Yesterday we announced that UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves will be hitting store shelves on October 13. Don’t forget to pre-order your copy of UNCHARTED 2 at a participating retailer today. Special offers are available at Amazon.com, Best Buy, Game Crazy and GameStop. I know many of you can’t wait until October, so if you’re at Comic-Con this week be sure to stop by the PlayStation booth – we’re booth 5200 in the Exhibit Hall – where we will debuting some brand new, never been touched outside of Naughty Dog, UNCHARTED 2 gameplay for you to experience and it’s hands-on!
In addition, if you are at Comic-Con and interested in meeting Naughty Dog or some of the voice actors in UNCHARTED 2 – including Nolan North, Claudia Black, Emily Rose and Robin Atkin Downes – they will be taking part in a panel this Thursday, July 23, at 5:30 PM in room 6A on the Upper Level of the San Diego Convention Center (maps can be found on the Comic-Con website.) Greg Miller of IGN will moderate the discussion on how the Naughty Dog Engine 2.0 and the innovative motion capture process at Naughty Dog enables them to create the first active cinematic experience in a video game. With this group of personalities, I guarantee it will be a lot of fun and we will be unveiling some new footage that you will not want to miss.
Lastly, for the collectors out there, I am happy to tell you that we have entered a partnership with ESC-Toys to create Nathan Drake vinyl toys. The man behind the design is Esc-Toy’s founder/designer Erick Scarecrow. Erick is well known in the industry for creating some of the most sought after customs, vinyl and plush collectibles out there. He is also well known for the work he has done for recording artists, including the late and great Jam Master Jay of RUN DMC, Bad Boy Entertainment, Def Jam, and others. I have included a few images of the vinyls below.
Let us know what you think! More info to come on release timing but we are aiming for this Fall, they will be limited to 2500 pieces world wide, so start stalking your local vinyl stores!

The box art is decent, but that concept art is old, i was hopeing for something new, using Drakes ingame model like Uncharted 1’s cover.
Still good though.

I would love to buy Uncharted merchandise, but I’m not going to spend money on something sooo stylized to the point that it looks like some artist’s far-out bizarre interpretation of the characters I love, instead of actually looking like the characters I love. Caricatures are cool (see the Round 5 MMA figures,) but the one shown in this post turns me off. Looking forward to the game, good luck at Comicon!
I won one of Your E3 t-shirts online. It is NOW my Most Treasured Possession(more than my PS3 itself), I won it from the Guys at TQcast.com. We played against each other and I got 19 kills on them that round. I am very looking forward to the game and the early Demo. Keep up the most awesome work that you are doing!

Anyway, I don’t mind the boxart (though it can’t compare against Drake’s Fortune) but I’m a little pissed about the lack of a Collector’s Edition, especially for such a huge title like Uncharted 2. What happened, I thought Naughty Dog was considering it back when they announced a survey?

I would LOVE one of those vinyls to put on my truck window…can’t wait to find out when and where we can get them.
As collectible figures go, I hate to say it but the vinyl figs do nothing for me. Instead of a hyper stylized or deformed fig like that, I’d rather see a true to life one. For a series like Uncharted that’s so realistic in most of its aspects (from character modeling to physics to character concepts) it’d be a shame to do anything else.

Probably there won’t be Collector’s Edition because lot of great games are releasing the same season. Maybe Naughty Dog and SCE are worried about sales, that they don’t want to pull off any other edition. Or they might want other companies games to sell well too, not just UNCHARTED 2.
That is my opinion.
So will they announce the delay then?
Super excited about the game. Rather disappointed with the figure. I would have preferred NECA give Drake a shot. Like the RE5 action figures….

can’t wait. Really big fan of you guys and the great games and im glad that there is fianlly a release date. thought i would have to wait till novemeber but october is great. hoping my walmart does the same thing it did with the first uncharted and put it out 5 days before street date. was so happy when i saw the first game on shelves before the street date. i was anticpating it for a while and getting it early was awesome.
