PSP Firmware Update (v6.10)

230 0

Hi Everyone,

PSP update (v6.10) will be available soon. This is a big update for us in preparation for the launch of PSPgo. New PSPgo owners should make sure to download the update to ensure full compatibility with MediaGo and with all PSP titles. Here are some of the key features we’ll be introducing:

SensMe

SensMe channels is a new music application for PSP that uses Sony’s proprietary 12 Tone Analysis technology to evaluate music tracks that have been imported from Media Go application on your PC to your PSP. The application automatically categorizes the tracks into 12 channels such as “Relax” or “Newly Added”. Check out the walk-thru demo to see how it works.

Media Go Enhancements

Media Go

In addition, PlayStation Store for the PSP and PSPgo via Media Go (v1.2) will be updated with a new look on Thursday, October 1. To access PlayStation Store, you need to download Media Go (or update Media Go if you already have it). Media Go is a free PC software application that allows you to easily organize and transfer music, photos and videos between your PC and PSP. It also allows you to access PlayStation Store and to purchase, backup and restore PSP games. Of course, you can always access PlayStation Store directly on the PSP and PSPgo by connecting to a wireless hot spot and simply logging in with your PlayStation Network ID. But for those of you who prefer to use a PC, you will see that downloading games, movies and TV shows for your PSP is easier than ever with the new PlayStation Store on Media Go. With this update, you’ll be able to export playlists onto the PSP. Go to us.playstation.com/psn/mediago to download Media Go and for more details.

Tethering (PSPgo only)

Another new feature is the ability to use a Bluetooth mobile device, such as a mobile phone, as a modem to connect your PSP system to the internet. This means that when you’re not located close to a wifi spot you have another way to get on the internet via a bluetooth mobile device.

  • why isn’t this on the ps3 too?

  • Will there ever be folders to organize our games like the PS3 has. I’m talking about how you can sort folders by “album”. I want to keep my demos separate from my full downloaded games.

  • Please elaborate on the tethering feature. Will you connect to the internet through your phone (and have to pay for using internet on your phone) or does your phone just become a wifi hotspot? Maybe tethering is common in other devices, but this is the first I’ve heard so I’m a little confused.

  • How is it possible that there have been 4x as many firmware updates in the last month or two as games that I’ve played on PSP?

And while everyone is asking for ports of MediaGo to platforms no one cares about can I get a native Linux version? Preferably for Slackware as that’s the only operating system I actually like running.

  • Please make MediaGo for Macintosh!

  • for those who have MAC’s you can download Virtual Box and install Windows in it and make a share folder from your MAC to the New Windows that you installed. That’s very easy to do

I think that i’m downloading this update. Do Gran Turismo have this OFW included???

  • Isn’t that “Mood” thing similar to Life on Playstation?

  • tethering wow the noobs just dont know how much better the go is… i went at the last minute today and reserved a go (after canceling the reserve lol)i really hope u guys have beaterator on the the store tomorrow im a producer and have been dying to get my handz on it! i really hope dissidia will be up on the store tomorrow 2 as i am trading it in…

  • @51 PS3 have Life with PlayStation and it does all Sense Me things but, you’ need to stay on Life with Playstation

  • please please please please! make a mac version of media go

  • will i be able to use tethering with my iphone???

  • @56 we shouldn’t have to buy a copy of windows just to install this. it would be nice if there was a native version for the mac.

  • @56 — That does work, although it’s a pain, and it takes up a lot of disk space. For Mac/Linux, instead of VirtualBox, you should use Wine. See http://www.winehq.org

  • I don’t buy the PSP Go because i think that is OVERPRICED and I already bough Dissidia: Final Fantasy. If the game comes to the PSN Store and I could get the Game Digital For Free (giving my UMD copy) I would Trade in my PSP-3000 that my girlfriend gave me on our anniversary for the PSP Go

  • Another thing the PSP as an MP3 Player really needs to have full custom soundtrack support. So many times I have seen kids playing a game on their PSP while they listen to music on their MP3 player. Technically they shouldn’t need this as the PSP can play their music as well but not at the same time.

  • @62 you dont need to buy if you have a license and every PC have a License on it. So if you have and old PC you should have a Licence

  • I love all these surprises that Sony came up with today!

What else are we going to see? PS3 firmware that actually drops the outdated XMB menu and uses the awesome SenseMe UI as the new XMB?

Ok enough teasing myself for today. :(

  • Mac version please.

At least tell us if there is even a snowball’s chance at a mac client of MediaGo.

    Thx

  • Thanks for the heads up

  • Can you play PSP games online with Tethering?

  • Love updates. It looks a little too click here then there and it will play from here for me. Which is one of the main reasons I left the PC world.

  • It always sounds like were never pleased… Im a PC im a MAC… our world is so diverse sounds like we will never please everyone.

    so the questions all remain…

Will there be a MAC version of MediaGo manager.

And Will the Bluetooth Tethering for PSPGo work with iPhones that have Tethering and PC’s and MAC’s that have Bluetooth Built in??

  • Lots of people want’s Mac version of Media Go, please make it!

  • I need help downloading games off the PSP Store after I did the last update. How can I fix the issue?

  • looking forward to tethering and sensme…

…need a mac version of media go tho

  • We Really really need a OSx version of Media Go …it should have been there from the start….

  • Will we be able to organize our software into categories more useful then expiration?

  • Sony, Would you and Apple f&*king play nice and release a Mac version of this. A PSPgo and an iPhone would be like money on top the icing on top of the frosting. Oh and by the way in other news, how about letting iTunes get attached or read by the PS3 while you’re at it so I can actually use those stupid capabilities instead of them just taunting me.

  • Sensme should be on the PS3

  • Can Sensme be added to the PS3? Sounds kinda neat. :)

  • Does the PSP go Media software works with Macs?

  • *Runs out to find a PSP Go*
I forgot it comes out thursday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Nice update

  • will the tethering work with any cell phone ? Will it work with the iphone ?

  • I notice that on my psp 2000 the load times of my music and video are very very slow. it takes alot of time to display the track information and album artwork. because psp go uses flash memory, will load times be faster for my music? Now i have to boot up an application to listen to my music? I appreciate the fact that now i can actually see my album artwork. Keep up the good work Sony.

  • great! now fix the web browser. im not the type of pereson that starts flamebait and all, but when you see the DS’s Opera Web Browser, one has to wonder why the PSP still has this epic fail of a proprietary Web Browser.

and please bring youtube to PSP…Seriously guys…

  • yes,

A Mac version would be most appreciated and by the looks of it a LOT of people want this!

Are you reading this stuff SONY?

  • About the phone tethering feature, would that alow me to use 3G on my PSP Go through bluetooth. If so, that is an AMAZINGLY good idea.

  • Like a lot of people on here, I would like a Mac version or at the least make a Media Go version that we can install on the PS3

  • Why don’t you guys have something like that for the PS3?

The playlists looking boring in comparison to this!

    Do it Eric! Do it!

  • This is HUGE! That tethering announcement is epic!

  • Glad I’m a PC. lol Update sounds nice, i’m excited about the mood settings on the music and the B.T. Modem feat.

  • SOOOOOOOOOOO

That’s great and all, but when can we expect to see a PSP 4000 with Bluetooth capabilities just like the GO with the ability to sync wiht the Dual Shock 3, Pause Game Feature like the Go, and built in upscalar for 720p on HDTV’s. Ok I can let the last one go, but the other features I’ll take. You can keep your PSP Go.

  • Seriously! WHAT THE HELL…. Eric I’ve been asking for tethering on the PS3 for a long time and if the PS3 could connect via adhoc I would already be able to but since we won’t get anything like better music player and graphics with no extra video codec support then you fail for trying to extend updates and push a 10yr lifespan for the consel.

Stop spending useless time on Qore when its been useless since launch with the exception of a few early access demos and content and that’s what qore needs not behind the scene looks which we will get online anyway just not by Sony.

  • Come on guys, if you have a Mac, you already now that you can install Windows on it and enjoy both worlds. Mac is a PC hardware with Mac OS on top. That’s all.

  • no MAC support of Media GO?? make it happen please , im picking up my psp go in the morning , what time the store will be updated tomorrow??? same time as always???

  • Looks good indeed :D

  • How about yall share the love and let the PS3 get some actual new GOOD features not 20 more ways to get to the PS store

  • does ne one else really want this for the ps3? I do!

  • Thank god I never switched to a mac. Anyways thanks for the awsome news.

  • Can we create custom folders right on the psp yet?
