gamescom Cologne starts next week, and of course, we’re getting some quality time with Heavy Rain developer Quantic Dream at the show. So you know what that means — we need your questions!

You’ve no doubt recently seen or read about the game, whether from our E3 virtual booth tour or the PlayStation.Blog.Europe‘s Friday interview with Guillaume de Fondaumiere, Executive Producer and CEO at Quantic Dream.

So once again, we’re opening the door to you! What do you want to know about Heavy Rain? Do your research, then drop your questions in the comments section below.

  • Hi, my questions are:

    1- will we have a tree to see the branches for the choices that we make in the game in order to see other consecuencies?
    2- If there is sex scenes, will be soft or xplicit?
    3- Have the developers deleted scenes for too sexual or too gore (if there is any).

  • Do the characters in the game know each other before they meet?
    For example are they co-workers, oe in a relationship, et cetera.

    What are you aiming for in terms of rating?

    Due to the fact that Norman has futuristic glasses, what year does this game take place?

  • Is it true you will be working with ridley scott on the bladerunner prequel “Purefold”
    and if they would be interested in using the Heavy Rain technology to explore other IP’s for future games like the bladerunner universe.

    How much communication\influence have they had from sony’s edge group (ICE/ATG).

    This game kind of reminds me of an interactive book. Will there be chapters in the game to kinda help you along the way?

    Are you planning on doing a movie as Quantic Dream is part of a movie studio?

  • In regards to the bathroom scene with the girl. I noticed that there didn’t seem to be the option to stop fixing her up at any time. This seems odd in a game that stresses choice. I figured in a situation like this, the different ways you dress yourself up would effect the outcome of the game slightly.

    So I’m wondering if I just missed something or maybe it wasn’t there but will be in the final game? And are all these scenes done the same way(ie. All or nothing.ie. All or nothing)?

  • This is an odd one, but one I’d LOVE to have answered!

    Are there any sex scenes and if so, is it possible for me to skip that part of the story (even if resulting in death) or curve the story to avoid the scene?

  • The questions EVERYONE should be asking on ANY PS3 game is:
    -Ingame music (ok not for Heavy Rain)
    -Ingame SCREENSHOT (only very few games have it, do dev’s even know it exists?)
    -Home Support
    -Game launching (for multiplayer games)
    -Frame rate? Resolution?
    -Will there be a mandatory install?

    3. Will this be easy for my (verry) non-gamer GF to play? – i.e. mostly QTE.

  • Heavy Rain doesn’t seem to go easy on button pressing action sequences popularized in God of War. These have been seen in the development community as a way to unify cinematic cut scenes and gameplay.

    The main flaw however, is that the player isn’t fully paying attention to the cut scene for the developer to properly invoke intended feelings upon them.

    How is a player supposed to enjoy a great story if they aren’t paying attention to it? Obviously you’ve seen this flaw but what did you do to fix it?

    These unified cut scenes/ gameplay sequences also require minimal amount of feedback from the player.

    Are there moments where the player can actually directly control the character on screen or is all gameplay done through these “context clues”? (I think that’s what they are called)

    1) How much gameplay can we expect out of this title?

    2) Is there a New Game+ Option?

    Compared to indigo prophecy which had a mood system and a “life” system which served as your consequences lose your lives you die, too low of a mood you go crazy, in heavy rain will there be any other means of a consequences such as the mood system as or something similar?

  • In indigo prophecy the way quicktime event were executed was to move the analog sticks in the prompted direction.in heavy rain is it only going to be face buttons i.e. Triangle.square, etc. If you guys have taken out the analog stick quicktimes for what reason made you decide this.

    1)How far are you in the production of the game?
    2)People have been claming that the graphics have been downgraded at least on the character models part(madisson looks wodden during the make-up part).Will they improve and reach the standards of the taxidermist demo?
    3)Can we expect DLC with new charactes and new stories?
    4)Can we expect future projects from them?Do these depend on HR’s success?

    Question to quantic
    1)Is there a way to contact Quantic( forum,mail etc)so we could give thoughts,opinions on the game and where they could hear what the community is saying on the game?

  • do u get to control your character or is it like watching a movie with a controller in your hand pushing button sequences cuz that would suck if you dont contol your character. that wouldnt be inovative that would be boring

  • 1: will Heavy Rain be a very detailed game meaning will the small things in the game be detailed to?

    2: can the decisions i make in the game affect the out come of the of the story line?

  • Hi, I’m really looking forward to his title and also have 2 questions.

    1) How limiting is motion capture in your vision of creating this game ? How constraining is it to have to capture most actions/movements by real people ?
    Would your ultimate vision include ‘synthetic humans’ which you can make behave and move in any way you see fit (within the boundaries of the script) ?

    2)will it be possible to view your story as you played it after you have completed the game ? As HR looks so cinematic, having a complete movie/series at the end of it sounds like a great reward
    It could also be something to show of to others, who might not have the patience to sit through the complete game with the player, but can still enjoy it like that.

  • Will there be exploration elements where you have to work out what to do through intuition? In a similar vain to games like Broken Sword.

  • If early critics begin to act unfavorably towards the new style, what type of contingency plans are available?

  • does the game is just to much for the cell processor? because in some gameplays that i saw the game looks like slow-mo is just a video or ps3 got to its limits?

    1. will the game be autosaving or manual? or can we change it to our preference at the options menu
    2. Can we at anytime, pause the game and play a previous part over, as if a movie with playback.
    3. Can we choose the order sequence of characters to play?
    4. Can we play as the origami killer? Can this be considered for dlc?

  • I really enjoyed Omikron: The Nomad Soul back several years now. What lessons did Quantic Dream learn from that game, and what similarities, if any, will we see in Heavy Rain?

  • Why did the club scene look like it had been designed by someone who had never set foot in a club? It was the blandest, most sterile depiction of a club I’ve seen. It should have had cool pumping techno, been hazy, with shimmering lights, disorientating. Make it so.

  • I love that this is a story driven game. We need more games like that.

    You’ve said that if a character in Heavy Rain dies you will control another character and so the story will never really end. It will continue depending on how you play.

    In that regard, what happens when all four (or however many there are) characters die? Will the game just end or will you continue onward some other way?

  • Can you confince me to start liking this game. Because I’m not confinced yet.

    – How many different endings will there be?

    – Is there any karmic decisions?

    – Will there be any puzzles of any kind?

    – Will there be a collector’s edition or anything similar?

    – Any information on the other two characters besides Norman and Madison?

    – What is the transition between playing each character like?

    – Is it possible to have all the characters die when the first possibility of them dying comes? How would that impact the story?

    – Any plans of a demo being released on the PS Store?

    – Can we choose the order you play the characters in?

    – Any plans on DLC?

    – When you beat the game, can you play the game in a different way? For example, play as the Origami Killer, a challenge mode, or altered version of the story?

    – How will the trophies be like?
