  • Wow, I remember playing Metal Slug 2 at the local mall comic store/arcade. Even with it’s evident slowdown, MS2 was still a awesome game at the time. Starting with MS6, I liked that fixed the characters with individualized weaponry skills which I loved even if the title itself seemed to go by quicker then it’s predecessors, not to mention the inclusion of the SNK’s Ikari Warriors into the mix.

Replayability wise, It’ll be cool to play the challenge sidequests. If I have anything to look forward to though, its having the option in playing as KOF’s Leona in something other than the MS Cellphone games. I also wonder if this mean’s we’ll be seeing some other KOF characters such as Heidern or Whip in the future.

  • I’ve never really digged Mega Man and the like too much, because I’ve never been an exploration kinda guy, but Metal Slug just perfectly fits that slot in my heart for side scrolling shoot-em-ups that are action based. No need to find the secret morph ball powerup, I just need guns and grenades and the ability to slide on the ground.

  • i love the “OMG!! how the hell did i survive that!!!” moments

  • The fact that it’s Metal Slug, which most of us grew up playing and side scrollers are the best games. We need more.

  • Cool I always enjoyed this series both visually and gameplay.

  • I like the running and gunning.

  • This is what today’s young gamers need to play to really appreciate video games. The greatest aspect is playing something new and fresh. While still keeping the old-school, crazy, hardcore challenge right with it. Thanks SNK

  • what aspect is there not to love? old skool side scrolling shooter with beautiful graphics that never grow stale no matter how old the franchise gets. its a shame games like this are so far and few in between. SNK/Playmore will forever be in my top 5 game companies.

bring us a new Garou game please! or at least a new installment for KoF that doesn’t seem like it’s a SF4 clone. XP

  • i love that no matter how many times the bosses killed me, i always had to put in just one more quarter, just one more…..

  • My favorite aspect of the Metal Slug series of games is the 2d old school run and gun gameplay.

  • Truly Metal Slug stands out as one of my favorite video game franchise. The assortment of killer weapons, the Slugs, and epic boss battles. I love it all. Metal Slug Anthology is my favorite PSP title and I can’t wait to get my hands on Metal Slug XX.

  • I am pretty sure I am getting this Day 1.

  • I love metal slug. Huge fan of the series.

  • I love metal slug! I love atlus!

  • i love metal slug in that it is the best side scrolling game ever made especially for arcades its just apologetically brutal

  • I like the way you throw all of your grenades in 2 seconds! Been playin for over a decade!

  • Metal Slug strives on it’s co-op play, so when 7 came out, it was HORRIBLE. I’m glad this one will have co-op back. The way it was meant to be played :)

  • metal slug portable?! what more do i need to say? unless ur into carrying around a whole arcade cabinet.

  • What i most like of metal slug series is that it never changes it keeps bringing that perfect mix of running and guning with the hardcore 2D side scroller

  • Its actually REALLY difficult to pick just one favorite thing…

I know its been said, but I have to go with the art style. I remember the first moment I laid eyes on a Metal Slug game.. it was truly captivating.

I’ve recently found on the internet large pictures that depict the entire levels of certain metal slug games. To see the levels from that view only made me love it more.

What I REALLY, REALLY want… is to see a hand-drawn Metal Slug done in 1080p with HD textures. If the same spirit could be captured… I would buy that off of PSN so, SO fast. :) I hope this is at LEAST being discussed.

  • My favorite aspect? Man, probably the crazy animated art style, honestly. But the insanity of the action itself is a close second.

  • My favorite aspect has to be the “hand-drawn” style and brilliantly animated sprites. Metal Slug is the only game I would play in the arcade when I was a kid. I absolutely love it!

  • Is there going to be a demo before the game is released?

    • Geddy2003,

I\’m afraid there are currently no plans for a demo. It\’s authentic Metal Slug action though, so if you\’ve ever had a chance to try any of the other games in the series, you should have a great idea about what kind of action-packed, explosion-filled gameplay you can expect to run into.

  • Why do I love Metal Slug? Good sir or ma’am I will tell you why I love Metal Slug. Back when I was a kid? I’d go to this sandwich-shop named Baldinos so I could order some of the most delicious subs ever in the good United States of America for lunch. Now this was a lengthy-process for my ADD riddled mind, so I had to be entertained. Thankfully, there was something to entertain me. That my good sir or ma’am was a Metal Slug cabinet. I played the CRAP out of that cabinet, sometimes with my older brother, and we usually got our butts handed to us. But never did I back down, because winners always win. They never lose in the face of adversity. I was not about to let that cabinet control me. So day in, day out I’d play that cabinet. Until I finally beat that game and made MY initals #1 on that cabinet. That will forever hold true to me. And the fact they added in King of Fighters characters into most recent Metal Slug games has blown my shorts off.

Good sir or ma’am, that is why I love Metal Slug. All hail SNK.

  • Oh man, I’m so excited for this! I crave old-school gaming! I love how this game is holding true to its roots and sticking to the tried and true side scrolling awesomeness!

  • I love the action!

  • Oh boy nothing like playing a old game again. Gee this really was awesome on the Nintendo DS when it was called Metal Slug 7.

  • The action is the best aspect of these games I love the addrinaline (my spelling sucks) rush they give you!

  • Metal Slug has always been and will always be my favorite side scroller. I must have pumped 50 bucks into the machine at a local comic book store one summer.

Any chance to play more MS is fine by me.

  • One of my favorite aspects about metal slug is that I love the way the game looks in its classic graphics where I can play all day long until my fingers hurt at arcades.

  • i love the metal slug games because of all the different weapons you can get…

  • I will be getting this. Metal Slug Rocks.

  • I’d say aside from being referenced in the movie Fulltime Killer, where I was first introduced to the series, I love that from Metal Slug one to even XX it just feels the same. Something even Mario can’t do.

  • To be honest I have never played a metal slug game before, but I may have to check this out since its only $20.

  • I’m seeing reports that this won’t get a digital release. Is this true? C’mon Atlus, what gives?

  • The best thing about metal slug is how it’s still using it’s tried and true old school formula. It doesn’t try to reach some ground breaking new 3d, auto-aiming, story driven game like all these new “Next-gen-” games. It’s classic “Shoot everything, don’t get shot, save the prisoners” fun. I’ve always been a big fan of metal slug, and I can’t wait for this.

  • what is your favorite aspect of Metal Slug? I’d have to say the difficulty level. Some of my favorite gaming memories are of hitting the Metal Slug machine around the corner during work breaks, getting my butt kicked, and swearing that i’d be back to dominate.

  • well for me its 2 big things… the fact it was never easy and took a lot of skill, and the constant weird things to shoot, I always enjoyed shooting zombies/monkeys/robots/etc

  • My favorite part of the series is its adherence to old school gaming with one hit meaning your death. Not many games still do that these days.

  • My favorite part of metal slug is the coop. Me and a friend played through every metal slug in one sitting. Good times…

  • woot Metal Slug FTW

  • I really like the fact that I will play Metal Slug XX on day one… Oh, wait, that’s gonna NOT happen because you guys will not launch a digital version of this game on day one. If you will EVER launch.

Nice way to please your loyal fanbase, excluding some (maybe a lot) of us.

  • I love the art style and character design. I love the 2D revival that’s been happening the last few years.

  • This is the Throwback of all current games and MetalSlug brings that feeling of those gold ole shoot’em and shank’em type games from back in the arcade days!!

  • There are so many things I love about Metal Slug, but I’ll say it’s the awesome 2D graphics and crazy amount of sprites onscreen.

  • Put it on PS3 with online multiplayer/coop!

  • My favorite aspect of the Metal Slug series has to be the amazing sprite animations. From getting big and exploding to the puking zombies. Its all the little details that even show how much effort the developers put in. Especially like in the first Metal Slug, when you fall off the bridge sometimes you just drown, but also sometimes you get eaten by the mega fish! Oh course the co-op also helps.

  • the fast paced chaos with the storyline of insanity and greatness!

  • hey kevin any news on white knight chronicles? i’m told that we are less than a month away from the game and you guys havent spoken more about the game.are u guys going to talk about it before it launch?

sorry for beign off topic here guys
