I Wanna Take YoU 4 A Ride this Thursday!

What’s up P-Essers? I’m here today to announce the imminent arrival of one of the worst kept secrets in the industry. You’ve seen the ESRB leak. You’ve seen the MadCatz joysticks. You probably visited a cryptic sight called www.tu4ar.com that just counted down to zero.

If you’ve been paying attention to my blogs and interviews, I’ve been leaking info about this day for quite some time. We conducted this Gamespot poll back in March of 2008 to gauge interest on what games you want to see us bring back. We listened to your feedback and tried to work quietly on the project. Well, as you know, I’m not the quiet type (the PR Ninjas here don’t like me so much). There was this MTV interview in June of last year, my PS blog on August 14th alluding to a Street Fighter surprise, and numerous blogs after that teasing this announcement.

So what’s the announcement? Here it is, officially:

Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 Summer 2009

Yes that’s right. Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 will finally arrive on PSN this summer! For more information on the full game, go visit Capcom-Unity.com.

But wait, there’s more. Here’s the freaking ace up our sleeve:

Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 Store Banner

This Thursday, April 30, PlayStation Network users will enjoy a free, exclusive MVC2 demo! No need to purchase another game, just download it straight to your PS3 and get ready for some triple tag team action (A big thank you goes out to Rommel Hernandez who helped make this exclusive demo possible).

Here are the details of the demo:

  • Two-player local matches
  • Six available characters – Ryu, Chun-Li, Strider, Spider-Man, Iron Man and Wolverine
  • Seven selectable environments
  • Upscaled 1080p graphics
  • Widescreen or 4:3 aspect ratio
  • Two graphic filter options for character sprites
  • And other cool options to check out

Make sure you visit www.tu4ar.com for the latest MVC2 news and follow us on Twitter for special promotions and prizes!

And I’ll leave you with one last, cool little video, exclusive to the PlayStation Blog. This is an alternate music version of the trailer on tu4ar.com.

Enjoy!

From your friendly neighborhood Capcom employee,

John “HIERO 9D3” Diamonon

  • lol @ not being able to press 2 buttons at once… Those x2 and x3 buttons are nothing more than a crutch…can’t do that crap in the arcades.

  • Wow, thanks for making a demo that cannot be played…..way to go guys.

  • Yeah I also agree with the above comment… I thought I would be able to play the demo until the whole game become available but i don’t have another PS3 controller. Basically the demo is useless to me. Despite this disappointment, I would still buy Marvel vs Capcom 2.

One thing I did like is the fact that the demo took up less than 200 MB of memory

  • how do u download this demo?

  • What am I supposed to do with this Demo? No really? What exactly?

I cant believe Capcom thought this was a good idea and that not only did Sony Approve it they advertised it. Did anyone at Sony try the demo out before putting it on PSN?

This is as worthless as the Horse Armor in Oblivion. No, actually the the Horse Armor is more useful than this demo.

    Thanks for nothing Capcom.

  • I bet there will be no response from John Diamonon about this crap either now huh?

  • 15DOLLARS??? I am feeling feint,i was gonna buy a ps2 just to buy this game,my ps3 wont play,i am saving $65!!!!!

  • LoadRaoh said What am I supposed to do with this Demo? No really? What exactly?
Maybe the demo is the key to the full game.
Some games do require you to download the demo first and then buy the game so just save it until the full game comes out.
But I agree with the few people who said that there should be a training mode or versus computer for the people who have only one controller.
By the way the demo is not as worthless as you think but thats your opinion.

I agree with you 100%. adding 2xP and 2xK buttons makes the game less arcade like. If you need to use a single button for 2xP or K then you might as well not download the game and leave it for the arcade experts like myself. Besides it is not living up to the MvC2 sprirt if you want to add that.

  • I just download the game can’t seem to play online or anything !! Can someone help me?

  • Man I knew this was to good to be true

    Why to go crapcom.

  • Crud man game video for this looked awesome. I in fact was lucky because, i do have people to play with an 4 controllers. What I really did not like was the fact that it was really kind of button mashing also can the graphics be a better please than i will buy this no matter what

  • I prefer the PS2 controls (allowing one button to push P x2 or K x2) than this crap. This isn’t the arcades, it’s a PS3 controller, so getting into the “spirit of MvC2 arcade version” is impossible. Sorry, but I’m not going to buy this game if I can’t control my characters the way I need to. That’s the problem with fighting games nowadays…not being able to have the control that you want. There is always this little nitpicky thing with every fighting game. I have yet to find a perfect fighting game that is suited for the console controller…maybe one day a gaming company can get it right.

  • What ?? no single player vs. Cpu ? guess it would have been too hard to put AI in the game that could fight.I miss the old days when a demo was actually playable. I can’t play it by myself. thanks for nothing.

  • Oh yea cant wait i played the demo version for like 6 hours i cant wait fo this game, it would of been even better if it would of been an exclusive… you know its not to late…psn exclusive baby!!!!

  • For Vertigus and all those who complaining about the amount of buttons, if thats the reason you guys are not buying it then don’t. having 2xP and 2xK buttons is the handicapped way of playing.
I never use them on the PS2 version ( I turn those buttons off) and the dreamcast version ( which the game is based off of because it was near arcade perfect).
We could both go back and forth on this little issue, but I prefer the Capcom leave the button issue the way it is. Besides, if you don’t like the arcade style Capcom is going for then continue playing the PS2 version because you will lose the majority of your matches on the PS3 version.

  • Way to go Capcom you dumb idiot why you ask? The demo was worthless because I couldn’t play It online with my PSN friends Daraaa.. Stupid idea from CAPCOM and SCEA not doing anything about there mistakes..ONLINE FOR DEMO! NEXT TIME LISTEN TO WHAT PSN PEOPLE WANT NOT WHAT YOU WANT SONY!..AND NO I HAVE NOBODY ELSE LIVING WITH ME RIGHT NOW! =(

  • That was stupid a demo but guess what I can’t play it because its just me because I only had 1 controller so yeah the demo was piontless I deleted it.. Nice going Phony and Capcom!..Next time ONline on all demos! Xbox360 has this feature why not the PS3?..Stupid..

If u dont have the 2xp or 2xK the game will not be playable…this aint the arcade were u have a joystick and buttons in a line across…this is used only for the special so this is crucial ….no matter what u think..as long as it has a button config ill be able to figure this out if it dosent have it…but it should remain as the ps2 version…

  • Does anyone know when this is coming out cause im going to explode.

  • Dang!!!!! how much is it gonna be ….

  • I downloaded the demo only to find that its only a local 2 player demo. No one player mode and no 2 player online mode. So being I live alone and have one controller, the demo was pretty pointless unfortunately :-(. Uninstalled without ever seeing the game :-(

  • u should keep it installed so when it comes out u have it ready to go….

  • Well I search the internet and I found the top ten dumbest reasons why people won’t buy the game.
    10. the game sucks!(common)
    9. it does not have a double kick and punch buttons(common on this forum)
    8. the demo sucks(common everywhere)
7.I want Dante, nathan spencer, etc…(downloadable characters)
    6. I want udon to redo the sprites
    5. the music sucks!
    4.mugen is better.
    3.it’s not the PS2/Xbox version
    2. I don’t like fighter games
    1. I already have the game on the ( dreamcast PS2 or Xbox).
These are the complaints I saw in the many forum that I looked at. If they don’t want to buy it because of any of these reasons then good for them. I’ll be playing against the real competition when the game comes out.

  • LiLDemon818 said ” If you don’t have the 2xk or 2xp buttons the game will be unplayable

    …..You’re kidding right.

  • wow i never thought this game would be re-released again, but thats great news considering me and my brother loved this game, and we played it so much together haha… even though my friend scratched my game and ironically iceman froze the game along with a few others GREAT news thanks for the heads up ^^

  • John

i love how you respond to the posts of people here the good and the bad and you dont take [DELETED] from them more power to ya.

  • Oh my god! The demo really was in full widescreen! I was worried after still having black bars on the side with SF2THD in widescreen. You already have my money, I’ll be waiting. ;)

  • Out of curiousity, what is your the highest combo without using the hyper attack (partner A and B)?
What I mean is using a single character and getting the highest combo possible.
Mine is Felicia’s 103 hit corner combo.

  • Alright thats whats up. There’s gonna be lots of beat downs.

  • @324

Look up the word “sycophant”, that’s you.

  • the video music left me deaf… *shrugs*

they should also bring Street Fighter III 3rd strike hmmm yuuummm

  • this game is owesome

  • Trophies for STF 2 HD remix i know no but, hopefully we can get them

  • So much for trophies, they don’t do nothing but to give it’s owner prestige, nothing else. If those gave me a discount in the store for example…that’s another story.

  • what they need to do is patch that demo and make it online. SSF2THD was a beta and it was online. i dont see why they cant do it for MVC2.

  • yo i still have mvsc 2 for ps2 and it works on ps3. the ? is will i be able 2 play online now with like a add on or is sony lame and making me re-purchase my now $80.00 game?

  • I must add after reading all the comments i would agree the multiplayer only demo is a weak idea but as far as control goes its the same as ps2, isn’t it. I havn’t played it yet but would assume the controls would be the same and any real fan would have played that and the arcade

  • Bring this 2 psp PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

  • It’s a nice demo.
I just hope they add some features besides online that some players would like that was on the Dreamcast version of Marvel vs Capcom 1, like Survival mode….man, what happened to survival mode? Maybe a Dramatic mode similar to the Street Fighter Alpha/Zero series (2 on 3 or 1 on 3 maybe?)would be nice. Keep practice mode for the newer people that never played the game. Also, I’m glad Marvel and Capcom are back together. Maybe they can re-release, either on PSN or an actual BD-Rom, an anthology of the Marvel/Capcom fighting games that was made throughout the years (X-Men: COTA, Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men vs SF, MSH Vs SF & The original Marvel vs Capcom). Capcom did what they could do with the schematics they had with the original PlayStation, but I know a lot of us gamers were sadden to not get a true tag-team format of the game on the PS1 unless you played Crossover mode or you entered that code for X-Men vs SF or if you was lucky to get the Japanese Sega Saturn game version of those games and the Dreamcast version of M Vs C. I hope they get it right. And no, the value of the PS2 or XBox version didn’t go down. I still have my DC version, but I sold my PS2 version on eBay for $123 dollars a few weeks ago.

  • best arcade fighting game ever made!!!!

  • that you i think u were reading my mind

  • could u guys get capcom to get the first one out to buy @ the store that would be sweet

  • thank you

  • Hey John, any chance we’ll see street fighter 3 retouched anytime soon? (or in the near future for that matter)

  • @John

Damn you really step up the plate here~! Keeping your pimp hand strong and still floating on HD sunshine and DL rainbows. Seriously though I read through just to see your comments~! Good times good times. Glad to see Capcom has decided not to leave Sony in the cold for ever. The fans are still here for ya… waiting… on PS3… with monies.

  • That’s great for the fans. I was lucky and I have MVC 2 on japanese and english.

Hope everyone be able to get this game, it totally rocks!

  • haahaaaa yes all you out there better watch out for my threesome lol…..

  • MVC1 or MVSF would be nicer IMO.

  • Hey John Diamonon, i did a tribute song to street fighter (HipHop)… you have a email so i can sent it to you? or is it okay to post a link?
