We have some great news for SOCOM: Confrontation fans. We’re excited to announce that the 1.60 patch is now available for download. Patch 1.60 contains a massive amount of new content and features entirely free to all players.
New Special Forces – The Dutch KCT and Italian COMSUBIN Special Forces teams are featured in this update. Each Force is provided with two new heads, a new voice and light, medium and heavy variants of their own torsos and legs (each with a unique camouflage pattern).
New Weapons – Two new primary weapons will be immediately accessible to players who select to play as the new Special Forces. The Dutch KCT will have access to the 417 assault rifle, while the Italian COMSUBIN Special Forces will receive the SPAS 15 shotgun. Additionally, four new weapons will be made available to players regardless of assigned Special Force. New weapons include the 9mm Sub Machine Gun, M82A1A, AK-74 and SR-25.
Weapon Updates – A number of weapon updates and adjustments to existing weapons have been included in the patch. Below is an overview of the updates and adjustments that have been made:
- M87ELR is given .50 cal rounds to balance it against the Mercenaries’ M82A1A.
- Shotguns are balanced to do less damage at long range but more damage at close range.
- Grenade launchers and rocket launchers have less delay in between shots.
- Front End weapons values are updated to reflect the new Cold Front DLC Pack weapons.
In addition to the new characters and weapons, the team has also added 100% Random Medleys to the patch update.
We also have some big news on the SOCOM Confrontation ‘Cold Front’ DLC Pack. To begin with, we now have an official release date: December 17th on the PlayStation Network. We want to make sure that you’re able to spend the holiday break playing ‘Cold Front’. In addition, the special $9.99 pricing will now be available from launch through Sunday, December 20.

Funny that you’ve said it was unplayable cause I’ve played it since day 1. The servers have been fixed for a dang year now. Heck you see more lag on your sweet cod series games.
But anyway, this patch is definitly great and alot of new UI additions to the game aswell, such as load screens and so forth. The DLC is definitly a day 1 purchase for this vet.
Its a shame that noobs can’t get off of cod and end up missing out on the best competitive online shooter this gen and last gen.
woo-hoo SOCOM 1.60 patch! maybe the game will work as advertised now,but you guys shouldn’t have expected much from a free game that came with a $60 headset.

You know I seriously might have considered getting this if you guys would have at least lowered the price to a reasonable level. I mean I could get the disc copy for less than it is on the PSN, and then for such an old game with such a bad reputation now your charging for DLC, and on top of that such a high fee? :/

In opening i’d like to say Thank You Slant 6. Now why is it that you guys never told us what the hold up was and why have you never answered a single post about the game? The $9.99 is steep is should be 4.99 at least for a few days and if you like remaking old maps where in the hell is Fishhook,Foxhunt,Enowapi? Well Since you won’t comment anyway here’s hoping for a miracle Santa.
I suppose I will give the game ANOTHER shot. I miss Socom II, one of my favorite games ever :( Hopefully Zipper will make its mark again with MAG.

People are always tlking about how you “screwed” this game up but I haven’t had any serious problems that ruined my game play except the once in a blue moon no gun in my hands which meant I had to go all rambo with my nife and the glitches what didn’t really bother me personly I think these people just don’t have anything to do better but whine about a game that they may have problems with

I just want Socom 2 remade with HD graphics and put on the PSN store for $20.00, I’ll be all over that.
I’m sorry to say that after downloading the patch, I went to check the new weapons and was disapointed to see the wapons only work if you have the new map pack. In addition, I found they changed the whole lobby so it works with the map pak. There’s almost No rooms to chose from without the map pak and the 4×4 elimination maps are gone, leaving only 8×8’s and all medleys.
I personally believe they’re forcing gamers to buy the map pak or else. Does that make anybody feel like they’re shoving the map pak up your ass? A map pack we should had gotten for free because of the still incomplete game we spent up to $50.00 to start with. Slant Six is the most incompetent of all developers I’ve ever seen.
Everybody is all about the money. I’m included in that group. But to make that money you have to please your consumers first. And Slant Six does NOT know how to do that. First they only want to sell us their crap, and when we already have it. they won’t fix it but by trying to sell us some more crap! I, (and I’m sure I’m not alone on this) really disgusted by their lack of respect!

so far from what i saw the patch did fix some issues but if i can some how tear myself away from assassins creed 2, modern warfare2, borderlands, borderlands and uncharted2 maybe i’ll actually get back to socom

By the way you express yourself I can tell you are too dumb to reallyze how many people are pissed at the game and how many like it. You are also not aware that you are NOT really that good at the game. The game lag is what’s on your favor. Have you counted the BAD criticysm against the good? Obviously a one sided fight.
And about Zipper and MAG, I played the beta. If a Beta is already better and more fun than a game that’s been out for that long, then there’s gotta be something wrong with the damn game.
I am/or have been a Socom fan since the old Socoms. I was part of a big clan in all of those. And it’s sad that PS2 games were far better than it’s successor.
I’m glad it’s working for some of you, but if you think about it, the majority of Socom fans is NOT buying it. How’s that good for Slant Six?

i went through about 10-15 discs of socom between all 3 of the first releases because i played that game so much i burned rings into the dvds
and as far as mag goes thats an entirely different game let alone title in itself thats like tryin to compare gears to resistance

I think the update compliments the game well in I like the new factions, weapons, fixes, etc. and even the new look of a few things. The rounds always saying ?/8 is a bit confusing though at first.
The only gripe I have about this game is just the lack of content for it. Yes there is a lot of multiplayer only games out there, but looking at all of the previous Socoms, there was just an expectation that was not met. No single player, no co-op campaign (which this game screams for), quite a few bugs on release and only seven maps when Socom II had like over twenty multiplayer maps (this is just a few problems). Cold Front DLC should be free in my opinion and I seriously do not see myself picking this up at even $9.99 when it is adding content that should have been there in the first place.
Here is hoping to see Zipper do something along the lines as Infinity Ward did with Call of Duty Classic coming out in line with Modern Warfare 2. While it seems unlikely, would love to see Socom Classic hit the PSN Store in HD form with multiplayer alongside MAG hitting retail. Could easily make a killing with all of the disgruntled Socom veterans out there looking for what they once loved so dearly.
The problem each person who has left a negative comment about this game is simple, and it includes myself, that is we ALL wanted this game to be GREAT. However it came out broken. The last time I even tried this game was sometime back in March… or there about. I’m hoping this latest update makes it better. I’ve dusted off my copy of SOCOM and downloaded the patch. While I’ve only played it a couple of hours it does seem much better than I remember, however it may be too little too late.
Unlike the others I think $9.99 is a great value for this DLC if you are going to play SOCOM, it works out to about $2 a map which is great. However for myself I’ll play with this new update and if it does really fix many of the issues I’ve had with the game I may just pick up the DLC.
To Slant 6 in your next update can you put a simple at the top of the attachments menu? Similar to what’s on the weapons menu. I had to go online to find out how to add a suppressor to my guns. It’s a simple answer but caused frustration to something so simple that I think many people don’t know about.
I guess TEAM KILLING for some of you is not just limited to game play!
How can you complain about $10??? We are to pay $50 once with all the support and updates? Some of you did not pay the $50 and you still complain??? I will gladly pay $10 instead of $50 for a new game!!!
We complain about the issues with the game but do not address the players that are contributing to those problems!!! If players were not in the game trying to cheat maybe some issues would go away altogether.
Slant 6…keep the fresh maps and weaponry coming! Your target audience appreciates it.

I don’t give a crap what you all say. I’ve played MW2, Halo, and a bunch of other games. Socom started this and Socom will end it. Slant 6 may not be the best, but I am addicted. You can bet you @$$ i’ll be up at midnight downloadin’ the new Cold Front Pack. Socom is THE BEST game. Had it since day one on ps1, and have never had a problem with networks or anything. Good Job. I’ll pay the 10 bucks and play the (DELETED) out of it. Gonna get my 10 bucks out of it killin some noobs.
