Many of you have been waiting anxiously for news and details about the downloadable content we at Naughty Dog have been working on and we have been saying you’ll hear about it “soon.” Well, soon is finally here.
You may have gotten a glimpse of this initial DLC release as part of some news that made its rounds around the internet yesterday, but that wasn’t the full story.
So, what is going to be available on the PlayStation Network Store on January 28, you ask?
Thanks to our friends at Guerilla Games, Insomniac Games and Sucker Punch Productions, we’ve been able to a pull off something unique within the UNCHARTED 2 competitive multiplayer modes – our first DLC release is the UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves PlayStation Heroes Skin Pack.
The PlayStation Heroes Skin Pack contains seven new skins featuring some key personalities from other major PlayStation first-party titles – Sev and a Helghast soldier from Killzone 2, Nathan Hale and a Chimera from Resistance 2, and Cole (both good and evil variants!) and Zeke from inFAMOUS.
The UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves PlayStation Heroes Skin Pack will be available for purchase globally on the PlayStation Store on January 28, 2010, for $4.99 in the US. If you’re outside of the U.S., check your local Store or announcement for region specific pricing.
We have another release that’s appearing on the PSN Store on January 28 – the UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves single-player demo will be available to all, free of cost. Now you can tell your friends who haven’t played our game yet (slackers!) that they can easily check out UNCHARTED 2 for themselves by downloading the PSN demo starting next Thursday.
As you can see, a little bit of the information you may have spotted yesterday is different and that should let you know that not everything you may have read is accurate and up to date.
There is no doubt that we have some long-term plans for DLC and that we need to share those plans with a lot of people so we can all do our jobs properly. The fact of the matter is that game development, even for downloadable content, is a fluid and sometimes unpredictable process until you get closer to releasing whatever is being worked on. We don’t share our DLC plans publicly from the beginning because things can and will change over the course of development and we absolutely don’t want to create any unrealized expectations for millions of fans of our game.
It’s incredibly important to us at Naughty Dog that our fans have the best and most accurate information about anything we’re up to. There will be more info coming in the months ahead about our future DLC content once we have everything solidly locked down – and, trust me, there are a lot of very cool things in store for UNCHARTED 2.

I had a question,I have a British profile on PSN,and play uncharted 2 online with this profile,and I have a 20$ account card for PSN.can I buy the DLC from uk playstation store or I have to create an american profile to purchase it? thanks for the help.

One suggestion I would have with this incoming DLC, but also something I think should have been there all along:
Let us be able to pick a skin for Co-op Survival. I understand that you couldn’t make it possible with co-op story because of the cutscenes, but having to play as a predetermined character depending on whether I’m player 1, 2, or 3 seems unoriginal.
Just something to consider, and I’m sure I’m not the only person who would enjoy this.
While we’re on the subject for adding First Party Characters into Uncharted 2 as skins, why have we not added characters like Kratos? Or do you guys (ARNE >:3) have plans for that after the game hits stores?
Sorry for the double post, but I forgot to ask this as well. What happened to the bundle for the U.S. version of Eye of Indra? We never got it and some of us want those 2 skins. I have about every skin that came out, and this really makes me angry.
fix the the online first how are we suppose to buy dlc if we cant play online!

Arne you’ve unfortunately completely killed my hopes for this DLC with your comment saying ”No character specific voices” that means that the characters won’t even be themselves at ALL.
I mean I can’t imagine a Chimera from Resistance talking like a HUMAN villain, or Nathan Hale speaking with Drake’s voice when every character outside of this DLC, even Rika from the Eye of Indra DLC has their own independent voice.

to the person who said this wasnt worth being dlc…we already get way more in the way of content and special events in the last 4 months than any other developer ive seen FOR FREE and you whine that you would rather not have dlc just because its only skins and AWESOME skins at that?!?! you dont have to buy them if you dont want to so stop bein a baby please…

I’m a little disappointed that it’s not free, but $5 is very fair. Maybe if you had some way to earn them like you’ve had with the other skins using dollars you earn in game. Perhaps use trophies for each game represented here to unlock that character’s skin? If you have a certain amount of trophies, or you get specific trophies, you get a character’s skin for free! Of course, you would have to have all of the other games for this to work! Anyway, great job!

That is fantastic! this game is just simply amazing, Naughty Dog has proved that they are the greatest developer of all time! and they have amazing skins being released to ratchet or qwark would be pretty cool to though, but in general thanks for the amazing downloadable content over the next couple months! cant wait:)
Sorry to ask more questions arne, but I had a question about Cole’s arms that has been bugging me since first seeing the pictures.
Will the electricity in Cole’s arms flow and move around, or be painted on like a design?
You’ve got characters from all most all the big name PS3 titles, now all that is missing is Sackboy, Kratos and Snake, could maybe have those three games for the second heroes pack?
Sounds great! I’ll be getting it. Although, getting Konami and Kojima Productions to allow Old Snake and Liquid Ocelot skins from Metal Gear Solid 4 would be awesome. It wasn’t a first-party game, but it is an exclusive. Then you would have the complete all-star PlayStation team of heroes versus villains.
This is so exciting. I’m so hooked on this game and to see other games being incorporated into the MP just makes it sweeter. Question, will any of these skins be requiring a Platinum trophy? Or is that just for Marco Polo and Genghis Khan? This is well worth the $4.99 to me, I’ll be using them all lol.

So the UC2 is putting a demo out now…lol bout time. I cant wait for the new skins, I wish they would have more maps. I have been playing since release, and the same maps and games are getting old. If they could through in some new game modes with the maps I’m shure the numbers will increase dramatically.
How does cole use guns? Why aren’t there voices for the characters? It’d be so perfect if it used their voices.
Will you guys be developing these multiplayer skins for the single player mode? or are they multiplayer only?
Also, are they going to have voices at some point or another or is it just what they have now?
Either way, I’m buying this pack as I’ve always been a fan of crossovers.

Pretty surprising, I thought the first DLC would have been the “Eye of Indra” comic/skin pack. Can we expect that to be released globally at all?

What about some costumes that aren’t from other games! In future DLC can we please have some more co-op and compeditive areas and some original costume ideas?

Compeditive: Nepal Warzone, Borneo
Co-op: Convoy
Costumes:Doughnut Chloe

2 those of u that say that this dlc is bs… just enjoy what they have given us, i agree to some point on what u are saying. I would like to see new maps and game modes as well. If you read what was written you would know that these are are being released in the future. I just want to end with just 1 day till the skin pack dlc is out.
hi, I wanted to say how much I love your game! I am still having a lot of fun after getting my first Platinum Trophy. So DLC is more than welcome XD
I had a crazy idea the other day about possible future “skins” while watching your company video. I think a Pogo skin would be hilarious and nifty. It could be like the Oddjob of GoldenEye 007, a smaller harder target to hit. Pogo could be enhanced with faster mobility, but limited to handguns (held in the mouth), and the hand to fang combat could be handled like the Tetram (trying to punch Pogo automatically results in having it go for your throat :p)
A tombstone might also be more tasteful than a dead company mascot should Pogo get shot ;p
I can’t wait to play more adventures of Drake–or even Drake (or Elena) Jr!! XD

Will the skins be available right away after purchase in the skin select or will they be associated with a certain rank within the uncharted store? Basically, like many other level 57 or higher players who have purchased everything available, we have a crap load of money but nothing to spend it on. What about all of the other millions of dollars that are burning a hole in my pocket. Also, are there any other plans for adding more purchasable content within the game? Thanks for the great game!!! Arne, I agree as well. That there should be some sort of in game download for the money higher lvls have just siting there doing nothing. Why have us continue geting money if it’s good for nothing other than saying ur on top in the leader board, that’s pointless. Some new boosters or even upgradeable weapons. Maybe something for the lvl 60’s like have prestige lvls. If you talk to most 60s they will tell you that it is boring and most of them quit once they hit that point. I know you wanna gain customers not lose them. If there was a prestige lvl system after 60 I know damn well ppl will stay just to say they went the mile with UC2. Just a few ideas I am throwing out there for naughty dog to think about.
How about an MLB 09-10 The Show Skin. Its a Sony first party and im sure some U2 fans are baseball fans
wow these skins look great. I just recently beat uncharted 2 and i have to say that naughty dog, you did an absolutly amazing job. I was actually biting my nails at some scenes, and i usually only bite my nails during intense movies! This game just blew me away, and i wanted to thank you for this outstanding series and hope that it continues.
I love this and I might actually buy it for killzone and infamous. But would be possible to include Kratos from god of war? I believe that many more people would buy the skin pack with Kratos included. So if I could get an answer that would be Great

Naughty Dog, can you contact Square Enix and ask them for their Final Fantasy characters to be included in multiplayer aswell, e.g FF13: Lightning.
Skins come out tomorrow… Im staying up late just so i can say i was one of the first ones to get it, by the way does any one know the exact time they will be able to be purchased. Will it be eastern or western?
I don’t know what this is with theses “skin packs” these days. A few years back skins were a natural part of the game. Just look at games like Timesplitters (with 100+ Multiplayer skins all with own voiceover) or Tekken 3/4/5. But todays we have games like U2 or Street Fighter 4 which are totally great games but let us pay for silly costumes. They must be kidding. And the most important thing is, that the most content allready existet at release date. Just look one of the making of videos on the U2 disk. There you can see the black guy with the yellow shirt (from the recent 3 skin pack) running around on a developers screen.
Espacially these skins are just a crossover advertisement for other Sony exclusive titles. This download should have be financed by Sony and so had to be for free at all.
But all that ranting aside I am really looking forward for misson and map DLCs and I am more than willing to pay for that REAL CONTENT.
