I wish they’d lower the price a bit. I mean it’s really nice having this ability, but they’re more expensive than blockbuster since blockbuster doesn’t change me more for HD.

Until that changes, I’m just going to keep ignoring these posts.

Quick question, how come on a lot of new releases you can only buy the SD version? You can never rent HD or SD. is this a problem for anyone else?

So dont blame Sony. Its your strict copyright laws that make it SO hard to bring Tv shows and Movies there.

I just wonder how long until we can download videos straight to our PSP’s, no PC/PS3 required.

That, or remove the currently needed software used on PC’s since I loathe the media manager software.

Microshock said:

March 27th, 3:14 pm

Quantum of Solace is a SONY PICTURES movie and this is a PLAYSTATION STORE ON THE PS3.
Why the hell isn’t it on the store first day? That makes no sense to me, you’ll still get money from the dvd/blu-ray sales and it really wont deter anyone thinking about getting the hard copy

The video store is getting bigger in terms of content, but can be much bigger and there is still a lot of work to be done in terms of delivery.

Do some research before spewing misinformed comments. The CRTC governs broadcasting laws here. Read the following under broadcasting:

Services that broadcast over the Internet or through other mobile devices in Canada don’t need to have a licence from the CRTC.

Hey, that sounds like the PSN Video store doesn’t it??

I believe it’s broadcasting corporations in Canada that owns broadcasting rights, either televised or on the internet. Never wondered why sites like hulu don’t work in Canada? Corporations wanting a piece of the pie are the ones to blame for this situation…my two cents…

@3, 15, and 28

There can’t be any Bond films on PSN because Microsoft has the contract for the to be distributed on 360…. ya why would Sony do that to PS3 gamers?

That’s not really our fault. Companies pressure government’s a lot. Let’s not turn this into a political discussion.

Sony, just try your best to bring the video store to Canada.

ThreeLeggedFreak said:

March 27th, 6:07 pm

No Bond on PSN is indeed weird, I don’t think it’s on XBL marketplace either, but I know it’s up on itunes. The way it works now is Fox distributes MGM films, which is what QoS is, so it might’ve beeb a Fox/Apple deal.

In terms of Bolt, Disney has always been way behind their releases on XBL and PSN compared to itunes, and they are the only ones that don’t offer movies for purchase, only for rent on XBL/PSN, but they offer them for purchase on itunes…..

Looks like another great update, I hate to do this (well not entirely lol) but what about Canada? I’m hoping you guys are hard at work on trying to get this, or at least working on other great PS3 features. Also the whole Netflix rumors (Netflix right?) seam pretty awesome, it would be sweet if that came out to.

March 27th, 8:45 pm

Please Grace…I have now been asking weekly for months…can you please address your users concerns over the re-download policy. I can’t imagine the anger people feel when they BUY content and find they can’t redownload if there is a problem with their PS3.

Please address if this is being considered for change. If it isn’t then I can stop wondering about ever using my PS3 for Movie purchases and move on with my life. I did invest in your hardware as it was sold to me as the ultimate media console but your policy on re-download certainly leaves it far from that.

I think a re-download fee of $1.00 to cover the bandwith is even a reasonable thing but to have the TOS state what it does is not consumer friendly.

Sony, Sony, Sony, Sony, Sony, Sony, Sony, Sony, SONY!!! Please.

Playstation owners worlwide would love to help you bring your division, and the corporation back into better financial standing, but you have to give us a respectable service,

Our brothers in Canada, Europe, and Austrailia are still waiting for the oppertunity to even access this video service. This is a major concern, as most of the big competitors on the market are already offering this kind of service in those regions. SCE needs to get this thing up and running ASAP, We all know Sony is an innovator, but the way things are going right now it seems like the company is playing catch up, and Sony is better than that.

Topics of concern regarding the Video store are in my post below.

KBG29 said:

March 28th, 1:29 am

-This issue has to be addressed. Consumers can not be locked down to this rediculos DRM system in place right now. It is sicking that I can not wat5ch TV shows that I have purchased in my bedroom because I bought it on the PS3 hooked up in the living room, or visa versa.

We need the same 5 active / unlimited downloads DRM featured on the Games side of the store. How the store ended up with one of the best DRM models ever on one side, and possibly the worst ever on the other is beyond me.

-TV shows are over priced. Simple as that. An SD season of a TV show is $30 at Walmart. PSN is charging nearly $60 for a full 24 episode season, that only plays on one device thaks the the above mentioned DRM. Sorry, but no thanks.

Additionaly, why can we not purchase seasons?

More in the next post.

I am actually kind of happy the video service is not available in Canada. Simply because I would probably spend too much money on the videos, and I do not need anything taking a bite out of my gaming budget.

i still think they should have a few free offerings now and then… like a weekly special or something.. or movies/shows/videos with a one-time viewing for free or super-discount.. and have a section for those movies/shows… and is there any thought on perhaps putting music videos in the Playstation Video Store..??
