Hi everyone, in our continued effort to provide the best, most comprehensive entertainment experience possible, we’ll be adding a few new features to PlayStation 3 (PS3) via the latest system software update, which is a mandatory update and will be available shortly. Most notably, you’ll see some new sorting options within Trophies that make it easier to claim bragging rights among your friends on PlayStation Network.
- Trophy enhancements –- Now you can more easily sort trophies in the [Trophy Collection] and [Comparing Trophy] sections. Sorting can be done with [Trophy Collection] in the [Game Category] and also when comparing trophies with your friends in the [Friend Category]
- Trophy Folder (Title List) can be sorted by game name/ by title according to the date in which you earned your last trophy (ascending/descending)
- Add-on list (Group list) can be sorted by original/the date in which you earned your last trophy (ascending/descending)
- Trophy list can be sorted by original/trophy name/grade/date of obtaining the trophy (ascending/descending)
In addition, this update preps the PS3 system for some upcoming new features, including 3D stereoscopic gaming, which is coming soon to PS3, in time for the launch of Sony’s 3D BRAVIA TVs.

LIST OF UPDATE NEEDED
1. Playlist music should be playing while playing the game
2. On YouTube videos should be able added to Quick list
3. Mozilla Firefox should be accessible
I know we fans of PS3 demand too much features on a game console. We totally forgot this is not a PC but we showing love by appreciating Game Democracy given to us by Sony PlayStation.
Sony why do you all shoot yourselves in the freakin foot what’s the point of Playstation blogshare if you’re not listening to your consumers i’m going to go out on a limp to guess you all are saving the goodies for e3 if not by then you all fail ultimately. I really hope you all are listening to your consumers though, i know i’m probably going on a dream. I mean it’s not hard guys listen,Listen,LISTEN to your consumers.

I’m not sure what are you all intentions to win the console war but i am reminded daily as i log into the psn and experience limited functionality with my ps3 while attempting certain task, which in my book is a fail.
Least you can still play ps1 games but i want ps2 also… D:
Please tell me what I’m doing wrong. The update keeps stopping at 12%. I have stopped it and restarted my system and unplugged my system and still it’s stopping at 12%. My patience is waning and all I wanted to do was play a little MW2. FML.
this is for comment 115 , johnson7813 or whatever .. 1st of all , i’m a commander in the homelings . we have have over 400 members and are based in home. we have 25 motherships (clubhouses)on home. so , for you to say no one uses home is ridiculous.i can understand wanting a better update but why would you want them to remove home ? you don’t HAVE to go on home , for that matter you don’t even have to install home on your ps3 .so stick to what you know ,thank you.
When I saw there was an “UPDATE REQUIRED” I thought to myself YES! they fixed the browser problems and updated Flash, but it turns out to be something that no one even requested…
I still have to wonder why Sony doesn’ want us to sort our downloaded games or demos by there title name… WHY!?!? Are they affraid we will enjoy sorting our games so much that we might forget to buy more games? Why bother asking us what features we want if you just ignore our requests… Oh well. At least they didn’ remove a feature I suppose.

i got the new ps3 and it does not play ps2 games im kindof mad because its a waste because i sold the ps2 to get the ps3

@Daxter1100 otherOS let computer students like myself and anyone who wanted to install Linux on the PS3. Linux is an operating system, like windows or macos etc. Only it takes a lot of effort and some computer knowledge to get things going. Its sort of a free build your own style of operating system thing for people who are geeks or who work with computers or like to do computer stuff as a hobby. Students who want to program could do so on it, and could even program cell code to get them ready to help make great games for PS3. Thats otherOS in a nutshell. So now the whole thing is Sony took it away from some good people who wanted to help make PS3 games potentially. They made us choose. If we kept the Linux which I did, you can’t upgrade the PS3 and it stops playing new games and movies, and it no longer plays on PSN. I am locked out of the downloaded games I bought on PSN and cannot redownload them. Basically my PS3 is half broken now…
unless it has something to do with bringing back Other Os i’m not satisfied.
And just wait, 3.50 or 4.00 will probably be no more free PSN for anyone. They are already discussing the possibility you can find stories about it online.

I can not nor Do I have a use for 3D TV due to a medical condition .
My medical Condition prevents me from Using 3d Soft ware.

No matter what is done, there is just no pleasing some people.
Adding more trophy options, when really… all I want is less.
1. Allow me to delete trophy records for games I don’t want. Treat it like save data.
2. Allow me to TURN OFF TROPHY NOTIFICATIONS. I’m just getting more and more pissed the more times I have to see and hear them. It’s totally ruining every game for me (except the ones that didn’t have them… or the ones that aren’t on PS3)

sony is pissing me off more and more, i hope they make some actual improvements with future updates instead of adding worthless features that barely anyone uses or cares about and forcing them to update for an hour just to get back online again. and i just did this a few weeks ago to disable a feature i don’t even use.

A couple of people come on the blog and say they don’t like this update, suddenly you say, “NO ONE WANTS THIS!!” Yet you ignore the people who are saying good job to Sony. There are over 33 million PS3 users. Are you trying to tell me that no one out of 33 million people are happy about this update?
I for one like this update, as I was just thinking about this the other day. I love trophies, and tend to compete sometimes with my friends with trophies. This sorting feature is awesome.

Thanks for the whole convenient trophy update. But dont you think also should’ve included Adobe flash player 10 you know that pointless little update that you NEED so you that you may use the single greatest feature you can only use on the browser? I will let you figure out what that feature is on your own SONY. Oh and you think in update 3.40, or 3.31 or whatever it’ll be called, you can give the PS3 a CHEEZ-IT despenser maybe a slot you could put bread in than after like two and a half minutes later it pops out toast? please? See, the thing you have to understand about quotes, is that they are easily taken out of context. Peter Dille is saying that they are considering charging for a PSN service. He is not saying that they will replace the free service with a paid service.
So unless you provide me with a quote saying, “We want to make PSN a premium-paid service. No more free PSN!” Then I will continue to debate this with you. ;) lol.

I definitely agree with comment 130, one thing i am looking forward to most is listening to music during gameplay, including online, that would be awsome… Another huge thing is flash, i would like to listen to music from my myspace etc… i think we also need more things to do like more and improved visual players for music, more things to do with our pictures, definitely more friend capacity.. I hope to see more physical updates in the future, Thanks Sony Playstation, yr #1 Just need more reasons to be called it.

I highly dout there were many people clamouring for a way to a organize your Trophies or 3D TV support (at this point in time anyway)
I think they should at least update a few things that you have been able to get on the 360 since 2006 though! The ability to send and receive voice mails to other users and being able to play music from the hdd during anything. These options were sort of expected for me when I upgraded from my 360… also, why is there no way to sort our downloaded games by their title!?! That seems really weird to me to be honest.

3D TV? Come one. U R just trying 2 promote Ur TV’s.
The trophy stuff…., well, not even necesary.
U should:
1.- Bring back Other OS support.
2.- Maybe, it would be nice play Ur own music while U play (360 users can & I really love that)
3.- MKV playback.
Some people asked for NTFS support, but that’s never going 2 happen. NTFS means Microsoft. Microsoft won´t do a damn thing 4 the PS3.
Oh, I’m also with WorstCompanyEver (@176). With Other OS U could have a Good (Very Good) Internet Browser. Much better than PS3 browser. But it seems no one cares about that. No one cares that Sony cut the PS3 for “Security concerns”.
BTW, I haven’t lost my time with the PS3 blog givin ideas, cuz everyone should realize that U don’t even listen to them.

until Sony removed other OS I was very happy with the PS3, now I can only play games and use a browser with pathetic javascript support. Sony made a poor decision on this day. this policy cannot be justified by frivolous claims of protecting consumers from piracy. it is clear that Sony have no altruism or interest in protecting consumers; as was exhibited in the decision to remove Other OS support. Sony have burnt any bridges made by offering this feature and gone on to destroy confidence in you OWN consumers by neglecting to offer a feature advertised on the box, this treads a fine legal line and Sony should reinstate the feature to avoid any further deleterious PR.
Every improvement is a good thing. I like the sound of this update. I couldn’t care less about 3D for games, but the Trophy stuff sounds great!
Super Cool about the 3d gaming but give us more avatars please!! I’d like to be able to design my own!!!!
