Hello, I just wanted to provide everyone with a head’s up that the next PLAYSTATION 3 system software update (v.2.76) will be coming soon. This is a minor update that improves the playback quality of some PS3 format software.

today i download v 276 mi ps3 dont play mi games!
What the hell is this I downloaded this update and it scrambled my ps3 the ps3 comes on then locks up in a mosaic screen display what have you guys done?
I keep reading posts on cross game voice chat…..seriously, just look at what Microsoft has done with the 360 and copy that. Don’t get me wrong, I love my PS3, but the Xbox is still so far ahead in so may aspects. I hope to one day put down my xbox controller for good, but that is nowhere in sight. Still though, keep up the good addtions, and add cross game voice chat!!!
ok its a pointless update…. but for the next one 3.0 2.8 whatever it is make it big something every playstation fan has been waiting for cross game chat…. we need that.. so to because modern warfare2 is coming out and i rather talk to friends in private then hear those annoying ppl. thanks alot.! :]
ive been very dissapointed with ps3’s firmware. the ps3 has hella potenial but its firmware sucks. X-box 360’s software kicks ass. ive played my cousin’s 360. i know the ps3 is better but i needs a major overhaul in its firmware
Come on sony, forget about playback or format software, just add cross game chat and all my concearns will be gone. With the “power” of the cell you would think it wouldn’t be such a difficult task to manage.
would it be possible to have our own personal avatars??? such as our own picture’s??
1) We need a option where you can join your friends online easy.
2) An option where you can buy PSN wallet funds using paypal.
3) An option where you can send a demo guest pass to your friends from your download list.
4) An option where you can see your connection stats in your PS3 web browser.
5) An update to the PS3 profile that has alot more information on.
I hate these avaters give us custom ones e.g home characters to make people more connected to home, voice game chat, and skype, and either a quicker xmb or a revamp come on Sony listen to your fans.
Will Sony EVER consider A2DP support with the PS3? (x2)
Why can not use my bt headset to hear when play ANY game?

Anyone else having problem with the firmware update? ever since I downloaded the update I’ve been having trouble signing in with my ps3. I noticed that the secondary DNS doesn’t have an ip so I reseted my router and still having the same proble. I have D-Link gaming router and never had a probem ever since i downloaded the firmware update. anyone have the same prob? or is it just me?
Will we get full DivX 7 support and be able to chat or listen to music while playing games?
You should be able to access the media while plaing a game. That would be so BA! Kinda like the 360… but BETTER!!!! MUAHAHAHA
Please…. [all of the above]. Sony has a rep. to be one of the leading manufactures for electronic entertainment. you HAVE to keep that. I have a 40in. 1080p Sony Bravia XBR (its the bomb!) but really though, you dont want microsoft being on top.

-auto sync trophies
-access your email (yahoo, gmail. etc.) at an application on the HOME screen
-when you recieve a message, while the notification is still on the display, press the PS button to automatically access message.
All these + more would [obviously] put (and keep) Playstation 3 on top.

any chance playstation 2 games can be playable on ps3 and it would be better with in game voice chat instead of having to pause and text chat

When are you going to bring back backwards compatibility? I still have plenty of friends waiting on that sole feature to buy a PS3…. and quite frankly, it’s quite a big deal…

Please take note of these features, Sony, and heed our cries. In all honesty, the PS3s XMB needs a total revamp, but if we were to get these features alone, we would be happy.

I’ve got the backwards compatable
80gig if that makes a difference.
It worked fine before too.

I reformated the HD,(4 & 1/2 hours later)
and it’s still messed up.
if the update got screwed up while download, where can I download it with My PC. so I can
put it on My SD card, and update it from My SD card. (mine has card readers too)?

I have a wish list for update 2.80:
1. Voice chat with anyone online
2. Skype video and voice chat
3. redesigned Text chat feature (smaller box)

Updated to 2.76 a few days ago.
I was playing Stranglehold today and the game froze, now it won’t play any disc of any type.

first i would like to sy that ps3 has let down its customers down although ps3 is 10 billion times better than ps3, ps3 could have gave us our mone worth. i hate the act you cant play music an games at the same time. and the updates should do more than just change video visuals and dvd effects.we costumers have spent hundeads of dollars for such disapointment. but i like the nationwide online play

Hey guys I emailed sony service they told me to hold the start buuton for 3 peeps then reformat my hd then the ps3 should work. if not they want $149.00 to fix it from me wtf their damn update they should fix our ps3 for free or at least half the price. My ps3 freezes at the xmb and even froze during the reformatting the hd I even used my 80gb drive I took my 250 drive out when i realized this a bootup or bios problem they have caused
For those having disc read problems:
I am having the same issue. My system runs off of wireless and is set to automatically connect. I found that if you disable the wireless internet connection, discs will load.
The system seems to be hanging at network sign on for some reason and not letting discs load during the process.
Also, you will probably find that your system locks up if you clck the “Signing on” icon and try to cancel. Just go into preferences and disable the internet connection alogeher.
SONY, PLEASE HELP ON THIS!!!

You guys ruined my gaming experience. I don’t think I’ll be purchasing another game in a very long time.
I reformatted the other day. Today I disabled the wireless like DaveInC-Bus said but still nothing. I insert a disc and the whirlpool in the corner comes up and stays there. I was getting an error when it tried to connect to the wireless network but it would connect if I manually clicked on sign in. I haven’t had any xmb freezes as yet. Will we have to wait for another update then???
Also I would love Backwards Compatability on PS2 & PS games.
It can be done for Singstar why not everything else???

I’m not sure if the Sony people actually read this but a great feature for a future update would be the ability to uninstall DLC from the save game data. For example, lets say you got a FEAR 2 online DLC, then you find you don’t play online much, and you are low on hard drive space, then you can go to your FEAR2 game data, and go into options and uninstall the specific DLC that you put on earlier.
I want the stuff from this for an update.

Just feedback to help isolate the apparent problem with some PS3s not being able to play anything from disc after the 2.76 update. I have the original 60GB wireless version of the PS3, and everything (so far) seems to be working fine after the update. I can sign in and load games from disc, so apparently it’s only affecting the 80GB versions (thankfully). Hope Sony addresses it soon, I’d be pi$$ed if I couldn’t do anything with my PS3 after the update.
Mine wasn’t an 80Gb and I am pi$$ed. 2 weeks off work and I was looking forward to completing a few games that I have had for awhile. Looks like it’ll have to be PSN and PS2 games for awhile.
I have a 40GB model and mine won’t play discs anymore either.
This seems like it’s definitely a widespread problem.
Why isn’t Sony updating this blog to at least let us know they are working on the problem?

Also…I was playing Team Fortress 2 when mine froze.. and disabling internet did not resolve it.

hi i have a 60 gig ps3. i had a problem with my games not being read after the new update. by luck i put in a bluray movie and it reset it back and it is ok for now. please sony put a new update out to fix this problem please !!!!
