BUZZ! Quiz World Launches Next Week on PS3!

Hi, all!

We’re just a week out from the launch of BUZZ! Quiz World PS3 on November 10, so we wanted to take a moment to give you a little information about the latest BUZZ! installment on PS3 and get you excited for its release.

If you’re familiar with the BUZZ! franchise, you’ve already been introduced to the trivia host-with-the-most, Buzz.

BUZZ! Quiz World set

Well, now he returns to an all-new hi-def game-show studio surrounded by contestants old and new! And this time, you can personalize your character by selecting from hundreds of preset names and hear Buzz call you out by your own moniker.

The level of customization goes even further with the new option to build your own game by selecting your favorite round types and quizzes. And with more than 5,000 new questions and the addition of several new round types—including “Over the Edge,” which involves a pit of goo awaiting those who answer questions incorrectly—your BUZZ! games have just gotten that much more fun!

BUZZ! Quiz World also reintroduces MyBUZZ user-generated quizzes meaning your question bank is still virtually limitless. And the online multiplayer “Sofa vs. Sofa” mode has been expanded to eight players.

But, the fun doesn’t need to end there. BUZZ! Quiz World will be supported after launch with downloadable quiz packs from PlayStation Network. Quiz packs previously purchased for BUZZ! Quiz TV will also work with BUZZ! Quiz World. We’ll also be launching a BUZZ! Quiz World title for PSP very soon, but we’ll have more information on that at a later date.

We can’t wait for you to get your hands on BUZZ! Quiz World and let us know what you think. We think you’ll have a blast, but don’t take our word for it! Check out some previews that have been coming in from a few of our media friends.

  • Looking good Sony

  • This looks like a good step up from the first one.

  • What’s the pricing like with the buzzers, and without the buzzers?

  • This looks pretty cool. I love the Buzz demo for PSP, and my GF loved it too. Maybe I will buy this one for her as my and her first Buzz game.

  • Looks cool.

  • Looks great. More Buzz! is always a good thing. A great series that is usually overlooked.

  • very glad to see theres gonna be 4 vrs 4 on sofa mode , i have a question lets say i want to play with my friends can 2 or 3 people on the same ps3 play online but no sofa mode just online against other players

  • Another great Buzz game :D

  • i’ve never played the buzz games, but they have always intrigued me. i may pic it up if its a decent price

  • A couple of questions? Will the game allow up to 8 players on one ps3 with 8 buzz controllers? Also, in sofa vs sofa mode, can more than one person play online on a single ps3?

  • So many missed opportunities with this release. The BUZZ franchise needs to innovate. Not just add a layer of gloss to the same ol’ product.

For one, this game needs voice chat for online play (or even better: video chat). It would make sofa vs sofa actually FUN to play rather than just a boring waste of time.

And it desperately needs some new round types (that aren’t just the same multiple choice style rounds with different ways to be eliminated).

The developers should take a look at the “Shout About” DVD series…where players race to guess the name of movies, songs, tv shows, etc…while watching movie clips, or seeing montages slowly pieced together, or seeing clues revealed one at a time.

There are so many ways to make this game better…but they just keep releasing the same stale formula.

  • Wish there was a downloadable version for those of us who don’t want to keep switching discs. We LOVE Buzz! Quiz TV, and I’ll probably get this one too. Just sayin.

  • @Jenny Barbour

So Question, when is buzz going to incorporate voice and facial recognition from the PS Eye. You have the game calling people by name, it would be really cool if the game could detect people and their voices for this sort of game.

  • Ruthless Ed,

    The game has voice chat.
I disagree, the original game was great it just lacked some polishing up.

  • I have a question for the developers:
I think it would be cool if we can use our Playstation Home Avatar in Buzz, together with the cartoon characters? Have you thought about this? It would feel like really being in the game. Until today, no PS3 Game uses the home avatars, i dont know why, i think that would be great and the other 2 systems support this in many games.

  • I already bought Buzz! Quiz TV, so my question is. Will I be able to buy Buzz! Quiz World standalone disc without the buzzers?

  • @ I_am_rushin:

If it’s like the previous version, you can get the new one with buzzers and have 8 available for local play.

  • My and my wife are HUGE fans of BUZZ! I will be picking this up for sure. Its a great party game also a good game to get people to play who normally wouldn’t play video games. Very overlooked exclusive on the PS3, I’m glad you guys continue to support this unique title.

  • I loved the first buzz game alot.. I was wondering if there was an option to just download the new question pack and keep the same interface from the original Buzz… I dont want to change discs depending on what version of Buzz I am playing… would just to have one place I go and all the questions are there.

  • Finally…8 players online!

  • Is this game only in english?

  • Will Buzz Quiz World have support for other languages? I like to play english quizzes but i would like to play it with the whole family at home in spanish. Hope it’s in there.

  • @22 joseph2411

yea same for me.. except i want it in french

  • Can’t wait for this game, how much does it retail for the game and 4 controllers? or what ever the package is?

  • hey jenny, will my EU Buzz quiz T.v Buzzers controllers work with my US Buzz World Quiz bluray disk?

please answer i don’t want to be disappointed when i find out it doesn’t work after buying disk only.

  • way off topic here but i can’t go to the ps store or manage my account it tells me the store is not available in my region (new york) and i get an error message when check my account and it’s not just me my cousin just called me with the same problem. a little help would be nice thank you

  • OT:

Anyone else having trouble with the US PSstore right now?

  • Hmmm, I liked the first one, and there was nothing wrong with the quizzes, but it got repetitive.
The price will have to be right and I’ll have to do more research on it.

  • I got it preordered. Can’t wait to get this since I really liked the first Buzz.

  • I’m called Aaron.I’m glad Buzz can say it.

  • Does it support up to 8 people a console or 4 a console?

  • I’m confused. Why isn’t there an option to upgrade the current Buzz! with all this stuff? At least with Singstar we get new software updates along new disc based releases.

  • Spanish support please… Let me know for a first day buy. Be at least like tv skow king. They are a cheaper version of this game and have Spanish support

  • This game needs languages options.

I don’t know how you can overlook the dozens of millions of latinos living in US, whom native language is spanish. What about the province of Quebec that has 7 millions of french speaking people, or New Brunswick.

Please refrain from such comments as they should learn english, it’s my third language after the 2 mentioned above, and I write it better than most americans I’ve seen online.

  • I didn’t play enough of the last Buzz! to buy this one. I probably still have 2000 questions that I haven’t seen yet.

  • what’s the retail price for this game?

  • looks solid, cant wait.

  • Is the PSP release next week also?

  • I already own Buzz Quiz TV. Will that give me any benefit if I pickup Quiz World? What I mean is, can I import all the old questions from Quiz TV into Quiz World, or something to that effect.

I feel like I just bought Quiz TV, I don’t know if I can justify buying a new one just for more questions when I haven’t gone through all the questions in the first game yet.

  • Nice to see more Buzz…awesome party game with 8 buzzers. Needs more advertising!

  • i’m totally impressed!

  • got the bundle for $29.99 with the buzzers – sweet!

  • Important question… Will the game feature other languages then English?

I would like to play it in french, but previous Buzz game were only available in english for Canada… I was aible to order it in English/french game from Europe

    anyone can tell?

    thanks

  • DING! This is not about Dissidia! DING! This is lame! DING! Release Dissidia!

  • I was pretty disappointed with the PS3 version of BUZZ!. My family and friends still play the PS2 version because of the local high score list. It’s great to see who has had the best, and worst, games of all time. It’s also fun to try and do better and gives us something to aim for.

The PS3 version took it out and just made entering your name a useless feature. I guess that’s why you’re adding the speakable names list but that’s not the same.

The biggest gripe I have with all BUZZ! games is that the final round relies too much on speed. Slow readers (little kids) and people with slow reaction speed (my parents) can never win even if they know the answers. Hopefully Quiz World has a better final round game.

  • i really wish they were banning people on the blog like in the old days

  • Im so glad i held off getting quiz tv now i can get this game. I haven’t really played buzz (besides psp demo) but i can’t wait to have it at some partys.

  • It seems to me that they could have just update/download for the first buzz. And 5000 questions only? Is that all a bluray can hold? Come on now…I smell addons at additional prices coming. This is not the way to get people to buy. Make it significantly better or just do an update. I would not mind picking this up to get the wife and others into gaming but right now it’s not enough for me to buy it. I have buzz on the psp…it’s ok…but seem like it would be more fun on the big screen.

  • Is the buzzer wireless? I mean why would we plug stuff in when we have a wireless controller. My ps3 is in another room than the TV in the living room.
