You might not have caught this juicy tidbit among the many announcements at yesterday’s PlayStation E3 Press Conference, but Capcom’s Lost Planet 2 is confirmed to be hitting the PLAYSTATION 3. From what I’ve seen of the game thus far, this is a very good thing. Capcom’s Frank Filice tells us more:
It definitely looks as if Capcom is set to wipe away the bad taste that the first Lost Planet left in some PS3 gamers’ mouths. 4-player co-op and visuals that seem to outstrip the already-impressive Resident Evil 5 are a good start.
I’ve extracted a promise from Mr. Filice to have more on this game as we get closer to its 2010 launch.

I don’t know if you’re going to be doing interviews with the PSP Go people, but if you do, can you ask if we will be able to digitize our currently owned UMD games to put on our PSP Go?
I plan on selling my PSPs when PSP Go is released, so I want to know if my games are going to be useless or not when that happens.
Sad part about this interview is that Frank tells us that Capcom listened to gamer feedback on Lost Planet 1, but the truth is alot of that feedback should have NEVER HAPPENED. There was so much wrong about that game that anyone with half a brain wouldn’t have done what they did.
If anything I don’t think I’d be happy without an apology for what they did to us.
Anyway hopefully capcom will adopt a “No larger than 500 megs” install policy for this game. I don’t mind installs, I love them, as long as they give me a performance edge over the competition and are optional.
I may do all the optional installs on my games, but that is for added benefit. I don’t like toting a game over to a friends place only to have to spend a half hour waiting as opposed to playing the game.
Anyway looking forward to seeing Capcom’s next foray into the co-op … genre? I think it’s time for a distinction here, but definitely will keep an eye this.

So excited this is coming PROPERLY to the PStriple.
I absolutely ADORED LP1 on 360 (when I still had a 360) and was pretty sad about how it turned out on PS3 as I was fully ready to rebuy it.

is completely unacceptable, make the saves tied to the users PSN account. For information on how to do this speak with Insomniac’s Resistance 2 team, they implemented this and the save is unusable anywhere beyond my account. Namco’s Soul Calibur 4 team did this as well.
Locking the save does us no good and puts us in a world of trouble if our systems are serviced. As sony almost NEVER gives us our system back. There’s other reasons behind this request.
Jeff, really appreciate the work you’re putting in, sincerely. You definitely have a strong journalistic streak in you. What I would like to know is there any content for the game that will be exclusive to the PS3.

Looks amazing, Lost planet was one of the first next gen games I played, on the box, and I am really glad it’s coming to the PS3 so I don’t have to go out and purchase that RRod machine again.
You know Jeff, Sony should give you a raise. You do a better job showing the games and events then their marketing team.

Day one purchase on what seems to be a more focused effort on Capcom’s part. Seeing as how SF4 and RE5 are selling better on the PS3 right now, I can understand their need to go ahead and make this a simultaneous console release this time.

I can answer that question: Microsoft Shenanigans. If you watched E3 this year, they had nothing. They fell flat on their faces in an attempt to take a piece out of Nintendo’s casual pie. They tout exclusive content to the high heavens in order to guarantee higher sales on multiplatform titles. It’s quickly becoming their shtick. They just did it recently with With The Ballad of Gay Tony DLC for GTA4. But Sony countered that masterfully with a full exclusive title from Rockstar.
Moneyhats can only take you so far.

Giving microsofts history of RIDICULOUS exclusive (DELETED) ,timed demos, timed dlc, I wouldnt be surprised if microsoft paid for exclusive announcing of Lost planet 2 for 360!

Wow, whats this? Capcom is finally done spitting in the faces of their fans that made them popular all these years? I’m shocked!
Hopefully they can give us a good version that is as good as the lower common denominator console with no installs this time around. But knowing Capcoms bad recent history, somehow I doubt its going to happen.
Here is hoping they get it right this time around. I wont hold my breath though. Capcom has lost most of my respect this generation, and that is why I didn’t buy RE5 Collectors Edition.

I thought at E3 Scea would announce a new firmware update including a Music Video Service and Probably the most asked for feature for the past two years! that is of course IN-GAME CHAT but No that as far as i know that hasnt happened. The way i see it, we players and Sony fans are being ignored. Please add the feature of In-Game Chat.
Finally some good LostPlanet new =D I just recently lost entertainment value from the 1st lost planet and now I have hope to renew my love for the game =D Hope its everything I’m hoping for and more. Thanks for the interview jeff.
