  • TrueStoryGuy

  • 30 rock is all kind of awesome.
    <3 Tina Fey <3

  • Sweet! Oh wait Canada gets the shaft….geeze sure wish I could give you my money. Oh well.

  • About time these guys supported the PSN. The bias needs to end!

  • Niiiice! Battlestar Galactica in HD is awesome.

    NOW PLEASE, LOWER THE PRICES.

    Thank you. :)

  • this should shut some of those 360 fanboys up. Now hows about some Netflix or Blockbuster Streaming??

  • “Hey…is it just me, or are our PSN Avatars MIA?”

Whoa . . . no, it’s not just you. I didn’t notice it until you mentioned it, but you’re right.

  • And it’s not just in this post, but everywhere. What’s going on?

  • unstablefears

Wish Canada had the video store, hope it’s coming soon!

  • “You’ve been asking for it, and now we have it” We’ve also been asking for CROSS GAME CHAT! Still no sign of that

  • The only thing that would make this announcement better would be to offer DRM Free video in 1080p HD and Surround Sound!

Otherwise keep the content coming in.

  • I sure hope the TV shows are free like on nbc.com and Hulu. Don’t try to charge us for something we can already get for free, please.

  • Vengeful-Chaos

I have ONE thing to say to this post.

    The dude abides.

  • yeah CANADA really needs this service…. I really hope it won’t be much longer as it’s already been way overdue

  • gamestopper09

    nice job!

  • Awesoome NEWS!!

  • wow! who need streaming/renting companies when you have this? thank you psn for letting me keep my favorite movies instead of renting them and I can even transfer them in seconds for psp viewing on the go.

  • Eureka! :D <— giant grin!

  • all i see is bad show bad show bad show, Eureka yay!!!

  • StalkingSilence

Whoah! I didn’t think iTunes even had NBC content!

  • very nice, but what about germany? Why cant u make this aviable for german users :( . Im a big fan of SciFi Channel Series like Battlestar Galactica, and i love watching them in english because imo movies should be watched in the language they are made in (hate german sync <.<) .
Why cant you let me buy em on my ps3 :( , importing the dvd´s always takes so long ^^

  • Any news on when this is coming to the UK, or is it never.

  • Would be great, if it was available outside the US!

  • Nice. Any plans to add a subscription service for tv shows or a purchase season option?

  • StalkingSilence

You already had Chuck, which was weird since you didn’t have NBC support. But the addition of The Office is great. I have all seasons on DVD already.

In related Universal Pictures news, Role Models was pre-ordered from Amazon on Blu-ray and shipped yesterday.

  • haran_elessar

woohoo Battlestar Galactica in HD…awesome. It would be great if prices were more reasonable, as it is I could buy a Blu-Ray in amazon for around the same price or even less. A special price for those of us interested in downloading a whole season in HD…that would be great.

    keep it up!

  • TheGuardianFID

    Sweet!!!:D

  • so when will europe finaly get this lovely flavour of PSN goodness?

  • MainEv3nt_69

and when is the video store coming to Canada???

  • ummmmm how bout you have the service in canada before making improvements…

  • Would someone be kind enough to explain why I would want to pay to d/l shows that are already available on their respective network sites for free?

    Thanks!

  • dehumanizer_666

    once again Canada misses out….

  • It’s good to see that you’re adding more TV shows in HD. I could easily imagine using the PS Store to rent an episode of a show that I’ve missed, but only if I get to watch it in HD…

  • Will the TV episodes be free? We can access most of them from our PC for free.

  • islandfellow2

I like the PSN video store, but the one thing that keeps me away is Netflix. The PSN store with a monthly “all you can eat” subscription, and Netflix is history….for me.
