Hello all! The SCENE Expansion pack was recently released for Metal Gear Online, which came with a ton of exciting new features, maps, and of course two new playable characters, Vamp and Raiden. But there’s even more content coming soon! Starting on May 12th 2009, all players, not just those who have purchased SCENE, will be able to play an entirely new game mode, Race Mission! This mode pits two teams against each other, with the Blue Team searching for and protecting the KEROTAN target, and the Red Team searching for and protecting the GA-KO target. Each time a team passes a check point with its target in hand, a new checkpoint will be generated. If a team drops its target and the target is not retrieved within a set period of time, the target’s position will be reset and the checkpoint will change.
There will also be an exciting new “Patriot” feature available to all players, starting on May 26th. This feature will select a few lucky players every week starting from the 26th, and give them exclusive access to a 5.56mm Hand Rifle with infinite ammunition and no reload. Players will have access to these unique “Patriot” features until the next ranking update. You’d better watch out when a “Patriot” joins your game!
These new features are open to all players, but there’s even more content available in the three MGO Expansion Packs: SCENE, MEME, and GENE. All three are available via Metal Gear Online’s in-game shop and Konami’s shop. Along with all regular methods of payment, you are now able to use the PlayStation Network Wallet payment system.

still not the mode i was hoping for (snake equiped with patriot VS PMC´s) but i’ll defenitally play it again :)
just asking for a new map (one with snow from 1998 :P) and trophy suport is for wuss’s! MGS is just too good for that! anywho, see u on the battlefield guys XD

Metal Gear Online is one of my favourite games to play on PSN, and I’m so glad to see more updates increasing the experience. Race Mode seems mad fun, and the Patriot feature very clever.
I refuse to go through the stupid Konami sign-in process, so until MGO incorporates PSN I won’t even try it. This is exactly why Sony should have followed MS’ model and required universal online standards (i.e. standard username/password/friends list) for all games on PS3.
That Konami ID screwed my whole MGS Online expierience :(

You’re missing out. MGO’s system is much more intuitive than the systems I have seen built with PSN integration. Try it before you bash it.

The only thing all of us really want is trophies, and something related to the single player campaign, enough of the online mode.
dont you just love how all the other blogs on here have replies from the devs or whoever that can confirm and give answers to the peoples questions, but if you look at this and all the other MGS blog posts, none of the dev’s or anyone has stepped up to answer any questions….and the biggest question of all..> TROPHY SUPPORT <

I mean, rather than thinking of modes no-one would want to play, why don’t you think about getting trophy support? Or… yaknow… RESPONDING to our questions about trophy support? Maybe even make the Survival matches (‘OFFICIAL’ matches) less laggy than the ‘UNOFFICIAL’ matches?
Also, try reading the community site every now and then. I bet you’d love the racial slurs and death threats that come from an un-moderated forum.

Haha i really hope someone from konami is following this. 90 % of posts completely ignore the content at hand and are all trophy related. Hows does konami expect to market anything MGO related? this is a disaster…

Brandon, seriously. Just stop posting about MGO updates that no one cares about on the Blog. Clearly the communication is only moving in one direction, and it seems if you guys even get around to pondering the features the fans would actually like to see (PSN integration?), Uncharted 2 will be here and then MGO will certainly be dead…if it isn’t already.
Again Brandon, Konami can press-release this garbage. I think your posts on the Blog serve more to alienate fans, as their requests are obviously falling on deaf ears.
Im really impressed by the amount of support by the MGO team, but honestly, I would rather have trophy support than another piece of DLC.
There is only two things wrong with Metal Gear Online: 1) Not using playstation network for Metal Gear Online, and 2) The DLC is too expensive. If you have bought every piece of downloadable content so far, you have paid $45.
Sorry, trophies is the only thing that will get me to really want to revisit this game and DLC. Well, that and removal of the Konami ID stuff.
Even if you don’t like trophies, given the outcry you’d think they would add this by now.
this is another post off topic but i want to say it in case someone from konami reads all this and realize how much the community wants trophies. (and psn integration but i dont think that is possible) but if trophies are added please dont make the online ones a huge grind like the resistance 2 or gta4 trophy.I dont mind hard trophies cause mgs4 is a good enough game I dont mind spending alot of time with it.

I’d just like to say that I bought a PS3 for this game and it was totally worth it. I do not know how MGS4 could be any better, imo it’s pretty much perfect. Just keep adding more music for me to play on my i-pod.
…and trophies are not necessary at all. MGS4 has a series tradition of emblems, so why would we need trophies?
The only thing we need, ABSOLUTELY NEED! is SNAKE vs SACKBOY, and Sigint costumes.
The only thing that doesn’t sound good is about the Patriot and the whole, “infinite ammunition and no reload”, thing. MGO is already bad enough with the people who play this game everyday, and most likely, being a “Patriot” will have something to do with rank, so those same losers will boost, then bam, one hit head shot from a person who has infinite ammunition and doesn’t have to reload….ever…
Grow up, no one cares that you want Trophy support. You already bought the game.

Konami and the MGS team have done a great job continuing to release new content for the MGS series; but with so many issues (such as the lack of trophy support and a horrible log-in system) they should have worked on strengthening what is already there. Bringing more “maps” is only going to make it harder for them to satisfy the fans of there game (with trophies and PSN linkage), it is almost a year old and it still doesn’t seem complete to me until they fix the most basic features to there game.
Peopple should stop complaining about trophies!! they are really worthless on MGS4 and MGO we have levels, we have animal ranks, we have game points… all the people say “if you put trophies i’ll play mgo” wtf, dont even think about coming if you dont play mgo already, you will get OWNED all the time, you will not get your trophies because you will not have the patience to earn them… and for the people that say mgo is slowly dying… i sometimes see how it dies at 4am having only like 500 people playing then i log in on the afternoon and see more than 2k people… thats more than what we need to have fun
and BTW i think konami once said that they are NOT planing to put trophies any time soon… so dont expect them… most of the people on the MGO comunity does not give a $h!t about them they just go to have fun and earn ou OWN trophies… not to show up (some people do) but while we have fun playing a game we like, not just playing a lot of games and getting trophies as fast as we can just to show up how many time we spend playing videogames… in 4 words

I keep seeing people whine and complain about the fact that they need two different names and pw to use MGO. So..a whole Five minutes is just going to ruin your day? Stop being lazy and just TRY it, you might actually enjoy yourself.

Did you ever use the patriot in the single player game? It may be able to spray bullets everywhere but its accuracy is Garbage even at Medium range. They may not have to reload but I’ll be able to put a bullet in their head with my G3A3 from half way across the map.
All the while I am sure they’ll be spewing bullets at my character, but that does not mean a single one will actually Hit me.
Do not worry about trophies!!! Give us more content and more expansions and we will be happy, trophys have never made a game and never will i hope. This generation of gamers don’t know where their mind is at.
Keep giving us content and maybe some extra content for MGS4. Shoot i’d take previews for other Konami games over trophies.
I’m not listening until trophies are announced.

If this game just used my freakin PSN login, I would be more about it. Trophies would be nice, but I don’t care about them as much as some others do.
That new game mode (Race Mission) sounds pretty good, now, that patriot thing, hmm… The player who gets chosen as patriot is probably going to get kicked out of every game he joins, LOL!! Just gotta wait and see how that’s gonna work.
Spawn camping and shooting the mgo noobs while being a patriot, that sounds good to me……

As far as trophies go, the game is awesome the way it is. The only thing adding trophies would do is get a bunch of whining cry babies playing MGO trying to prove their superiority by getting platinum. I’m GLAD to hear most of you are not going to play.
