Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Multiplayer Demo Available Now

Today DICE is very excited to release the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Multiplayer Demo on the PlayStation Store. Before getting into some details about the demo the team at DICE wanted to thank SCEA for helping us get the demo out a week early for North America. So, thank you to all those at SCEA that helped make this happen, you guys seriously rock!

The PS3 community has played a special role in the pending success of BFBC2, so thanks to all the participants we had in the beta last November. From that beta, more than 130 gameplay changes were made and almost all of them made it into this demo. As a gift for your support in the beta, all participants will be awarded another point in the BF Veteran rank that will apply to special perks in the final game.

In the demo you’ll be playing the “Rush” game mode on a very snowy map set in Port Valdez of Alaska with the US defending Russian attacks. As an attacker, you start the map as the Russian Army parachuting from the back of Russian An-124 variants, pushing your way through four bases defended by the US Army to win the battle. Both teams will have plenty of vehicles to man from ATVs, tanks, jeeps, and helicopters for an insane dose of Battlefield tactical vehicle-based warfare like no other. Now go enjoy the demo! :-)

Loved the beta on PS3! I got the beta for PC but its not so great.. having some issues/glitches, but I will keep up the good work

I hate Battlefield games, not because of the gameplay but because I can’t read the texts on my SDTV.

*but keep up the good work… and issue with the PC betas is concerning with smoke and explosions the video gets all weird like looking at stuff with thermal goggles

BTW, about the Veteran Rankings, a few questions:

1. Will the EA/DICE servers auto-detect that we were in the Beta?

2. When will the 1943 fix for Veteran Rankings come?

  Try spawning at your base and not on a squadmate at first to get used to things. Also, the final game will have 4 gamemodes that have very different pacing and might suit you better. How you give it another try, if not I respect that too. :-)

Battlefield: Bad Company was one of the best multiplatform games I have played, the online was tremendously satisfying (except for the fact that it was imposiible to get the Platinum trophy). The Frostbite engine in a word: rocks. I look very forward to Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

Downloaded from the EU store this morning and played off and on all day and all I can say is congratulations to Dice. This is without a doubt a serious contender for MW2’s crown of best multiplayer game and in my opinion it’s has already surpassed it in every way.

I love the game. I love the Battlefield series so much with a few exceptions. BF2 Modern Combat on the PS2 was garbage and BF Heroes is…okay.

Otherwise, everything from 1942 to 2142 to 1943 is just great top notch work and i’ve put tons of hours into all.

BC2 is like BF2 and 2142’s best elements combined with some hints of Call of Duty. Day 1 buy.

Will this game be in 1080p? The beta was fun, but the look seemed outdated. If yah are really tryin to beat cod, then up the resolution. If yah wanted to keep the resolution down just for the beta and demo, then I understand.

  No, some claim it looks better pointing at it being a matter of opinion. Plus a lot can really depend on your TV and how it\’s connected as well.

I doubt the 360 has better graphics then the PS3 version. DICE makes all their games on PS3 first then ports it to 360, so I seriously doubt it.

Also I was in the beta and LOVED the way players would die. It was the best rag doll effect I have seen in a game, better then Killzone. Better as in more realistic. So what the hell happened to that!? Why did you guys put in canned deaths now?.. They suck! They glitch out a lot and a lot of the time you cant even tell if the guy is dead yet since he takes like 3 seconds to fall to the ground. Please change it back.

No, just a friend of mine told me the textures were higher on the PS3. And like me, he owns both consoles (he owns the Wii too). So it isn’t “fanboy tripe”. I’ve been around long enough to avoid that.

I just want to know if the PS3 is on equal grounds with the other platforms. At this point in the generation there is no need for all of them not to be equal, yet we still see the PS3 get shafted.

Dude, if the Beta Veteran status perk is just the 1943 unlock and nothing exclusive to the beta testers, I’m going to :(.

Considering you can just get veteran status from Battlefield Heros (or BC1, or when it’s fixed 1943) easy.

I better be getting a hard-hat for being in the beta as my helmet.

Also you guys should have a “instant 10.2K kills and all awards + 20 squad spawns on you” award weekend before BC2 comes out so everyone plays BC1 and can get the platinum from it. It’s impossible otherwise. I hope you guys learned your lesson on that.

Great job guys,loving it so far,few questions though,where is the squad rush mode 4 preordering?,maybe i misunderstood that,not sure.also can we get a timer or something to let us know how long we got to defend/attack an area?please!!Also,while in squad before we start a game can we have the option to look at stats and weapons and gadgets my friends and i like to compare things like that,just a thought.keep up the great work though!!!

Sorry DICE, but I lost all respect for you guys when you didn’t Patch the original Bad Company to fix the trophy/medal glitch that was preventing people from getting the platinum in that game.

WOW… This game is CRAPTASTIC. I just deleted the [DELETED] out of the demo from my HDD. The controls are AWFUL, there are major popup problems, and WTF is up with all the clipping?!? I WAS very excited about this game, but not anymore. DEFINITE NO-BUY. Looks like Modern Warfare 2 still holds the trophy. DICE = FAIL.

WOW..I love this game! I don’s like MW2 so much, this is a sandbox game and feels much more real to me. For me: MUST BUY!

(Allready pre-ordered on steam for my laptop but runs much better on my PS3 so I’m gonna buy this game twice! I also like the fact that the game is the same for everyone on a console.)

i am hyping my 2 playstation friends for this game and im so happy that the demo did not dissappoint them. as soon as the demo came out you guaranteed 3 more buyers :D

i love when developers release demos and arent afraid that people wont like their game. it shows supreme confidence.

  We are looking into this and how to best do it. For BF2142 we had knife the Devs weekends that was loads of fun. We\’d like to mirror that in some way on PS3 for BFBC2. :-)

GvD – The Beta was great and I’m really looking forward to playing the demo tonight and the full game. But I have two questions if you end up seeing this:

1)Can you tell us what we can expect with the EA/Dr. Pepper tie in? I’ve been collecting them just so I can get whatever is offered for BC2.
2)Is there any chance we could get a double or triple xp week for BC1? It would be nice to have that incentive to draw people back into the first game before 2 comes out.

Also, I know you’ve commented elsewhere that co-op is probably down the line, but it would seem obvious that a 4 player co-op playing each of the main chars in the main campaign should be added. Just scale the difficulty accordingly.

This demo has renewed my love for online FPS games!!

That lovin’ feelin’ has been gone since the days of Battlefield 2 on the PC, but BF:BC2 has brought it all back!!

Visuals are terrific. Sound is amazing. Pacing is perfect.

I love the new “spotting the enemy” feature (by hitting the SELECT button). And I especially love the audio when voices call out the presence of a sniper, etc.

The feeling of immersion is top-notch.

My only complaint: I’m still struggling with the non-standard controls.

But I’ll get used to those soon enough.

March 2nd can’t come soon enough.

Hey GVD,

I own and have been to the top in 1943, I own 1942 and Redux on PC, I played BFBC1 To completeion and I was in your BFBC2 Beta as well as your Battlefield Heroes Beta and Im an active member who plays online oh and I even used to play Modern Combat on PS2…..

I havent seen any of these unlocks for being a vetran what gives?

I must say I love this Demo even more then the Beta! I runs smoother, and the graphics are much more detailed this time around.

Also I loved that I killed that pest of an Apachie chopper last night with a AEK-97 UGL round to the top rotor blade at like 200 yards.

Random shot on my part, but totally worth it! I was unable to do it a second time. but the Mini gun runs I did with my squad the next round made up for it! That thing is a beast!

BTW: This game has the best looking tracer effects ever!
