Ratchet & Clank Future Weapon Design Contest

Hey everyone,

It’s been a while since we’ve talked about Ratchet & Clank, but we wanted to give you an early scoop on a couple of things happening with everyone’s favorite lombax and robot duo!

First off, we’re excited to announce Captain Qwark’s “My Blaster Runs Hot” Ratchet & Clank Future Weapon Design Contest Sponsored by Gadgetron, which will hence be referred to in this post as CQMBRHRCFWDCSG. We’ll post the full details of the CQMBRHRCFWDCSG next Friday at www.ratchetandclank.com, but in the meantime if you want to get a head start on CQMBRHRCFWDCSG, you should brainstorm ideas for a new Ratchet & Clank weapon. To enter, you’ll need to provide a description of the weapon, as well as an image (this can be anything… even a Captain Qwark-style crayon blueprint!). The prize is going to be pretty epic, and every Ratchet & Clank fan will have a chance to recognize the winner’s hard work.

And in honor of CQMBRHRCFWDCSG, we’re having a sale on Quest for Booty! You can download this pirate-themed fun-size adventure off the PlayStation Network at for low sale price of $9.99. If you haven’t had a chance to play Quest for Booty yet, this is your chance!

Some other super exciting Ratchet & Clank news, DC Direct has revealed the line of Ratchet & Clank figures that will be available this fall. Here’s a special sneak peek image of the in-progress figures, though these guys are still getting some additional love! They should be available this fall!

Also, one small request from us at Insomniac in the spirit of March Madness, head over to the Escapist and vote for us! While you’re there, make sure to vote for some of our other good friends, like Naughty Dog, Guerrilla, SCE Santa Monica, and Zipper!

NO Quest for Booty doesn’t support trophies. But this game doesn’t need trophies. R&C: QFB was the best %15 dollars I spend on a DLC.

BTW, I just want to show some support for R2. I just got done reading the Reistance (and now R&C) figurines thread on Neogaf (i dont have an account there or id have posted), and im allways annoyed by the people coming down on R2, one of my favorite games of 2008. Keep up the good work!

No Trophy Support, and it doesn’t need it. One of the best downloadable games, and worth the $15 none sale price. R&C fans likely have it, don’t let trophies stop you.

BTW, Fall can’t come soon enough. Will you have updates on the Blog as far as new games go, down the road closer to launch?

Insomnimaniacs;

Here’s a non-trophy related question about the next game: will there be benefits for having a Tools of Destruction or Quest for Booty save file?

I’ve had to replace my PS3 since I finished those games, and haven’t replayed them. Just wondering if there will be a reward if I do.

Back with some questions about the contest:

Will the design be used in RCF2, similar to the unlockable skin of James in RCF? (In the post you said: “The prize is going to be pretty epic, and every Ratchet & Clank fan will have a chance to recognize the winner’s hard work.”)

Will there be runner-up prizes, and how is it decided who wins?

I’ll probably have more questions later :P

I LOVE the Ratchet & Clank series!
(Only disappointed by the PSP one that is not by Insomniac.)

I must admit, the most exciting news would be trophy support for Tools of Destruction and Quest For Booty! :D I guess we will see!

Or, the announcement of a new Ratchet & Clank game! Or both! hehe

Trophies would have been fun for both R&C games but I honestly don’t miss them, so that people don’t buy an amazing game only because it doesn’t have trophies I’ve got one word it… “PATHETIC”. You had to play game for the past 2 decades without trophies and now all of the sudden you no longer buy games as they don’t contain trophies?!

Concerning those figures are they available for International shipping? I’d really like to have R&C and Captain Quark :-D

For the game I can’t wait to play it on the PS3!

Quest for Booty was well worth the $15 I paid for it when it came out. At only $10 and with more content than most PSN games, this is a must-buy for owners of Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction.

Is there any chance you guys will patch any of these two games with trophy support?
