  • Nice bands. Wish this edition would come to Portugal…

  • Is this EP exclusive to the Ultimate Edition, or just an added bonus? I’d love to listen to these songs, but I’m not a big enough fan of God of War to buy the Ultimate Edition.

  • Nice, just another reason why it is going to kick a$$.

  • GOTTA HAVE IT!!!

  • I hate that genre, not appealing to me. I’m still buying the game though, preferably from Amazon.ca. Hopefully they get a cool pre-order bonus but usually they don’t have jack squat.

  • Cover reminds me of inFamous’ Boxart haha.

  • Wait just a second…

In the original post, the EP was unveiled as “a heavy metal homage featuring original music inspired by God of War (mp3 digital download).”

Now, it’s being announced as a metal EP that “will feature five exclusive unreleased songs from Roadrunner artists, including KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, DREAM THEATER, TRIVIUM, OPETH and TAKING DAWN.”

How do we know metal fans (Personally, I am not one) aren’t the bums rush and going to just get unreleased (More than likely just domestically) material that has absolutely no connection with God of War?

  • Will there be any other way to get these without having to get the ultimate edition? (i.e DLC)

  • Dream Theater?? SOLD!!!

  • Woo Music should be awesome

  • aw man I am disappointed

mainly because i only see 2 out of 5 good artist

(the good ones being Opeth and dream theater)

and they don’t even fit with the metalness of the game
(opeth does but not dream theater they’re more prog than metal IMO)

I personally would of chose Manowar, Overkill, Venom, Iced Earth and Kreator

(for those who don’t know venom pretty much inspired half of slayers sound)

mainly because four of those bands fit with the “metalness” of this game (even though this game doesn’t necessarily represent metal it is metal in the sense that it’s pretty much blood going all over the place and that fits metal more than any other music gerne (lets be honest rap doesn’t do it because the culture revolves around modern times while metal can be any time you want it to be)

so yeah if they’re adding any more artist think about the ones i mentioned all of those bands would fit more with the game than Killswitch (who is Nu-Metal btw which is NOT METAL)

  • killswitch engage! boy that takes me back…

  • For some reason…I see DethKlok buying this game…

  • I want gow3 and and challenge arenas like killswitch engage but not enough for me to spend 100 dollars. Any other way we can get the challenge arenas without getting the ultimate edition? dlc via playstation store?

  • “KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, DREAM THEATER, TRIVIUM, OPETH and TAKING DAWN.”

Eh, couldn’t you have gotten some better bands, like Suffocation or Kreator?

  • @AriesWarlock

Judging by your name, and bands you listed, you have great taste sir. And…. agreed, I think they could have gotten some much more brutal metal like Abigail Williams, Suffocation, Black Dahlia Murder, Behemoth, or even Iced Earth. I think any of those would have been more fitting for the brutality in God of War. Still, happy that it’s a form of metal and not Breaking Benjamin or Evanescence.

    @ #57
I know that Trivium and Dream Theater have said in radio and online interviews that they are recording a track specifically for this release, don’t know about the others

  • Already pre-ordered and paid off. Can’t wait for March.

  • Heavy metal FTW

  • Holy crap guys. People like Rocksteady give us a batarang, Arkham Journal and making of DVD, whereas YOU guys just go all out and give us so much we should be paying $200 for it.

I’ll be getting the collectors edition and I can’t wait.

  • Opeth is a start, at getting some good metal, Dream Theater are ok I guess (I think they’re past their prime)
But you guys should’ve got Nile.
Their music is epic, and brutal just like God Of War, and I think it totally fits the game.
Look up “Even the gods must die” on youtube as an example.

  • Just one question, I preordered the God of War III Ultimate Edition from Gamestop and I’m from Mexico so my question is:

Will I be able to download the God of War Trilogy Soundtrack?

  • I am so glad that you are including this with the ultimate edition. I think that you all should go all out for this game and release a limited edition ps3 bundle just in time for the release of this game. There is so much great art for this game. Have you guys ever thought about have the different art of God Of War displayed on the ps3’s? Also is there anything along the way of dynamic themes for this game?

  • Wait a minute….this doesn’t mean that GOW 3 has been revamped to have a heavy metal soundtrack does it? It’s been a while since I played the first 2 games but I remember them having cool music that fit the games really, really well…with Hollywood-ish scores on a grand scale. Hope this isn’t like that POP Warrior Within [DELETED], that COMPLETELY took me out of the game………………..

And just on a side note, those bands REALLY are lame. Dream Theater? Are you kidding me?

  • For $99.99 I’d have expected the Ultimate Edition to actually be worth the extra we are paying but apparently it seems like we’re only paying some nice box container. Why not give us actual CDs for the soundtrack? Why wouldn’t the making of be on the actual blu-ray disc itself let alone on another blu-ray period?

Not sure if I even want the the Ultimate Edition now if you’re not really giving me anything to “collect” in the first place.

  • @43. I totally agree that the documentary should be on the Blu-ray. What is the point of the PlayStation 3 having the advantage of built-in blu-ray if even Sony don’t use it for their biggest titles. What sort of example does this set to third party developers? A bad one. Just think if Sony did a great job, it would inspire other publishers to include extra content on game discs, then customers would see that the PS3 games have extra features. Why be content to equal the features of the competition’s dvds, why not try and out do them?

Making the documentary available as a compressed sized download is silly and undervalues the blu-ray advantage of the PS3. Sony should be demonstrating how great it is to have a 1080p documentary included on a blu-ray disc, instead of ignoring one of the PS3s biggest assets.

A documentary as a downloadable movie file… even the Xbox 360 can do that.

  • I think this might be the first crazy special edition of any game that I’ve ever been on board for. MGS4 had a limited edition but it wasn’t that extravagant. This is going to be epic.

  • Good thing i pre-ordered for 89$

  • Absolutely excited for God Of War III, although, the addition of the music disc is not enough to encourage me to splurge on the collectors edition. I have been dissapointed with all my previous collector edition purchases in the past.

  • Dream Theater, AND OPETH. YES PLEASE.

@34 TailsTheCat – What does this mean?
“You are all too young to remember Dream Theater; theres about half of a metal band on that soundtrack. Pathetic.”

Dream Theater is still going strong. I loved their earlier more straight prog stuff, then they made some serious metal (The Glass Prison; Train of Thought album, etc.) and now have found a nice balance of prog metal.

And Opeth is SICK. You people owe it to your self to give Opeth a whirl.

And can we add a Slayer track to that CD? Maybe Flesh Storm, or Raining Blood? Mooooney.
