Kyle Moffatt's Avatar Posted by Senior Public Relations Specialist, Sony Computer Entertainment Canada

Hi Everyone! Huge news for Canadian gamers attending Fan Expo this weekend at the Metro Toronto Convention Center:

Fan Expo Canada2

PlayStation Canada is attending the show in a massive way this year offering attendees the chance to get some hands-on time with a few major first party blockbuster titles. PLAYABLE the first time in Canada will be on the PSP Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier and for PlayStation 3, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Buzz Quiz World, Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time and God of War III. Be sure to stop by our booth this weekend so you can play these top titles well in advance of their release. Also if you are planning to attend the show on Saturday, be sure to check out the panel discussion featuring the host of Electric Playground Victor Lucas and SCEC’s own Matt Levitan at 4 PM.

We’ll be giving away plenty of prizes and tons of swag throughout the weekend so be sure to come see us when you are at the show. This will be your only chance to play Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time, Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier and God of War III before release so don’t miss out!

For those not familiar of this show (now in its 15th year), Fan Expo brings together all that’s new and great in the five genres: Comics, Anime, Science Fiction, Horror and Gaming. See you there.

EA is responsible for Sony not having x game chat and in game music for all games. I will no longer purchase EA games, and will advise all PS3 owners to do likewise. Spread the word let everyone know, this will not be accepted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

August 26th, 3:34 pm

Video Store for us Candians, thats what I’d like to hear there if I was able to go but alas it’s a $1200 return flight from All the way East to all the way Center in CANADA! Did I mention I’d love to hear of a psn video store for Canada? Hmmmm… plus fix socom (again)

Down with EA! If they won’t let us have cross game chat/in-game music then I refuse to buy any of their games! And I don’t want any gimped voice chat either!!!

Will you be using this occassion to finally unveil the Canadian Video Store? It’s not that hard to find canadian content, Stargate Universe, Smallville, Eureka, X files used to be here lol…The list goes on and on. If it has to be straight up owned and operated, just buy some of the shows from the First Nations channel. The have some great shows…

Corner Gas is great for anyone not familiar.

Guess this is more of a rant, but I hope this announcement is coming soon.

sounds sweet too bad its closer to Mexico than it is to Ontario from Alberta, even though you cross over a country in between. Still very excited us great white northerners are getting some much needed support

August 26th, 4:24 pm

Awesome. Will be there on Sunday for sure. Maybe I will try to make it there for Saturday too and twitter live from it.

Any chance you guys are bringing the PSP version of LBP or even the new PSP Go?

We don’t have evidence of that yet, Super_Secret only specified that it wasn’t Activision.

Given the information it could be anyone of the companies that was black listed for In Game XMB in their earlier titles that predated 2.40. We find those games we’ll be able to easily narrow down who will pay in blood for pulling this nonsense.

KazeEternal said:

August 26th, 4:59 pm

Just to clarify when I say blood I mean money… just in case some executive dies at a 3rd party.

Playable GoW 3?? That’s awesome! This sounds like it’s going to be a great show.

Ok Scratch that I just saw the new post it has to be EA, no doubt about it. Looks like I’ll be scratching EA games off my list of developer/publishers to buy games from.

if what super secret guy said its true then its time to punish EA for not allowing the ps3 to have the feautures that most fans wants.i dont think i will be buying any of their sports games anytime soon!

Im there.

Its just to bad they dont do a PSblog meet up the way they do in the US.

(unless the fans make their own meet up)

(first rounds on me)

Reading this, it doesn’t sound all that special. The games listed could be played on the Playstation.ca semi, and I don’t think there will be any announcements there that will make it worthwhile. Rather disappointing blog entry, to be honest…

These titles won\’t be on the big rig until after their release Futbolfan.

August 26th, 6:25 pm

Kyle…why do we only hear from you once a year?…10% of the US/Canada fanbase is from Canada, MANY of the games we play are developed in Canada, MANY of the fans on here are EXTREMELY frustrated by the lack on news about Video Store/Comic Store, Canada hasn’t had any give aways on PSN like RDKF did with Sprint..etc etc.

Canadians pay near the same amount for the PSP/PS2/PS3 as their American friends and more for retail boxed games and account for 10%+ of NA sales. We are spending the same money and getting an inferior product.

Perhaps a little attention to the Canadian fanbase over and above one post a year would be appropriate.

Dammit. This really should have been posted last week. I would gladly drive 3 and a half hours to come play Uncharted 2. Sadly, plans have already been made for this weekend.

I have one honest question.

How come other countries and continents ( Japan, Europe, and now Canada)

has these kick ass expos that ARE OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC which allows you to play all these hot and yet unreleased games…

and THE USA doesn’t????????!!!!!!!?? Screw E3 with how awesome it is… no FANS can go at their will!!!!!!!

whoever agrees with me, please bump this comment so we will get a reply.

Hey Kyle,

When are you finally going to “do more” in terms of contests like you promised two months ago?

Playstation.ca is still a joke and has no reason to exist. In the last two months its only been updated with 5 videos and that’s it.

The videos aren’t anything worthwhile either. They’re basically just that George Stroumboulopoulos Wannabe Chris asking developers softball questions pre-approved by the games PR team.

@ 79 dagundam:

Are you friggin’ serious??!!

WOW dude…the USA is the one nation that is ALWAYS in receipt of the bonuses…for once other Countries are being included in the fun and along comes YOU to try and make it seem unfair.

What’s unfair is that you think you have the right to complain…you (USA) have much more than any other, so I suggest you think about that first prior to acting like you are so hard done by.

krae_man said:

When I first saw the title I though Canada’s Premiers were showing up at Fan Expo. Premiers in Canada are the equivalent of state Governors in the USA.

Personally, I’d love to pwn McGuinty.

Considering how Canada houses some big developers and we have a large amount of gamers, it would be nice to have a larger scale Conference as well to make announcements that relate to Canadian gamers and the Canadian development industry. The US has E3, Europe has GamesCom. Don’t get me wrong, FanExpo is cool, but some acknowledgement of the roles Canadian developers and gamers play in the entertainment industry would be nice from the companies.

PS. Specifically, it would be great to have a conference telling us a firm date on when the video store is coming to Canada, that the Mass Effect series is coming to Playstation, and that game companies are going to revert back to the game pricing parity between US and Canada. It is a little unfair that other entertainment formats such as CD’s, DVDs and Blurays are nearly the same in both countries, but games average $20 more.

There are many people who love playstation here

August 28th, 9:54 pm

@ThousandShade: I agree too.

Fan Expo is great. But it’s more Comic and Sci-Fi than Gaming. Canada needs a real, sophisticated TECH & GAMING SHOW. And between Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, Ubisoft and EA, they can all make it happen. It’s just no one wants to step forward and organize it.

Because Canada is 1/10th of the population of the States and isn’t as big of a market to be worthwhile to all of them. Which sucks for us.

HORRIBLY organized, but once you get in it’s great. Mainly a scifi and comic book show, but seeing the God of War 3 demo was great.

PS3 had three unreleased games to show off, whereas Xbox360 and Wii were showing off games I already own.
