I’m Gordon Van Dyke and I’m the Associate Producer for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 here at EA’s DICE studio in Stockholm.
Today we’re excited to announce that our forthcoming multiplayer beta is coming exclusively to PS3, so you’ll have a chance to experience all the action, destruction and vehicular warfare ahead of our full release in March 2010.
Starting on November 19, the beta will feature the huge ‘Arica Harbour’ map where up to 24 players compete to secure valuable crates in the ‘Rush’ game mode as the action moves across a variety of different locations. From an initial vehicle assault on a military outpost the war winds through streets of a deserted town to an intense final fire-fight in an industrial harbour.

Getting access to the beta will differ from country to country, but here are a few specific ways of getting hold of a key:
- We’ll be holding a special limited giveaway right here on the PlayStation Blog (details TBA)
- Pre-ordering the game at participating retailer
- Checking out selected gaming sites such as IGN or GameSpot in North America.

How long will the beta be, it starts in November when does it end. And do you plan on releasing a demo like you did with the last game?

On a serious topic, is there a limited edition and is it available in Canada? I checked Amazon.ca but they only had the regular one.

I was planning on getting MW2 and I’ve been debating between it and this game and I will probably pick up the limited edition instead. Thank you EA and DICE for supporting the PS3 unlike some people (*cough* Infinity Ward) I hope the marketing campaign will center around the PS3 version.

I’m wondering about the rating of this game. I was able to easially buy the first one because of the T on it. Im wondering since you added blood, the rating will spike up to an M for some rediculous reason. What do you think? (please answer) *Even if it is M i still will get it, just with much greater difficulty

Nice. I was hoping for a BETA for this game. Is there any chance QORE subscribers like me, can get access to this beta in the future. I know not on November 17th, but for MAG beta just a while ago we got access to that.

Question. When are gamestop and bestbuy going to start giving away the keys? I was going to pre order anyway i am just wondering so i can also get the beta.
I was thinking of getting this and Call of Duty, but Call of Duty screwed all PC gamers over; consoles are most likely next. Now, since I have almost all battlefields and play heroes, I am preordering this Januray 31st. Good Job Dice, keep up the amazing work and better support then the second rate shooters *cough* Crap of Duty sucks *cough* lol.

Brand Battlefield Bad Company 2 New?! Nice placement there. I’d like to join.
I have some questions about Bad Company 2 if you could answer please.
1) Is there prone this time?
2) Does the squad leader keep changing as the battle goes on still like it did in #1? Or will it be like Battlefield 2 where we can have 1 dedicated squad leader for our squad. I ask this because often times when I was a squad leader in a good tactical position wanting my squad to spawn on me, it would then switch the role to some sniper in my squad who’s out in the middle of nowhere and now we’re spawning nowhere near the battle, or if I was sniping in a good position, I’d have my squadmates start spawning on me giving away my position which got frustrating at times lol. So going back to the question, will it be like BF2 and we’ll have a dedicated squad leader, or is it still going to be like BF:BC?
3) Thank you for dedicated servers for the PC version :)
4) Oh and last one! Any plans for co-op in this?

Gordon, you are THE MAN! Battlefield: Bad Company obliterates the Modern Warfare name for me. Gotta love the Call of Duty fanboys and their blind loyalism for two developers (Infinity Ward / Treyarch) that continue to put out the same game over and over. Modern Warfare 2 isn’t worth the $65, especially after reading about recent decisions made by IW. Decisions that are so laughably wrong I can’t continue to support Activision. That Kotick d-bag needs to go. MW2 offers the same multiplayer, same outdated engine, same graphics, I could go on. Why not charge less instead of more? The answer’s simple when you see so many COD fanboys worshipping a franchise that isn’t worthy of the praise. They’ll buy anything as long as COD is in the title, even if it’s confirmed to suck, like MW2.
Being a huge fan of Battlefield, the wait is killing me and I thank you for bringing us the beta. It’s bad enough that all the footage I’ve seen is running on 360 so I’d like to experience the PS3 version firsthand. Wouldn’t be fair to give them the beta AGAIN after we missed out the first time so again, thank you.

Now I wanna see some of the single player campaign which should be AWESOME with the improved visuals and tech, and if Co-op is in the game I’m gonna burst of sheer excitement.
Thanks for the PS3 love DICE/EA and thanks for putting Aussie dedicated servers in Batllefield 1943. I play the game every weekend and I mean EVERY WEEKEND. :) I love it!

Hey Brad, I have a question.
Is BFBC:2 geared to be more of a “M” rated shooter or a “T” rated shooter like all the previous BF games? I wouldn’t see why this should be a “M” rated game while every other BF game is “T”.

Love Battlefield BC pre-ordering this week
I’m glad to see a Beta for this, and I’ll be pre-ordering for sure. I’m not a huge fan of Bad Company, I prefer BF 1943 or BF2: Modern Combat but I’ll own this one as well.
I would just like to ask that use bring Battlefield 2: Modern Combat to the PS3, PLEASE. It is still what I consider the best shooter of all time, and since it seems that use are never gonna bother with making another one(huge mistake) I would like to play that on my PS3. Use did it for the 360 now I ask use please do it for the PS3. Do it as a side project, even consider doing it as a downloadable game only(cut costs). I promise you it will sell, word of mouth on that game alone will guarantee sales.
