Fallout 3 Downloadable Content on PSN

Hello PlayStation fans. I’m Ashley Cheng, a producer at Bethesda Game Studios, here to give everyone an update on when Fallout 3 DLC will be available via PlayStation Network.

Fallout 3 Anchorage PS3

We’re excited and eager to bring Fallout 3 DLC to PSN. Unfortunately, the content is going to be releasing later than originally expected. Our DLC expands on the original game tremendously — each DLC offering 4-6 hours of additional content — and is no trivial undertaking. Here’s a brief look at the DLC you’ll be able to play.

  • Operation: Anchorage (pictured above) – Enter a military simulation and fight in one of the greatest battles of the Fallout universe – the liberation of Anchorage, Alaska from its Chinese Communist invaders.
  • The Pitt (pictured below) – Journey to the industrial raider town called The Pitt, located in the remains of Pittsburgh and choose sides in the battle between the slaves and the slavers.
  • Broken Steel (pictured below) – Join the ranks of the Brotherhood of Steel and rid the Capital Wasteland of the Enclave remnants once and for all. Continues the adventure past the main quest and raises the game’s level cap to 30.
  • Point Lookout – Explore a massive new swampland area filled with new quests and content.
  • Mothership Zeta – The aliens have returned, and they’re pissed. Experience an alien abduction first hand and find out if you’re tough enough to survive.

Fallout 3 Broken Steel PS3 Fallout 3 - Pitt PS3

What can you expect from our DLC?

  • More Fallout 3 Goodness – More weapons, more creatures, more armor and outfits, more characters to interact with, and more loot. You’ll find all of these within the unique new locations of Broken Steel, Operation: Anchorage, The Pitt, Point Lookout, and Mothership Zeta.
  • DLC Trophies – Did I mention we’re supporting trophies in each DLC? This was a big priority for us and one of the reasons for the extra time needed. In the end, we think it’s worth the effort to bring trophies to the DLC.
  • Support for existing characters and saves – Once you’ve downloaded and installed the DLC, the content is accessible at anytime (once you leave Vault 101). You can play the DLC whenever you want — with one exception (see Broken Steel below).

So when can you expect Fallout 3 DLC? We are knee deep in testing at the moment, and we’re hoping to have the first DLC out by the end of September. That long? Keep in mind that not only do we need to test each DLC on PS3, we also need to test each DLC when used in conjunction with each of the other DLC, as well as all of them together, along with the entire original game.

I do have good news! We have decided that Broken Steel will be the first release since it is easily the most requested DLC from our fans. Broken Steel allows you to continue playing the game after completing the Main Quest, raises the level cap to 30, and includes 4-6 hours of additional gameplay. It is also the one DLC that requires you to finish the Main Quest from the game to play the new content. Regardless of whether you’ve completed the Main Quest, the level cap will already be raised and higher level characters will begin encountering some of the new enemies in the Capital Wasteland. For the release of Broken Steel and the other DLCs, we’ll release a new update for the game.

After Broken Steel, we’ll be releasing Operation: Anchorage and The Pitt shortly thereafter, probably at the same time – just to get them out to you as soon as we can. After that we’ll have Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta available as soon as we can, so that the wait between DLC is as short as possible. Once we release Broken Steel, we’ll have a better idea when the other DLC will be coming and will let you know specifics.

We hope you enjoy Fallout 3’s DLC. Thank you for your patience. They’ll be here before you know it.

  • i completly understand…all im saying they had all the time in the world to prep for a June launch of the DLC for PS3..But they didnt..unless it was in the contract they signed with Crapbox.. Ether way They dropped the ball… and there lossing fans because of it

  • Thanks for taking the time to explain the DLC that have already been out for Xbox 360 for some time now…A simple date as to the release would have been sufficient. Sheesh.

  • i want to know which DLC the GOTY version will get?.

  • Ashley Cheng,

You may not be responding to the harsh criticism, but I sure hope you’re at least taking the time to read it. PS3 owners are not inferior and our opinions should be taken into consideration just as much as 360 owners.

Like everyone else is saying, I feel you’re basically just trying to milk us “inferior” PS3 owners now that your money from the 360 exclusivity deal has been used up.

In the future, maybe you should listen to your fan base instead of a bunch of dollar signs. Looks like all the people boycotting you guys might make the crappy economic future for you guys look even bleaker.

As with bands, films and dvds, isn’t the bulk of your income contingent on your sales? The more fans you piss off, the less sales. It’s not rocket science, Ashley.

That being said, I don’t particularly think you should take all this badly and decide to not use PS3 as a console for your future games. Instead, try to make everything equal and you can avoid what could potentially be a disaster for a company that makes great games.

  • thanks for the update, I just wish us ps3 people had the same rights and the 360/PC people

  • When you download broken steel does it let you continue to play to the game even though you completed it.

  • Jesus bloody christ, why are there no comments on the rants that ARE TRUE???? Do you not care what the majority of people have to say or are you just PLAINLY IGNORING IT. The majority of fallout 3 holders are ACTUALLY on PS3 which is why bethesda withholding DLC from them was such a stupid decision, now most people have moved on to BETTER games that don’t GLITCH every 5 MINUTES for example…. EVERYTHING????????????

Have a think about this one Bethesda and the next huge game you bring out might actually make you more money.

  • Hmm…..So, as just about everyone else has said, we get screwed for a whole year and then we are supposed to pay full price for DLC that’s been on the market all this time? I hope you all at Bethesda are smart enough to make like a discount bundle of it all or something. I’m still debating if I will waste my time, money, and harddrive space on your DLC which I will probably only get five or so hours of play out of anyways.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is coming out at the end of September and they are actually making it worth my while to pick it up at full price. Keep playing console favorites and enjoy watching your company crash and burn.

  • yeh broken steel 1st
it was disapointing that bethesda didnt realese it in june and 1 of my friends hates fallout now because of that but this will cheer him up

  • i heard something that there was a site that gave some ps3 owners the first 3 dlc’s is this true

  • Ashley thank you for finally giving an update I do appreciate it and so does everyone else. I do think some of the comments are a little harsh. But you have to admit we PS3 user got screwed. I was excited when I first heard about the DLC’s then I was pissed because we were not getting them. Then happy to hear we were. Then pissed when it never came out and took so long to get an update. I wont be buying any more of your games until they have been out for awhile. That way if it is handled like this again I wont have been messed over. I sure hope you guys learned something or just decide to have a better customer service aspect in the future. We want to buy your games we just don’t want to be screwed in the process.

  • Finally !! it’s coming out for the ps3 . Any idea on the price ? and good choice on broken steel !

  • Any idea on the price ? i heard 9.99

  • i was on IGN.com and saw the mother ship zeta trailer. It looks bad to the bone i like this one the weapons and the story looks so good….WOW??? I am ready to kill some f*$&ing aliens

  • So, when is it coming out for download?

  • Thank-you Bethesda! I knew you guys wouldn’t dissapoint us PS3 owners! Its sad that Mothership Zeta is the last DLC pack. I was kinda hoping you guys would have a DLC pack where Rockopolis opens up and you can go in.

  • Okay. I understand that since the PS3 has different process needed for developing, this came out later due to that. But since you more or less have a second chance to, will glitches like the Vengeance disappearing when taken in the Pitt & not appearing in the locker @ the end (Not sure if this is confirmed, but it was the most worrying to me)? I guess if you don’t that’s fine, being that we still get a Repairman that can have 100 repair just by popping in & out.

  • And muffins? Rockopolis is real. Its just a small letdown hideout with a bobble-head and a holotape and Argyle’s corpse. Their is nothing more to say

  • on the mother ship zeta DLC the voice on the trailer sound like Todd Howards voice. on a hollow tap. and is the G.O.T.Y for the PS3 will it have the DLC or not like when you did oblivion G.O.T.Y.

  • Cant bloody wait for the dlc to come, got the collectors edition in jan, and was pretty pissed off that M$ was getting the exclusive dlc, but now i will have the incentive to play it again. Thnx Bethesda

  • I just want to know if the DLC will be available in Blu-ray disk for purchase at the stores.

  • Me and my bud have been waiting for the dlc, ive done basically every thing there is to do on fallout 3 and i have 100% of the trophies and now im waiting for the dlc. good choice on broken steel for the firts dlc by the way ive been wantibg my charcters on lvl 30. but im geting anoyed at the constant release date back ups if it doesnt come out soon ill go ahead and sell fallout 3.

  • the GOTY edition is scheduled for October 13th on gamestop.com. if you guy’s are planning on the first DLC to come out at the end of September on the PSN then odds are the GOTY Edition will be out before the 5th DLC comes out. why the DLC if the GOTY edition is coming out before all 5 DLC’s are available?

  • hi um i just wanted to put this on here i sold my fallout 3 not because it was a bad guy it was amazing i sold it because you guys were taking so long just think if you guys wouldnt have sold all the dlc rights to microsoft and made that deal none of this would have happened you guys pretty much just said F U to all the people how have playstation

  • so it is now august and from what i heard fro friends on psn is that the update is coming out and with the update comes the FALLOUT 3 DLC’S is that true or will i have to wait for a longer time period?

  • Crapbox got Zeta today,And us PS3 fans are steel Being screwed over to get any DLCs.
As I’ve said before they’re to bezzy making crapbox’s DLCs to work on the PS3 DLC,If they really cared about their PS3 fans they would have given us Zeta today(after all they did say they supposable cared about us) .I mean we all want the DLCs,but dose it really matter what order we get them in?
All right Ashlee you got done making all five DLCs for Crapbox. Now you can actually get started on caring about us.

One more thing. Here’s a heads up, if a sixth DLC starts getting made,PS3 will have to wait until the end of October to get or first DLC.That’s a logical prediction, Point Look Out and Mothership Zeta being made for crapbox was Bethesda Only conssern.Thats the resin why we have to wait so long because they didn’t start making or DLCs because they were making the last two.

And seriously why coudn’t you have made point look out and zeta for us at the same time as crapbox.

  • Yeah, I agree with JOEMAMMA14…

  • This is stupid i was saving up for all the dlc which was supposed to start coming out in june but now i think i might not bother and might just go buy another game that wont annoy me with thier stupid DELAYS

  • I have fallout3 for the ps3 and with the help of the off game guide i have beaten the game more than once.
When i heard of the xbox and pc DLC i was outraged that it wasnt available for ps3.
When it was announced tht the DLC would hit playstationstore in june i was delighted, however june came and went, and now we are being told september…. it better be worth the wait.
But will i be cheaper waiting for GOTY or buying expansions seperate,
and will the ps3 DLC be bug-ridden like its xbox counterpart?
    please answer me!!

  • I don’t understand all the outrage here, I am ecstatic that there will even be DLC. At this point PS3 is failing with sales and I am shocked its staying in the game at all. On another note, I hope the delay in the release of content has to do with fixing glitches and actually utilizing the PS3 hardware to its fullest. I did compare platform versions and there is no visible difference, it’s a shame to see the all powerful beast PS3 be shorted by a crappy port. So to Bethesda, do what you do best and in the meantime I will play other stuff till the DLC comes out.

  • why was the 360 and pc version ready so much faster then the ps3? i’m getting antsy waiting for this dlc

  • Extra content for one of my fav ever games, cannot wait :)

Hoping there are quite a few trophies for each DLC.

  • questing for Ashley Cheng why dont make a dlc for ps3 before september like it has bugs glitchs just like xbox 360 and pc

  • if we have to wait till september we should get a discount or one of the dlc for free because of the delay. And a question for ashley cheng Will we get a discount off the dlc as we now have to wait another month

  • Being a supporter of generally good games and a fan of the ORIGINAL fallout series I have to say this, fallout has always had crashing problems that is the price of hefting around a large game, secondly if you’re counting the bugs you’re a critic, you are looking for [DELETED] to complain about and clearly not having as much fun as you should be. We can’t do anything about Microsoft’s money, they are a really strong company and have seedy business morals, Sony is just as bad in other aspects but the thing to remember is that instead of keeping their word and NOT releasing a thing for the ps3, they brought us some dlc love, now I want to ask you hypothetically, if they’re willing to recall this exclusive deal, doesn’t that mean that they originally intended for simultaneous release?

  • All right i do have a couple of questions about the DLC upcoming for Fallout3. First question is will there be more bobble head that i can collect for my megaton home? After all those little guys took up most of my time and it was a great incentive for players to literally seach the wasteland. My second question involves the gameplay and patchwork for Fallout 3. During parts in the game, some could out right be annoying, the frame rate would slow down or start to skip. Will Bethesda be able to assist gamers in these issues, im sure i wasnt the only one out there lol. My final question involves the story, so much has happened to our helpless hero from fallout 3. Would it be possible to finally leave the war ravaged United States and travel to places live London or Paris?

  • thats a good idea actually i would love to get to go to another country

  • As long as we have had to wait.. this DLC (at least the first one.. if not all) should be free. At this point, theres no use in releasing the DLC on PSN. Everybody is just going to buy the GOTY edition. I myself have already paid like $85.00 for the “collector’s edition”. I had it pre-reserved. How much more cash you guys planning to drag out of us?

  • Ya….. Rather than just be proud of what you produced and try to make it as available to as many people as possible, you held out on PS3 users for the sake of generating a little extra cash from Microsoft.

Could not care about the DLC anymore.

  • does anyone know the day it will be arriving on the ps store not month, day!!

  • im thinking of just spending my money on the pc version than the ps3 version taking way to long dont feel like waitin for another month rather get map pack 3 for codwaw

  • Ashley. As there has already been a huge delay in the release of the first DLC for us PS3 owners(we were originally promised the end of June), dose this mean that the release date for the game of the year edition will be miles behind the PC and Xbox360 versions aswell??

  • theres no point asking him he hasnt replied for ages

  • Since Operation Anchorage and The Pitt came out before Broken Steel on the XBox 360 and the PC will Bethesda Softworks change the armor resistance and weapon damage for Broken Steel, Operation Anchorage and/or The Pitt for the PS3?

  • AWESOME! i thought it would never come out on ps3. thanks Bethsheda u RULE!!!!

  • after mothership zeta will there be anymore dlc, or do we have to wait for New Vegas to come out

  • so when is the release date???????????????

  • I am kinda pissed off at bethesda.
I own an xbox 360 and i had the chance to buy fallout 3 for it but i didnt cause i like using fallout 3 for the ps3. In there website they have already released MOTHERSHIP ZETA and we ps3 gamers still dont have our first dlc. by the time it comes out i may buy it or ill use my money on the new games that are coming out. Not a smart business strategy if you ask me Bethesda.

  • i went to the playstation store but couldnt find the dlc for fallout….how do you get it

  • RCSbball25 there is no dlc for fallout 3 because it hasnt been released yet!
