inFamous Not Releasing This June, After All

Many of you may be wondering when we plan to announce the release date for inFamous. Well today, we have a little surprise for you….the release month is no longer June. Now wait, I know what you’re thinking…inFamous is NOT delayed, in fact, the guys up at Sucker Punch have been working so hard that the game will be releasing in the U.S. on May 26!

Now with just a little over a month until the game hits shelves, inFamous pre-order goodness begins today. Those who pre-order the game at participating retailers will have a chance to get one of the following:

An exclusive ‘Gigawatt Blades’ Super Power: The Gigawatt Blades supercharges Cole’s arm into an instrument of destruction unmatched by any other melee weapon in game. Although very powerful, you’ll still have to use this weapon wisely, as it takes a considerable drain on your powers.

Limited-edition inFamous costume for Home Avatar – Look like one of the REAPER gang members.

Early access to the official Game Demo. Be one of the first to play inFamous on May 7th.

And, yes, the inFamous demo will be made available to everyone on the PlayStation Network on May 21. We’ve got a lot more surprises on the way the next few weeks, so stay tuned…..

WOW! That is great news. Finally a game is released earlier then expected. Giving a realistic release and dropping the game early is much better than missing an expected release date and delaying it. GREAT JOB!!

To all the complainers and Ritalin babies: EVERYONE will still be able to play a demo BEFORE the game releases. Reading is fundamental, but please learn to comprehend the arrangement of words that are obviously scrambled in your brains.

WOOOO Great news, the day I get out of college also Fingers crossed that Chelsea can keep the lead on Liverpool in the UEFA champions league. 3-1 first leg. Second leg is gonna be 1-0 chelsea or a draw I can feel it.

Also are we going to see home unlockables in the game, like Infamous figurines to decorate our home space? or is it only the clothes from Amazon?

hmm, I’d like to get the reaper costume, but I’d really like to try out the game and read some reviews before committing with a preorder. :(
Also, last time I preordered from Amazon, my game didn’t arrive until a week and a half after it was available in stores >8[ Isn’t that the whole purpose of preorders: to ensure that you have a copy reserved so that you can pick it up day #1? I think I preferred the days when people bundled all the goodies into a collector’s edition and charged an extra $10 rather than having the goodies spread out across preorder deals with various retailers.

very cool news the game looks amazing! Probably will buy this game cause it looks different..Different is always good!..Now please give us some good news on XMB being used for HOME I hate the music in there.. In fact I aviod going in the Main Square acpet Xii because its nothing but annoying people.

Is pre-ordering from gamestop the only way to unlock the in-game power? Or can you unlock the power from in the game itself by playing it too? If it’s the latter, then isn’t it a little unfair to withhold content from us? Especially those of us who can’t afford to pre-order it?

Ever sence I saw the music video for the game (its up for down loade at the store) I’v been flipin for this game.
Its the only game that could keep me from pacing a rut though my floor waiting for Uncharted 2.

i have a question…
By the look of the special pre-order power it seams as if you will only ba able to use this if you play as bad Cole. Will you be able to use it if you play good too? thats the only hesatation I have about preordering. other than that you got my money Sucker Punch! :D

So yeah, I preordered it. Don’t care much for preorder goodies, just need a release date before I do these sorts of things. Also of note, this only the second game i’ve ever preordered (the first being Killzone 2, worth every penny). I’m kinda awkward about buying stuff that technically doesn’t exist at the time. Well that and I’m kind of a cheap bastard as well. Congrats to devs for sucking (or zapping) another $60 out of me (actually $56, amazon always gives me a nice lil discount).

To the people haveing ‘issues’.

Please look up the word BONUS. If you wish to not have a BONUS you can still order the game from your fav retailer when ever you want. You can even try the demo before the game is available in stores.

Don’t forget to support your game makers by buying new.

This is great, now i can get patapon 2, sacred 2, and infamaous in the same month! I am really looking forward to this game…. Getting tired of fps games! Need more rpgs and adventure type games!

To the people complaining about the pre-order demo bonus…stop please stop! Are you that cheap that you can’t put down $5 if you don’t like it you can get your money back. Secondly, pre-orders insure that lots of copies get to stores…have you ever went to a gamestop to get a niche game where you didn’t pre-order and no one else did? They usually won’t have the game or even know about it. Hell I still can’t pre order cross edge from gs…there like what huh..never heard of it. is that on xbox? God stupid xbot gamestop employees.

Anyway sorry to rant but you also need to realize to that unlike the killzone2 demo this one is coming out for everyone 5 days before release not 1 like kz2. Which gives you whiners no reason to whine. If you want to play the demo even earlier than pre-order it’s as simple as that. Now get out of here whiners!

i dont mind the pre-order bonuses like amazon’s home costumes and gamecrazy’s early demo, but what i do mind is a weapon IN-GAME.. i mean cmon we all wanna try the all the weapons and we dont really have to order from a specific store to get a certain weapon its annoying. hope the weapon will be available for all later.

What stores can I pre-order at to get these bonuses? Please tell me EB Games will offer these bonuses because they are really good about getting pre-orders to you the day it comes out, unlike Future Shop <_<

Took them a week for FS to get KZ2 to me, I just went and got it from EB the day it came out and returned the pre-order.

Hello, I heard a rumor that the Gigawatt Blade power is unlockable in the game, but you might not be able to get it until much later and/or it will be very hard to unlock.

Does anyone know if this is true? I really want the PS Home costume from Amazon, but it’s hard to pass up an exclusive ability. :(

But other than my /sadface, good job Sucker Punch and Sony for delivering a month early and giving more awesome pre-order goodies! :D

Less demos and more cool stuff like costumes and powers though, pl0x.

The power up is “exclusive” to Gamespot but eventually it will be available in the PSN just like Kratos in LBP; or WE WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO BUY THIS SPECIAL POWER??!!? I´m right now outside USA, but I am planning to buy this game when I come back (june) and I would like to have the Gigawatt Blades Super Power. :(
