Many of you have been waiting anxiously for news and details about the downloadable content we at Naughty Dog have been working on and we have been saying you’ll hear about it “soon.” Well, soon is finally here.
You may have gotten a glimpse of this initial DLC release as part of some news that made its rounds around the internet yesterday, but that wasn’t the full story.
So, what is going to be available on the PlayStation Network Store on January 28, you ask?
Thanks to our friends at Guerilla Games, Insomniac Games and Sucker Punch Productions, we’ve been able to a pull off something unique within the UNCHARTED 2 competitive multiplayer modes – our first DLC release is the UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves PlayStation Heroes Skin Pack.
The PlayStation Heroes Skin Pack contains seven new skins featuring some key personalities from other major PlayStation first-party titles – Sev and a Helghast soldier from Killzone 2, Nathan Hale and a Chimera from Resistance 2, and Cole (both good and evil variants!) and Zeke from inFAMOUS.
The UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves PlayStation Heroes Skin Pack will be available for purchase globally on the PlayStation Store on January 28, 2010, for $4.99 in the US. If you’re outside of the U.S., check your local Store or announcement for region specific pricing.
We have another release that’s appearing on the PSN Store on January 28 – the UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves single-player demo will be available to all, free of cost. Now you can tell your friends who haven’t played our game yet (slackers!) that they can easily check out UNCHARTED 2 for themselves by downloading the PSN demo starting next Thursday.
As you can see, a little bit of the information you may have spotted yesterday is different and that should let you know that not everything you may have read is accurate and up to date.
There is no doubt that we have some long-term plans for DLC and that we need to share those plans with a lot of people so we can all do our jobs properly. The fact of the matter is that game development, even for downloadable content, is a fluid and sometimes unpredictable process until you get closer to releasing whatever is being worked on. We don’t share our DLC plans publicly from the beginning because things can and will change over the course of development and we absolutely don’t want to create any unrealized expectations for millions of fans of our game.
It’s incredibly important to us at Naughty Dog that our fans have the best and most accurate information about anything we’re up to. There will be more info coming in the months ahead about our future DLC content once we have everything solidly locked down – and, trust me, there are a lot of very cool things in store for UNCHARTED 2.
if most of the money from this dlc is going for u2 innovations and uncharted 3 development, then i guess its a reasnoble cause

I am kinda sad you guys didn’t include a skin for Jak and Ratchet (I would love that). You guys are my favorite developer on the playstation console. I have played every game you guys have released. I own every Jak game you guys made and still do :) Got a copy of the limited Edition trilogy DVD. Any chance that the Player Sync Error will get fixed before this is released?

in infamous, didnt zeke tell cole to hold a gun for a second and it nearly blew up his hand….
to me i think the price of DLC is fair because 7 skins for 4.99 is about 0.71 each the skins are awesome
Maybe it should be separate in individuals or in a good pack and evil pack sense ppl are complaining i mean the Europe pack had 2 skins and 4 videos for about 4.99 in us price
Also ND updated 3 times with the leader bored,the plunder match, fort map, ranked match fix, even double the money with cant get skins on holidays even eye of Indra video that was free then you buy the rest
so its like ND give us free things then we pay you back 4 great things that has a price but the maps we need or give the old maps some new things in it a update to it
i think we are taking the free stuff like it always will happen cause we getting use to it. ND might have frustration on all saying do that,give us this,and saying that we dont like your offer all the time
Why not add Kessler or a Reaper? Those would have been better choices then Zeke. I’ve noticed a trend. You guys did this with Jak 3 and other games. You could get skins for other games for having a save. Then ratchet did it with Jak. Although Sucker Punch stayed out of it I think, I don’t remember any jak or ratchet skins.
Why not add Jak, Sly, and Ratchet. That would be fun.
Naughty Dog, Get Konami’s permission and put some Metal Gear Solid skins in the game! You know you want to!
I don’t know if this has been answered but quick question:
If players buy this addon, can we freely select, say, Cole or Chimera withot having to be in a certain level or ‘buying’ it in the UC2 store?
Thats good news for those who doesnt have the “Error Syncing Player Data” I cant play U2 nor buy any skins. ND you are losing fans and money because of this error. Please fix this!!!
So. i am a little confused. is this pack awesome, or just Freeking amazing? you didn’t clarify, because in my opinion its just RADICAL!
There is so much you could do with DLC, i just can’t wait for you to pull some new aweseome aout of your sleeves~
The only thing that would make this better is if there were maps that went along with the skins. Imagine a Killzone, inFamous, or Resistance map in Uncharted 2. Still epicly awesome though. How about some Snake and Johny Akiba skins? Or skins of the factions from Warhawk?
Sorry ND I love you and everything,but I dont want to pay just for skins. Now if it was skins and maps in one pack then I would. Also please please PLEASE for all that is holy make a J&D game for PS3. I love uncharted,but I want my J&D.
Arne, this is wonderful news! I feel for you, having to deal with unnecessary comments from ignorant trolls. ND created an excellent game, has and will be supporting it. People here have to understand that development is not cheap, nor are the extensive hours that go into the process and testing. This is a wonderful idea offering skins that you can purchase optionally if you want. They are not overpriced, they are not just fluff, who cares if you can’t purchase individually. You either like them or you don’t, they’re not for everybody. If you appreciate Infamous, Killzone 2, and/or Resistance 2 (which are all excellent games), why not represent! Uncharted is all about the characters, why not add character to multiplayer? Keep up the great work ND. PS Community, some of you need to grow up. Most importantly too, please read the full post before spreading incorrect information in the comments, requiring Arne to correct the incorrect, just because you were too lazy to read the post for a min or two.
