Hello, I just wanted to provide everyone with a head’s up that the next PLAYSTATION 3 system software update (v.2.76) will be coming soon. This is a minor update that improves the playback quality of some PS3 format software.

Custom soundtracks has been left to developers since firmware 1.8 way back in 2007. I’m talking about access to our music in ALL our games not just a select few obscure titles. I want in-game music in every game.
it is now online, it has a transparency effect when changing between virtual keyboards and I supose they would have fixed chat…
You guys should add computer to PS3 chatting like Xbox 360 has. I hope you do this…

Well this is boring.
When are we getting cross-game chat? This is getting tiresome. I love playing COD on my PS3 but I hate having to listen to other people’s retarded comments or loud music…
Why is it everytime you release a firmware update, it is like 16 or more hours before it is available for download on the website. Maybe people would like to dowload this but still use the device at the same time instead of forcing the update. I think the website should be updated at the same time the firmware is released on the PS3 network.
Will there be a version that you can download and update using the flashdrive, just like we have now for the 2.70? When will it be available?

I really think is great to have the updates coming, but have all the only gaming block until you do it is ridiculous… and even more when the servers where you download the update is not good enough for the amount of people will be doing it. I spend all night trying to download it with out success and of course I couldn’t play because of it…
At least do not force people to get the minor updates.

y isnt it made available for download on the website it doesnt make any sense if ther is an update then allow everyone to get it. and if there is an option for usb it should be able to be used
To everyone complaining about this update being a “worthless” update – perhaps this’ll effect one of your favorite games that tends to crash unexpectedly. That’s an update that’s worth it. There are features that everyone wants to see in the PS3, and with Sony you’ll probably get most of it. I agree – cross-game chat would be amazing. I look forward to it! But how would they do it? How would you manage a cross-game chat with a friend on your friend’s list, and deal with the incoming in-game chat from Warhawk at the same time? That’s a potential problem I see.
I do completely agree that the XMB needs a re-haul-we should have room for 1,000 friends. Some of us on the PSN would probably easily and quickly fill up that list, but most people wouldn’t. It would be ample room. The most important update that needs to be made to the Friends List is the ability to create categories. I have friends from the Gamer Advisory Panel, Rock Band 2, Metal Gear Online and Burnout Paradise friends. Sorting these people into categories would make the management so convenient.
Any replies to these items are most welcome, and appreciated in advance! Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to everyone at Sony!

Number One (notice no First) please ban “FIRST”.
Second Skype for the PS3, I’m not talking in application, I’m talking an application like life with Playstation on the XMB. It would be the best feature ever if I could use skype and the PS3 Eye to talk to friends and family over Skype.
despite the amount of chatter from people wanting everything their heart desires with each update… THANK YOU Eric for letting us know… working in a technology company myself, I do understand that these things take time with limited resource allocations (yes everyone, even Sony has a finite amount of programmers and resources)…

I had some issues with Uncharted as well. For example: I have the trophies for 55 and 50 tresaures, but I don’t have for 45, 40, 35 tresures, although I have these achievements in game.

MGStigerfox, you say that having in game chat would cause a problem, when actually xbox360 has that option to let you private chat while in game…i can honestly say..i love ps3 but i love xbox 360 for it’s firmware which ps3 seems to be copying to satisfy ppl. and the private chat while in game on 360 has no isses what so ever.

– Add OPTIONAL sound for notifications(sign on, new messages,etc.)
-symbols and numbers that represent friends online and messages received somewhere on the XMB and beside message box
-Auto Sync Trophies when received
-More developed profiles(friend’s friends,nicer looking,last online, etc.) + mentioned options on profiles
-Report feature to report issues, cheaters etc.
-Faster loading in-game XMB and profiles
-When you receive a message you should be able to push the PS button for it to automatically pop up as long as the notification is still there and if you are in a chat room the chat room should pop up.

-XMB for PS2 games and movies

Will this update allow us to play PS2 games. I downloaded the PS2 thing an my PS2 games still do not play. Also which games allow in game music. I have played almost all of the games that have came out recently and none of them allow you to listen to your music. So that update was pointless.
