Here we are: The Main Event. Starting at 11am (Pacific, 7pm BST), we’ll be live blogging the PlayStation E3 Press Conference right here in this space. The questions, the predictions, the rumors – all will be answered soon!

To make things quicker (and to prevent you from having to refresh the page), we’ll be using CoverItLive, just like our live chats with developers. However, unlike those chats, we’re turning off the comments pane to keep things focused on the course of events. • FFIV OMG. Does this mean XIII versus is not coming or has it been converted to XIV? Anyway great showing Sony. E3 was looking bleak thanks to Nintendo. You guys saved it and won. I am looking forward to using the motion controller with game such as LB, KZ2,U2etc.

P.S. I thought the Eye camera had a built in motion detector that could read in our entire being.

    PSN:stennex.

  • wow.. my comment got deleted? anyway, if anyone hasn’t done their research yet, MGS:R isn’t exclusive to XBox, and who better than John Schappert – XBox exec and Corporate VP – to even say it:

    skeet skeet!

Great E3 showing Sony! There’s still a few things I personally would like to see come to the PS3:

    – FF7 full fledged remake. The PSN PSone Classic release is nice, but introduce a new generation to FF7, next-gen style! (I know I should be asking SE, but its easier to voice ourselves on the PS blog instead.)
    – New firmware update. Possible Twitter, Myspace, Facebook, etc. integration? If you’re gonna compete with MS, do what they do, but better.
    – PS3/PSP app store. Aside from Music/Video/Games, allow developers and individuals to develop Apps (akin to iPhone, i.e. Alarm Clock, Calculator, Twitter, Weather, Youtube, etc.) to be made available on the Playstation Store
    – What happened to converting/transferring Blu-Ray movies to the PSP?

It sounds like I’m asking a lot, but I’m also thoroughly impressed with your E3 conference!

  • Awesome news! cant wait to see the video

I like how Kojima dosnt look to like the MGS ‘spin-off’ of the game with raiden

  • congrats,it was excelent!!

(well heavy rain and gt5 date would made it godlike)

ps:ms besides forza and halo only had multis you will play on pc so shut up…

  • when are you going to show us the rockstar exclusive game

  • Hey Jeff, I if you get a chance w/ any Square Enix representative can you ask about any Kingdom Hearts 3 info?

KH3 would be a Playstation juggernaut! Exclusivity wouldn’t hurt either :)

    • Jeff Rubenstein

      I\’m in their booth right now… and I don\’t see it :-(

They\’ll talk about it when they\’re ready, it seems.

  • all i have to say is…..WOA!

  • jeff do u really read all of these comments?? i got bored after about 30 of them… 361 is ALOT

  • the press conf was awsome and cant wait for mgs peace walker , re portable and the psp go, i will be getting one to replace my 2000 but will the white psp go be available @ launch?

  • Best parts of the show? Kojima brushing of Rising and calling Peace Walker the “true next Metal Gear.” Also, the motion control demo where the assistant dude mentioned something about needing a trigger or buttons to really make motion controls work. So true! FF 14 was a great surprise too. FF 13 looked terrible tho…the characters and dialogue were just…horrible.

  • why wont the store update!!! i want FF7 so bad!!! good show today sony i have not watched the while show yet since i was at work but read good things can’t wait to watch it all.

  • FFVII this is awesome in itself cant wait to get my hands on that again. Im still tired of ppl saying X-Box Live is better….Time to upgrade the online and its over for crap box 360

  • Super Stardust Portable 2 for the PSPgo! so be good

  • ABSOLUTELY AGREE WITH FFObsessed @ 50

Please remake Final Fantasy VII and I will be super happy.

  • SONY!

GREAT JOB as usual! I love you guys! You guys totally exceeded my expectations for a spectacular E3 conference! The haters can GO TO H#LL for ever doubting you guys!

Please, give Jack Tretton a raise! This [humble, great] man deserves it!

  • A little sad that there’s no release date for GT5, but with GT for the psp to tide me over before GT5 comes out, I’ll survive ;)
Great show by Sony, specially with the motion control, really works for the hardcore gamers based on the live demo.
Kudos to Playstaion Blog for bringing us this live blog!

  • I forgot, I have a question. Is the FF14 subscription based? Meaning, do you have to pay a monthly fee to play online? Thanks.

  • LOL at ppl complaining about “Games we knew about”….

Sony has MANY new DIFFERENT games, that almost NOBODY has played because THEY HAVEN’T BEEN RELEASED YET…even if you know they are making them…

“Games we knew about”???….Those are on Xbox360…Halo and Gears of war…they will continuously release those, because they don’t have anything else to release….

Great Sony, last year was hard, but this one…well, you win…

I still have my 2005 psp…(no RROD on that either) and waited to see a good update to the hardware…this is it..this is the year I buy my new psp…and with GT, thanks!!

  • Lots of good this year from all three companies, however the one thing Sony missed the boat on was the real theme of E3; community involvement. Both Microsoft and Nintendo announced Facebook integration in some form, but I notice it very lacking from the Sony camp.

Granted you can probably access it from the web browser, that’s beside the point. It needs to be a mainstay, not a periphery. Put it on the XMB. Facebook, Twitter, Last.FM, Hulu, Netflix, and a host more services. Sony doesn’t always need to keep it in house. Partnerships benefit everyone in some way, and social networking is very much the face of gaming this gen. It’s the reason why XBL is such a powerhouse in that regard.

Awesome PSN update this week. I’m loving that the store hasn’t gone a week without a PSOne title in quite a while, so keep that up for sure. (I want Einhander…)

  • Please tell me that Sony’s press conference @E3 2009 will be available for download in the PS Store!! It was epic!

  • Sony’s Motion Controller was the most impressive motion control I saw in all 3 conferences. Microsoft’s Natal seems cool, but it is limited by not providing the extra level of detection provided by Sony’s “wand”?.

Nintendo’s MotionPlus seems to come close to what Sony is doing, but it didn’t look like it was as precise.

Maybe it was just the impressive tech demo?

I’m really looking forward to what Sony and Game Developers do with their motion controller.

Of course, Sony had the best line up of games for this year and announcements for next. I’ll be too busy on my PS3 to think of picking up the Xbox 360 controller or paying for the Natal.

Sony certainly wins best press conference of E32009 in my books.

    *WooT* > FF XIV EXCLUSIVE!!

  • Just heard that FFXIV isn’t likely to be exclusive to the PS3 for consoles. Would love to hear how this miscommunication got through.

  • I thought at E3 Scea would announce a new firmware update including a Music Video Service and Probably the most asked for feature for the past two years! that is of course IN-GAME CHAT but No that as far as i know that hasnt happened. The way i see it, we players and Sony fans are being ignored. Please add the feature of In-Game Chat.

  • ive been reading around the web on e3 and it seems alot of people seem to favour the project natal to the ps3 motion controller simply because you can use your whole body.
Well ive come to a comprimise: have eyetoy-like features aswell!
basically say if there are loads of flying ninjas or something comin towards you you can hit them with the sword in your hand, or punch them with your empty one like in the old eyetoy games.
I’m sure sony will come up with a better idea but im just throwing stuff out there.

  • It’s a little late, but I would like to see the scope of the new motion tracking controller be added to general PS3 usage. I want to control the XMB with gestures. I want to launch software like Tom Cruise in Minority Report.

Sony, I love my PS3 and want to see you totally knock it out of the park with this new input mechanism. Let’s see some real next gen style creativity!
