Still wondering when you’ll be able to get your hands on the God of War Collection? Well, wait no more. The God of War Collection has gone gold! Fans can look forward to playing God of War and God of War II in stunning HD just a couple of weeks from now as the God of War Collection will officially be shipping to a retail store near you on NOVEMBER 17! Oh wait…there’s more…we’re also here to unveil all of the trophy goodies you have been waiting for!
To give you the low-down on how the trophies were picked, here is some insight from God of War III Design Director, Todd Papy…
Other than all the visual improvements that we added to the God of War Collection, the most exciting part for me was the opportunity to go back and add in full trophy support for both games. Not only will the trophies hopefully be an enjoyable way to check your progress through the game, but they will also give the hard-core God of War fans some serious additional bragging rights. And on a more personal level, the trophies were a really great opportunity for us to share some of our stories and inside jokes from God of War and God of War II.
One of the trophies that I was really happy to finally be able get out there was “Speed of Jason McDonald.” At the end of making God of War, the combat designers were doing speed runs of the game, and soon enough, friendly wagers started springing up around the office to see who could post the best time. Jason McDonald, currently a Sr. Combat Designer on God of War III, blew them all away. He still has, a couple God of War games later, the two dollars in winnings tapped proudly to his computer monitor.
Something very similar happened when we started testing the God of War II trophy “15 Min Fight Scene.” The fight outside the Loom Chamber is one of the more polarizing moments in the game. A lot of people really enjoyed the long marathon battle, while other’s thought it was maybe too tough of a challenge. This fun vs. frustration became even clearer when the office stopped working on God of War III one afternoon to get together and watch as team member after team member tried to get through the fight in record time. Judging by the cheering that occurred when the aforementioned Jason McDonald was knocked out of the lead spot, I would say fun won the day.
Another challenging spot that we wanted to highlight with the “You Got the Touch!” trophy was the Spiked Column in Hades from God of War. After playtesting repeatedly, David Jaffe asked me to tone down the difficulty and make it easier for the final shipped game. Ironically, even after all that, it wound up being one of the most talked about sections, and not always for the best reasons. I think one of the problems is that a lot of people try to blast their way through and get it over with as fast as possible. That’s a sure fire way to get Kratos sliced up. The trick was always taking your time to think about what your next move was going to be. Throw in a couple deep breaths, and I think a lot of people will be able to make it through without taking damage and earn the trophy.
In the end, all of us hope that you have as much fun earning the trophies as we did designing them.

Finally, a blu ray disc with more than one thing on it! I hate seeing like, ONE movie or one game on a single disc – trilogies, TV series and so on should be coming on one disc – make use of all that damn capacity!
As for Trophies for old PS2 games… it’s strange that devs can actually do this yet DMC4 still goes trophyless. Stop caring about money! -.- So will trophy support be added to the original PS2 God Of War games even if we don’t buy this? Because my PS3 is B/C. Hmm, I highly doubt any dev team would be THAT money-thoughtless.
Awesome cant wait !!
Looks solid. Why all the movies references tho? 80s movies at that….
Glad its coming out next month as its my birthday on November 9th so I’ll have to wait another week for this. Glad I preordered on Amazon so I’ll get it on Wednesday. The trophy list looks pretty easy save for the challenge rooms in GOW2.
Amazing!!!!!!!! getting the collection for sure
@#77 thank you i’m glad to see i’m not alone on that
YES YES YES!!!!!!! God i love you guys, not only was this the best idea ever, but you guys arent really holding anything back and really fleshing out the experience so that even people like myself who have played through both games mutliple times a reason to pick it up and play through again. You guys should do this with a number of series leading up to a big release, great way to introduce newcomers to existing franchises and give gamers familiarized with them a reason to become reacquainted (hint: sotc, ico, onimusha, r&c, jak&daxter etc.). I am definitely buying this day one
I have to say that what might be fun to do in an office full of people might be a pain in the butt when your alone and getting frustrated.
I hope you guys didn’t add too many timed trophies, or made them so that it will be quite difficult to unlock.
OMG! OMG! OMG!
Which shall I get?!?!?!!
1. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
2. Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack In Time
3. God of War Collection
4. EyePet (Bundle Including PlayStation Eye and Magic Card)
PLZZZ TELL ME!!!
Cool Trophy collection. It’s nice to see they didn’t go the easy way and just make trophies from the challenges in each game.
Those are a lot of trophies
AWESOME
This is the most badass collection ever made. Importing this for sure.
is it only in english or can we expect other language like french
@49 Easy trophies?! You’re kidding! Sure, some of them are for playing the story, but seriously…5 hour speed run? climbing spiked towers with no damage?
I’m actually a little worried about the spiked towers one. If I get damaged and fall, I’ve lost the chance for the trophy. But to try again, do I have to jump all the way to the bottom tower, or would I have to restore an earlier save?
that my SONY .. Qu ! are there well be a Code for GOW III demo or dwonloading ?
Awesome, now if only we could do something about that boxart… it’s fugly D:!
I’m so excited about this collection!!
But I’ve got a question: I’m from Germany and I’m thinking about ordering the game in the US because the EU release is in early 2010. So my question is if the game will contain any (especially German) localization?
TIA
Definitely picking this up!
Look Sony, remaster ICO/SotC and they will buy it!
Hell, I’ll buy two!
Great. I will buy this game for sure.
I wish I can work someday as a game developer.
Seeing the community wanting the games must be great.
Sharing in the excitement of the gaming community is definitely one of the best parts of working as a game developer.
