PSPgo In-game Promotion Code Available Now

Kristin Neirinckx's Avatar Posted by Marketing Manager, PSP

Hi everyone! For those of you who still have yet to pick up your very own PSPgo system, there’s no better time than now. As most of you already know, PSPgo is the first all-digital, full-game handheld entertainment system on the market to date. Since its launch last October, we’ve seen a tremendous response to the newest member of the PSP family. If you’re ready to take the next step in portable entertainment, you’re in luck!

For a limited time, we’re offering an incredible value to all of you PSP newbies. Now through Sunday, March 21, 2010, U.S. and Canadian consumers who purchase a new PSPgo system can download one of our top PSP titles from the PlayStation Store at no additional cost. How you ask? In short, this limited-time offer combines the PSPgo system with a PSPgo In-game Promotion Code, which entitles you to a digital download of either LittleBigPlanet (PSP) or Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines.

PSPgo Voucher Code

The PSPgo In-game Promotion Code redemption process is simple:

  • You must purchase a new PSPgo unit between Thursday, February 18, 2010 and Sunday, March 21, 2010.
  • To redeem code, you must create a PlayStation Network account or login to your existing account directly from your PSPgo system.
  • SCEA will then e-mail a code (using the email associated with one’s PSN account), which is good for one qualifying PlayStation Network account to download the game for the PSPgo system, via the PlayStation Store.
  • All in-game promotion codes must be redeemed by March 31, 2010.

With more than 300 downloadable games, and more than 2,700 movies and 17,000 TV episodes available on the PlayStation Network (video download service available to U.S. residents only), PSPgo is the ultimate handheld entertainment system designed for the digital lifestyle. Again, the PSPgo In-game Promotion Code will only be available for a short while so be sure you take advantage of this limited offer soon. As always, we look forward to hearing your feedback. Enjoy!

I also got my PSPGo on day 1. Man this just feels wrong that we also don’t get a code for a game. And us early peeps paid top dollar to. I know this is how things work in the electronics world but I still feel wronged for some reason.

……what about people bought it in December!?!?! Why Sony…. Why!!!!! I’ve paid over 200 bucks now this!!!!!! In going to sell this price of junk. Crap like this is what makes people pirate games… Why?? Why do you think people pirate games Sony?? Because you screw your paying customers. Even the Uk got free games but not the US!?!? At least I’ll be able to play used games now. Crisis core here we come!!!!!!!

Seriously Sony, screw you. First I buy your crappy Go on launch day and get nothing with it, then half of the games I buy from your stupid service are corrupted versions of the UMD games, and now this?

Like I said, screw you.

I bought a white PSPGo on January 26. I’m returning it today to exchange for a black one before my 30 days runs out. At least I should qualify for a free game now.

Day 1 GO buyer incentive: UMD Transfer service to come soon.
(Denounced, as to much of a legal headache, officially dumped shortly later.)

Xmas buyer incentive: Many stores had a bunch of copies they couldn’t get rid of at the $249.99 price, so they started including 2 free games from a selection that would vary from store to store.
I got my go from Bestbuy, who gave Gran Tourismo and Patapon 2 download cards with purchase. (Though EB/Gamestop was offering ANY 2 of your choice I still dont like them as a company)

Middle of nowhere buyer incentive: Download of LBP or AC:Bloodlines.

If it wasnt for the people in here complaining about getting nothing and having bought their PspNo’s just recently…I would be under the impression that the average consumer finds the $249.99 excessive and avoids the purchase until something is added to balance it out as it were.

Hmm, must just be me seeing this trend…*rolls eyes*

I was considering to buy psp go when the price goes down but it never happen. I end up buying iphone instead. I have a psp2000 so, I think it’s so stupid to upgrade to pspgo if you can’t covert your umd to digital copy
If you haven’t got psp before, i think it’s worth buying one.

I purchased my PSP go on 2/18 and logged into my PSN account for the first time on 2/19. I still haven’t received an email with a code. Any idea when these will be sent out?

I would have liked a free game, but I don’t regret buying a PSP Go in January, I love it. I’m new to PSP so I own no UMD’s. There are a few UMD games I’d like to play but it’s not killing me to miss them.

PSP isn’t just my portable gaming system, it’s my portable entertainment system. I am using it for music right now and I watch just as many movies on it as I do play games.

No regrets here, I’m a satisfied customer.

@ 155
Truthfully, I would have been a satisfied customer aswell.
But you get to watch video on yours, I along with with everone else in Canada cant.

So for us, its the game content that we have to rely on and when its sub-par in comparison to the UMD content for the 3000 model…the GO, is a no no.

If Sony stepped up to the plate, stopped doing things half assed and brought the video store to Canada many people who feel the GO is nothing but a waste of mony would change their tunes.

Along with getting rid of the absurd PspGo’s tax.
(Digital content should NEVER be as expensive or worse MORE expensive than its physical counterpart.)

@157 Psikorps
Actually the way I get my movies you can too, I buy DVDs and rip them, it’s completely legal. The PSN store has too much DRM restriction for me to even consider it. I try to go for the Blu-ray+DVD combos when I can. Message me if you want the name of the ripping program I use.

Hope this doesn’t get deleted, as what I do is completely legal, I don’t share my rips.

I’km sorry but this deal still doesn’t make me want the go. The pricing strategy is insane. For 250 it comes out 10 like 275 with tax, that’s practically a new ps3. Also can’t play games I already own for my 3000 can’t convert them to digital and the games are waaaay too expensive. Resistance is 39.99 I bought the umd off amazon for $12. Gta chinatown just hit $29.99 I believe I paid $14 on amazon. Why would I purchase a overpriced system which offers less choices more cost and far less value for resale/trade like none. The pspgo should be at most the same price as a 3000 and the games should all be half the retail version.

improperlyaged said:

February 20th, 7:35 am

I’m sorry but I will never support the go. I’ll just wait for the psp2. Sony is obviously ripping off customers. They strumg us along leading us to believe we would be able to convert old games to digital copies. Nope never happened. Absoloutely no backwards compatibility. Pricing strategy makes no sense. Support is near non existent. And also they admitted that other than the sliding mechanism and physical state memory all the parts were cheaper than the 3000. This is an epic fail worse even than game gear or atari jaguar. Worse even than windows vista. Hell this might be worse than buying a new toyota.

Wow I truly feel betrayed by Sony on this one, I finally bought the pspgo not once but twice in the last 2 weeks (one for my girlfriend then one for me a week later). I consider my self extremely brand loyal to PlayStation and Sony and this is how they thank me. After 2 PlayStation, a PlayStation 2, 2 psp (a 1000 and a 2000), 2 pspgo, and 2 PlayStation 3 including one after a 20 hour wait outside of Sony on launch day…. not to mention the tons of umd games and movies and unusable accessories. psp division really knows how to treat their loyal fan base, oh well that’s what I get for choosing Sony.

so when are they sending out these codes? i actually got one last night on a whim (before i even knew of this) and logged in shortly thereafter to get my new system up to par with the old, and i’m seeing no codes in my e-mail

dopplegl said:

February 20th, 8:33 am

Had I known this was going to happen, I would have waited two more days to buy my PSPgo instead of getting it on Tuesday.

I must say, while I understand the point behind this, it’s a bit of a slap in the face to those who invested in and supported the system before Sony decided to throw free stuff in with it.

What about the people who a PSP GO when it first go released?

Psikorps said:

February 20th, 9:25 am

@ 161
The first time you log into the store, or even just PSN the serial # of the console is recorded (along with the PSN ID or email address).

Thats why they say “buy a new” as old ones have more than likely been registered as “sold” already.

This also lets Sony go through the serials to know what stores are selling the most consoles.

Dardantuan said:

Thank you so much for hooking us early adopters out. I am already feeling major buyers remorse for buying the Go a few months ago, and this does not help at all.

Kopek86 said:

Sony always reads the comments, that’s the reason i love Apple and Sony, both companies actually listen to their customer base and take the advice in stride. Problem is, Sony hasn’t made any responses to this entire comment base because 98% of the comments are negative. Sony Reps are very careful about what they encourage and don’t. The other issue is im fairly certain they have a realization at this point that the entire PSP community is either “satisfied” or “PISSED”, none of which are “Thrilled” So theyre internal network of busy-bee’s is probably considering some sort of assistance to boost sales of games, or theyre putting a rush on the PSP2 which will cause it to come out early and unfinished and terrible.

Sony, take our advice, come up with a solution for the PSPgo take make the loyal customers happy, and imagine the excitement that will trickle down to all of our friends and family.

Biggest requests…

#1. Bring video content to Canada. (If Micro$oft can do it, you can)

#2. Get developers onboard with digital distribution. (You made it mandatory to have developers have trophies in all games, you can make it mandatory to have a digital distribution of games aswell)

#3. Dont charge more money for a digital title than the physical UMD costs. (We know you and developers save money going digital, dont try and milk us for more like some convenience store selling big store items for 2x as much because its convenient.)

#4. Reply to people on the blog, half the people or more get upset because they feel like no one is listening, or simply does not care. (Truth is, you dont have to care your a business. However, when you turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to a fan base in need of support and answers…your hurting your chances at retaining that fan base)

#5. The PSN Store update, Grace Chen does the post, but VERY rarely replies. Where the euro store blog is lit up like a xmas tree sometimes with posts answering questions, giving tips and more.
If there are legitimate questions being asked, in a calm and reasonable manner they should be answered.

Thanks Sony for another kick in the face!

Not only did i not get that Rockband voucher with my purchase of a psp go, but because we have been supporting you WE GET NOTHING!

Really? i mean not only is this something that EVERY OTHER COUNTRY got when the psp go released, but now since it so late that people already own some psp go! they get NOTHING/ZERO “Thanks” for support you!

Syndicate3 said:

February 20th, 10:30 am

Lol not that you guys will probably read this, but this is beyond ridiculous. SCEA continues to give us fans and customers NO REASON to trust them. One step forward, two steps back. This should be the new slogan for the PSP.

TACMON said:

February 20th, 10:39 am

This is a little redundant isn’t it?

What’s stopping people (Who already got a PSPgo long ago, or just don’t want one) from buying a PSPgo, using it to get the code and redeem it to their account, and then return the system?

They get a free game without the cost that way, don’t they? Maybe it’s more hassle than it’s worth though.

Im not falling for it. I’ll Pass on this deal. I’ll wait until E3 to see if sony brings out the psp 4000 or psp go 2…I hope! It should definitely come with a built-in camera. I always laugh when my friend shows me his psp and there is a camera icon in the xmb.

Edward927 said:

I’m not saying that everyone who had bought a pspGo already should get a free game but i’d be nice if we got something like small discounts.

Korlithiel said:

February 20th, 1:09 pm

So instead of a price drop, or showing some support for those who already purchased the console, there is a promo offer for those who would be interested in buying the PSP Go as a media player/those late and still trickling in to purchase it.

Anathallo said:

SolaceIX said:

Shafted again! I got mine February 1st. If I had only waited 17 days I could have something more than a crappy version of Rock Band! Come on Sony. Try doing something for everyone! Because so far, all my PSPGO (and I’m sure other’s) is being used for is an MP3 player.

polishhammer85 said:

Luckily I waited to buy my PSP Go until Thursday the 18th. I was gonna buy it on Wednesday, but thank god I didn’t. However, I signed into my account almost an hour ago and still haven’t received the e-mail with the voucher code. I just e-mailed sony about it, and if I don’t end up getting the free game I’m gonna be pissed. It’s also really lame that ppl who didn’t wait until the 18th don’t get the game. Sony does not know how to please it’s loyal customers at all.

dpunkjrocksm said:

February 20th, 2:21 pm

I bought it day one also, but i also got it at Target where i work. So right before my 90 day receipt expired, i exchanged it for a new one because pixels were out on the screen. I think i just might return and buy a new one to get the offer.

BigKayDaddy said:

February 20th, 2:33 pm

So, is there a plan for existing PSPgo owners? Do we get anything for buying the product early?

I’m pretty disappointed in SONY this time around. I got the PSPgo on the day of release and all it came with was a gimped Rock Band game. Now, there are two fantastic choices to choose from and the loyal owners get shafted.

Rez_Delnava said:

February 20th, 3:13 pm

So when do we get these codes? I bought mine yesterday, and logged in to PSN on my Go last night, but have yet to see any email, not even the ‘thanks for buying our product’ message.

BorisTI said:

February 20th, 3:46 pm

Seriously? I bought mine in January and got a stick in the eye with it. I got a demo for patapon 2, which I already played on my 2000… In the UK they got the full game of Gran Turismo. In the US, they were offering for a time Rock Band lite, 4 songs. Was there any reward for early adopters in the US at all?

On a side note, I do like the system, but this is just insulting.

PSPGo Pro’s:
1. All digital.
2. Small (portable).
3. Good Sound.
4. Built in 16gig memory with more space if needed.

PSPGo Con’s:
1. Expensive, only $50 more and ya get a new PS3 Slim in most cases.
2. Less games than any other PSP system.
3. Many of PSP’s best and greatest have no digital version to play.
4. Many new games are not releasing digital download at the same time the UMD version is released, you might wait weeks or more.
5. The “PSPGo Tax”, digital download versions have no packaging, manuals, no disk…ect, you would think those savings would be passed along to the consumer…think again.
Many games (more than 75% of the current downloadable titles) cost MORE than their physical UMD counterparts.
6. Almost forgot, for the people out there who like to trade in their games when they have finished them… digital download and your stuck with it for good.

All in all, you pay more & get less.
PSPGo : good in theory, outstanding if supported properly.
Until then the 3000 is king.

Psikorps said:

I am Ridiculously Upset by this, for one I had gotten the psp go on day one, I have a legit european psn account ( which I didn’t get a code / free games ), Now I miss out on this program because I had gotten it on day one.

I am also someone who upgraded my 1000 to the go so I have no ability to use those UMD’s also alot of the new games either coming out or that just came out again I cant play because of not being on either the PSN or no ability to transfer them.

Sony I suggest you really start either supporting your product better or abandon old tech for the new, either way, I am more than feeling screwed towards getting a PSP Go on launch. Both not being in Europe at the time of connecting to the PSN for the first time and now not getting the code for a new Go.
