Amazon.com Now Offers Digital Codes for PlayStation Network Games and Game Content

Eric Lempel's Avatar Posted by SVP, Marketing & PlayStation Network

Today we announced that we are bringing PlayStation Network games and add-on game content for PS3 and PSP to the new Amazon.com video game store: www.amazon.com/playstationnetwork.

PSN Amazon Storefront

Now you have more options for where you purchase your PSN content whether it’s for yourself or a gift. At launch there will be 200 PlayStation games and game related content available, including titles such as Flower, PAIN, Pixel Junk Eden, Fat Princess, Super Stardust HD and classics such as Twisted Metal: Head-On, Loco Roco, SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo and WipEout Pure. Many more PlayStation Network game titles will become available on Amazon.com as well as the PlayStation Store over the coming months.

Digital access works on a code redemption system. If you purchase PlayStation Network content through Amazon.com, you will receive a code immediately after purchase or you can choose to email the code to yourself or send directly as a gift. Perfect timing for the Holidays! The code will reside in your Games & Software Library so you can retrieve it at anytime. Check it out and let us know what you think.

Good job catching up to MS on this.

Now how about messages through PS.com to PSN users? X-box.com has has this since 2003, why hasn’t PS.com since 2007?

Oh and:

Subs for PSN movies, Subs for MM tutorials for LBP, subs for your streams.

And trophy API out in the wild. Giant Bomb has gotten their trophy thing working, but it’s wonky and an official Sony API for that information (online status/trophy information) that matches XBL’s “gamercard” id tags would be awesome.

This is a good development. It’s always good to have more options available.

One of the obvious benefits is the ability to purchase a specific downloadable game as a gift for someone else. This is something that currently isn’t possible if you attempt a transaction directly through the PlayStation Store.

Whats is so different about using the PSN store?

Lemmings is not in the trophy section of the store. I thunk they added them in.

Good for exposure but I can’t see myself using this unless special offers are made like buy two get one or 10-20% off sales.

Do downloads qualify for free shipping? XD

October 7th, 9:58 am

This could be pretty interesting. It’s main applications seems to be ease of shopping and gift giving, but a voice in the back of my head keeps reminding me that amazon loves to have discounts and sales…

I’ll keep my eyes on this one.

If amazon is allowed to run sales on their own this is awesome if not I don’t see the point other then brand exposure

They don’t let you use your gift card balance to buy the codes. Another great idea that Sony and amazon screwed up!

Best idea ever…. would like to see content from third party developers such as the Fallout3 DLC but it’s a GREAT start…. too bad you didn’t come up with this two years ago!

This is also good for Amazon credit card users. I get a $25 gift certificate every 2 or 3 months. (Though that might be optional now.)

Where is Dissidia on PSN?

Grognard66 said:

For those wondering about what the benefit of using Amazon could be – Amazon will sometimes independently discount XBLA games that Microsoft does not have on sale itself. I imagine Amazon will do the same thing with PSN download games, which means if you keep tabs on the site you might save some money.

I’d like to be able to purchase directly from PC…ie…I can buy and que content and demos from PC and when I get home and turn on the PS3 it will automagically start downloading my purchases/picks.

I know I can do this with my PSP via WiFi but I’m rarely in a place with my PSP that HAS WiFi except my own home.

Thanks Amazon! They posted a live code for Rag Doll Kung Fu so I gave it to my brother :D

Well, it’s a nice idea in theory, but A LOT of older psn titles needs a SERIOUS PRICE DROP. Most titles are the same price as they were 2-3 years ago for pete’s sake…

Also, this calls for some really good amazon promos, gold box deals and discounts!!

Im from Brazil and I would like to know if I’ll be able to buy from amazon using an international credit card.

From PS Store Im not able to buy nothing using an international credit card. Sony says it’s invalid.

Thank you.
