I don’t know how many of you current PlayStation.Blog readers attended last year’s E3 meet-up, but it holds a special place in my heart. It was the Summer of 2008, and a small, upstart blog, barely a year old, met with 50 or so of our closest friends to eat our weight in tacos and drink gallons of horchata.

We also definitively proved that I’m a better Hot Shots Golf player than Andrew Yoon.

Thanks to all who came out!

Fast forward to 2009, and E3 is back to its former glory. I even hear that booth babes will return. So we better step up our game. That’s why I’m happy to announce the PSB E3 2009 meet-up!

PlayStation.Blog E3 Meetup 2009!

On Sunday, May 31st, Chris, myself, and the rest of the PlayStation.Blog staff will celebrate the start of E3 2009 with a fiesta at Mama’s Hot Tamales Café (the Los Angeles location) from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. If I could bring San Francisco’s Tamale Lady down to cook for you, I would. Fortunately, I hear Mama makes one heck of a tamale herself.

But it’s not all about food – the PlayStation.Blog E3 Meet-up will be the first public hands-on showing of SOCOM Fireteam Bravo 3, and the devs will be on hand to answer questions and offer tips. Free food, pre-release game, what else do you need? Oh yes…

In true PlayStation.Blog meet-up fashion,we’ll also be giving away cool prizes, free schwag and a special incentive for the ultimate PlayStation fans: on top of all that, I’m happy to announce that the first 100 people through the door will be granted access to the PlayStation E3 Press Conference, taking place the following Tuesday at 11am!

Note: You must be 18 years or older to attend. It’s a school day :-)

    You are the golf master Jeff, although I beat Andrew also if I remember correctly… (I’ve gotten better, & am ready for a rematch btw..)

    I’ll look forward to seeing you all there. I’m still heavy (thanks Jem for the photo), actually, about 8 lbs. heavier now though thanks to my free MGS4 PS3!

    Save a seat or me at the conference, I’ll take the day off work.

    Jeff, you should do a meet up at Tokyo Game Show this year as well, I’ll conveniently be in the area do to study aboard this September. It will make up for lack of any PlayStation Blog meet-ups in the Midwest.

    Make sure Jeff to get LOTS OF BOOTH BABE pics for all us Men out here. LOTS AND LOTS, I’m sure the Wife won’t mind, lol. I’m sure indeed. But seriously lots of booth babe pictures, I’m not joking. E3 has been lacking in that kind of “show” for a while. Time to resurrect it.

    Last year was so complicated for me that I had to sacrifice the the E3 meet up for the greater good of my situation. This year is a tad bit different. Where not talking a 360 degree turn around more like a 3 degrees. But its enough to make it to the most exiting place in the world for a tech head like me. Cant wait !

    My plane lands at 11:45 AM, so I should have plenty of time to check into the hotel and meander over to Mama’s Hot Tamales Café by 6:00 PM. Who said coming a day early to E3 was a waste?

    Hi Jeff just a quick question, I recently bought some ps1 Classics and I wanted to know if there is a way to order them alphabetically, cause I’ve put them in a Ps1 Game Folder, I also have an PSN ond Demo one. Just can arrange them to like “recently played” n’ stuff would be nice if you could tell it the firmware update guys cause in my movie folder it works. Thx and sorry for my bad school englisch :)

    Hey Jeff, any chance that you might be able to check with Namco Bandai if they are releasing Tales of Vesperia for PS3 in US??

    Also I’d love to hear Capcom’s discussion about Tatsunoko vs Capcom and upcoming rumored Megaman ((rumored Legends 3?))

    Did Mr. Rubenstein say that he will not be on stage this year? I think he did an amazing job presenting last year. There were a few bumps along the way but I watched it live online and it was very good. The best of the three conferences last year and I expect the same this year.

    Tears to Tiara kicks ass, why that game isn’t coming over here is really beyond my surprise. Ow and wait for serious goodness of FFXIII. Needs improvements but the demo showed me one thing… This is Final Fantasy over the top :-)

    Well, I think I said I’d buy you a drink but last time I checked they didn’t sell booze on the show floor…at least they haven’t had it since the Conker’s Bad Fur Day booth Nintendo hosted way back when.

    Yea Jeff last year was canceled and that’s true that they have yet to confirm a date for this year. I am checking every time though and i’ll let you know if it’s going on this year.

    I’m thinking about flying out there from GA. I have some vacation time and this sounds perfect. My only question is if I am one of the first 100 people will I only be able to attend the Sony conference and then get kicked out of E3? Or will I be able to explore some of the sony booths?

    Do you know anything about a 3D update for games on the PS3 this E3 (I mean the big hint that Sony gives us in Qore Episode 10 with Burnout Big Surf Island)

    Hey Jeff, thanks for your reply, one other thing if it can be answered I work video game retail, is this a problem? Also driving there will be a bit, i dont want to say its a waste of a trip, but if i am not amongst the first 100 people, i have to drive all the way back after the meeting is this right.
