Welcome back from the holidays, Zipper fans! As we mentioned before we went on break, today is the day that our 100% free and open MAG Beta program kicks off on the PlayStation Network!
Hopefully, you’ve taken advantage of the head start we provided a few weeks back and already downloaded all the files you need so you can just log in and start playing the game immediately. If you didn’t get a chance to grab the goods quite yet, however, or are just now learning about the program for the first time, that’s okay too – anyone can grab the MAG Beta and its files at any time between now and the end of the testing phase on January 10 at 11:59pm.
Here’s a three-step refresher course on what you’ll need to do to get the Beta:

1. Log on to the PlayStation Store, Select “View All By Title -> M Titles -> MAG” and download the MAG Beta file like you would any other freely-available PSN video or demo (298 MB)
2. Launch the MAG Beta program from your XMB to download a special patch that will restart MAG once the update has been received (another 37 MB)
3. After the reboot, the Beta will reconnect and download the actual game data so that you can play (1.8 GB – 2.3 GB depending on your region)
Remember, the MAG Beta is taking place worldwide – all you need to participate no matter where you live is a PlayStation 3 and an internet connection. Once you’ve logged on, get ready to enjoy two different game modes: 64-player sabotage and 256-player domination!

Im getting the “disconnected from the game universe” error as well.
Hey i made a character and read to go but now i cant join anything becuase it keeps on disconnecting me, is this only me or the mag server?
I must say that I’m glad i tried this beta before buying, since i strongly doubt this will be much different from the final product. I like the concept, but face it, the execution of this game is debatable. The maps are divided in zones, so you will never see huge amount of players anywhere, let alone 128v128.
The matchmaking needs work, takes way too long to find enough players to start a game.
Add re-mappable controls or at least more options to choose from.
Iron sight animations, WTF? Did you do it in 3 frames? This goes for most of the animations in game, they need to be properly redone.
And whats up with the sound fx in this game? I swear, with any automatic gun, its like running with a machine gun from Quake 3, it even feels like you’re playing q3.
Take it easy with the cross hair, thing is huge. (add option to customize it?)
The overall feel of the game is stiff, there’s no team play, everyone is doing there own thing. No co ordination.
Cant believe that its due to be released in a few weeks. Sorry, but it needs a lot more work.
awesome! i made my character but i get disconnected at the SVER menu after a minute. i get error 12:4
Gotta tell ya, this game is fun … server issues and bugs are expected, especially day one but maybe have a limited beta instead of open beta so that you can work more effectively, these issues need to be addressed and it may be easier if you have less people on the beta trial.
LOL it worked fine from 7 to 11 at 11 it crashed 7-11 has a conspiracy going on no one buys games at 7-11 so they have made a STATEMENT LOL
Getting error 12:4 when trying to log into my character now. Anyone else?

wow MAG team u are going to need alot more beta testing before u get this right,the more hours that roll by more will try and play and ur servers won’t take it again and this will be going on for days as more and more try to play.u need way more then a couple of days
I was pretty hopeful about this game, but the server issues are making me disinclined to buy it. I can understand that it’s a beta, but there was already a beta test – these issues should have been sorted out before now.
This is your first impression, and right or wrong, people are going to make up their minds based on it.
The Connection to the game universe was lost. please check your internet connection or try again later…(3:4)…. Realy? ………..RealY?
It’s the first day everyone needs to calm down. You and everyone else are trying to connect at the same time give them a break.
They’re definitely in the middle of server tweaks, as one time I logged in and there were many available game modes like suppression and acquisition, and another log in it was back down to sabotage and domination.
Let them do their jobs, and wait until you get some solid play time before coming to rash conclusions.
Saw that the server is having hiccups, more like it’s choking on a bone lol.
I hope you guys fix it. Can’t get in at all. Keep getting 12:4, 13:4, and 3:4 errors.
Oh and it’s just MAG on my end because I can get in on a game of MW2 just fine.
Our current hurdle is a different one actually — it\’s the lobbies; we\’re working on that one as we speak. It\’s obviously not an idea situation for folks (especially if you\’ve never beta tested before), but things like this can happen. But that\’s all part of the process — we work these things out now so that the final product doesn\’t run into the same issues.
