News in Hollywood travels fast!
I am happy to confirm that it is indeed true, Sony Computer Entertainment has signed a deal with Columbia Pictures for a movie adaptation of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and it will be produced by Avi Arad, Charles Roven, Ari Arad and Alex Gartner. We have been working with Avi and the folks and Columbia for quite some time and look forward to sharing additional details on the film in the short future. Obviously we designed the game to be a cinematic experience and we too can’t wait to see it on the big screen.
So, who do you think should play Nathan Drake?

WTF, noobs?!? How can you say anyone is more right for the role than Nolan North. If it’s not all(mostly) the original cast, it’s going to be cheap.
Why must my most beloved games get movies? With the way most games-made-movies have done, critically and with respect to the source material, I’d hate to see my favorites tarnished. I really hope Naughty Dog has a big part in it. A HUGE part. I wish they had all of it and I wouldn’t have to worry at all, but damnit it better not be another Hollywood-does-it-this-way and the gamers are left sick in the stomach.

I was going to say Ryan Reynolds, but after seeing some post about Nathan Fillion I can’t imagine anyone more “perfect” for that role. Grow some stubble, and he looks exactly like Nathan Drake. He’s an action movie star, with a sarcastic, witty attitude, but doesn’t take sh_t from anybody. Perfect. Man I hope they can get him to play the part. He’s about due since Firefly.

The developers have repeatedly stated that he was a partial inspiration for the character. I love Nolan North, but I don’t know how well his fantastic voice acting would transfer to the screen. Either of the two would be a great choice however.
Just keep Shia LaBeef away from it. He needs to stop playing annoying chatterbox characters before I can ever tolerate that though.

Nathon Fillion looks the closest to Nathan Drake. He has similar charisma as well. Or Nolan.

It has to be Nolan North to play drake and Elena has to be played with the same guy to or they need to have someone that looks very simliar to the charachters otherwise i wont like it to much
Nolan North as Nathan Drake obviously. He knows the character better than anyone else, he IS Nathan Drake. I don’t know about anyone else, but I would be pretty mad if I voiced a video game character and worked hard and then someone different got to play them in a movie. I would feel robbed.
They need to just cast the voice actors for the movie. They already act the scenes out for the game anyway, and they have great chemistry on the set, so why not cast them?

Uh hello Nolan North is only 6 months older than Nathan Fillion. So quiet down if you’re saying North is too old.
Nolan North should be given a good chance to at least audition for the role. He created the Drake character. All the nuanced character traits are his.
North has earned the right to get a first shot. And if it doesn’t work out, then fine give other people a chance like Fillion.
These Firefly nerds are annoying. I actually hope Fillion doesn’t get the role so it annoys you people.

As everyone else has suggested, Nathan Fillion would be perfect for the role. I immediately thought of Mal from Firefly when I fired up Uncharted for the first time.

Right, did not see the above Fillion hate, or Nolan North love I should say.
Honestly, Fillion’s character from Firely–Mal–is quite similar to Drake. Fillion looks quite similar to Drake, facially. I don’t think there’s a better match.
Now, I do appreciate Nolan and his work as Drake in the video games, but he just isn’t as movie compatible as Fillion is. That said, Bale? He played Batman in Terminator Salvation, so no thanks. Don’t know about the other suggested actors save for Shia who must’ve been suggested jokingly.
Also, when playing Uncharted, I had intially thought that Fillion actually did the voice work and possibly even the mocap for Drake, not to mention lending his personal take to the character as well. I was quite shocked to find Nolan North as the man behind Drake. And at that point in time I was really only familiar with Fillion’s performance in the movie Serenity and had yet to find myself such a huge fan of him in Firefly, or recently his new show Castle.
Firefly was such a good show.

While Nolan North has an amazing voice, seeing his mocap sessions is awkward, because he doesn’t look the part. I think he’s a great actor, and an even better voice actor, but I swear to god this role has to go to Nathan Fillion.
Fillion fits the bill 100%, and everytime I play Uncharted I imagine him in the role. I never even watched Firefly or Serenity, but his sarcastic wit and delivery in Slither showed me how well he can handle a character like Drake.

Also, whoever suggested Bruce Campbell as Sully is a genius. Sully is a hard character to pull off, and while Bruce isn’t as gruff or old as Sully, his way with words is only fitting.

For Elena, I think Blake Lively should play her. She’s really cute and she’s got spunk, and she looks REALLY close to Elena. I think she’s old enough now to take on a good action role. Did I mention that she’s really cute?

Nathan should def. be played by Nathan Fillion. There’s no friggin question this is the CORRECT choice. He’s the most underrated actor in Hollywood. He has Nathan’s charm, wit, and looks exactly like him!
Christian Bale is the worst possible choice. Failure @ those suggestions.
Umm it can be no one OTHER than Nathan Fillion. He looks exactly like the ingame character. He sounds exactly like the voice actor. He plays video games. He’s not gonna ask for a ton of money like Christian Bale or some other huge actor.

Seriously, stop saying Christian Bale. He’s completely overexposed and has absolutely no credit as a light-hearted pulp action actor. The ideal choice is someone we’ve never heard of who needs to audition for the role.
The answer is obvious, Bruce Campbell. I’d be happy as long as it is NOT CHRISTIAN BALE, he ruined batman and terminator lets try to leave it at just those two.

Those are the only known people who could do Nathan Drake, both have sarcasm down to a art form.
One being the original voice actor and the other in my mind drakes evil twin.
The only two people I can see playing the role is Nathan Fillion or Jeffrey Donovan.
For me, it comes down to three actors(besides Nolan North) that I think could roughly pull off Nathan Drake’s character without sacrificing too much of his look.

Sully could be played by J.K. Simmons. I do kinda like Revolutionary’s(post #41) Bruce Campbell pick for Sully, that would be pretty cool.
Many of the people doing the voice works in the game look very similar to the roles in the game… Especially the guy doing Nathan Drake… -cough- ;D

Firefly showed us Nathan Fillion can play a Nathan Drake style character very very well (and he looks the part too! much more than North) and who didn’t think of Bruce Campbell when watching Sully in the game? he reminds me of Bruce Cambell’s character in Burn Notice…a helpful/annoying sidekick whose always thinking of women…and beer.
