Tomorrow, May 4th, will be an onslaught of Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer goodness on the PlayStation Network!
First and foremost, the first downloadable content for Modern Warfare 2 — The Stimulus Package — will hit the PSN Store for $14.99 and bring with it five new maps to the multiplayer of MW2. Included in those five new maps are two classic Call of Duty 4 maps that we all know and love, and three completely new locations that offer a variety of unique locations for your favorite gametypes. The Stimulus Package includes:
Bailout – An American apartment complex that is amazing for objective gametypes, especially Capture the Flag, but one of those maps that works well regardless of what type of game you’re playing it on. Its long sightlines — like sniping from a blown-out wall of a second-story apartment suite — give it some nice spots for long-range sniping but also has plenty of flanking routes through the bullet-riddled gym, hallways, lobbies, and interconnecting units.
Salvage – A snowy junkyard covered in debris, crushed cars, and my favorite aspect — no place to hide (well, maybe one, but hiding in the dog house isn’t going to win you the game). This aspect of beautiful but simplistic design is what makes Salvage my new favorite map for Hardcore Team Deathmatch; it forces you to rely on your speed, accuracy, and skill. It’s all about offensive, sorry campers! This map is about getting in and STAYING in the fight.
Storm – A rainy warehouse district on the outskirts of a looming thunderstorm with booming lightning and rolling thunder. A massive interconnected warehouse with overhead walkways and plenty of machinery for cover makes this great for big team games. With plenty of surrounding outdoors areas for flanking or cutting through the connected buildings, this is a map that benefits from two teams working together to control their area and lock down domination points. This map has a great atmosphere and always results in some insane HQ games.
Crash – A war-torn urban environment with a crashed helicopter surrounded by several great vantage points. Whether you’re taking pop shots from the three-story building overlooking the map, or covering the center objective point from the second story of the appropriately named “blue room” windows, Crash is the first fan-favorite map to make a return from Call of Duty 4, and is one those multiplayer locations that is perfectly balanced regardless of the gametype you throw on it. Team Deathmatch is king on Crash for me personally and we’ve maintained every cover, sniper vantage, and perfect ‘nade spot you’ve grown to love, but have also filled the map out with even more detail.
Overgrown – A massive and open village divided down the center by a dried-up creekbed. Overgrown is a snipers paradise with its high grass, super-long sightlines, and earns its cred as one of our largest multiplayer maps. It’s back by popular demand from the community, and was one of my personal favorite maps of all time from Call of Duty 4. It’s been updated with some new lightning and atmospheric changes, yet maintains its trademark flow and appeal for big team games.
When you jump online to enjoy the new maps, you’re also going to be greeted with a few new additions to the playlists structure in multiplayer. You’ll notice two new playlists added to the bottom of the list: Stimulus & Stimulus Hardcore. These two playlists will allow you to play your favorite gametypes on ONLY the new maps. That way you get to experience them as much as you like.
Stimulus – This playlist will include all gametypes for 8-12 players and rotating through ONLY the new Stimulus Maps.
Stimulus Hardcore – This playlist will include Hardcore Ricochet Team Deathmatch, Hardcore Ricochet HQ Pro, Hardcore Ricochet Search and Destroy for 8-12 players and rotating through ONLY the new Stimulus Maps.
While these two playlists are reserved for those who download The Stimulus Package, the same day we’ll also be introducing an all new playlist for ALL Modern Warfare 2 players.
Team Tactical – 6-8 Players playing small team based games with Team Deathmatch, Domination, Capture the Flag, and Demolition. (First Person viewpoint)
This playlist is being added by HUGE demand from the community on our forums, Twitter, and other messages you’ve sent in to us; in addition to another requested change of adding the Ranger maps (Terminal, Skidrow, Highrise, Invasion) to the HC HQ Pro playlist.
When I said onslaught, I MEANT onslaught!
That’s not even all. When all these updates hit tomorrow on May 4th, we’ll also be flipping the Double XP switch for the first time, ON ALL PLAYLISTS, FOR ALL PLAYERS! So when you jump online you’ll be earning twice as many XP for your kills and objectives to help you finish off that Prestige you’ve been working on or, for all you level 70s, the deciding factor to take the leap into the next Prestige.
Tomorrow is all about adding even more mileage to your Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer, giving you all new locations to play, new playlists to play them on, and Double XP to make it all that much sweeter. I look forward to seeing all of you online!

overall really disappointed with the mappack. not a big fan of either of the MW 1 maps they chose and the new maps are average and dont really hold up to the original map content. fortunately infinity ward isnt making black ops and they left it to Treyarch whom seems to satisfy the cod fans way more with mappack and zombies!!!

if your having trouble adding funds to your wallet and have changed your details to your system, (AND YOU GET A MESSAGE SAYING CANT UPDATE CHANGES CHECK YOUR INFO AND CALL PS3 ASSISTANCE), and cant update them, all you have to do is UNPLUG the PS3 AND TURN OFF/UNPLUG THE POWER to your ROUTER, then replug the ps3 and turn it on, then turn the power back onto the router. it should have reset your network setting to the ps3, it worked for me.

Can some-one help, it is letting me download the map packs and stuff but then it wont let me go on to to the map packs,i think it is saying some crap about bles- somthing can someone explain what i have to do to try get on my map packs?
I am extremely pissed!!!! I bought the stimulus map pack yesterday. The issue is that I only play 3rd person,and i dont see an option for that,and why dont we who only play 3rd person get to utilize the other maps? Please tell me why!!!
have you downloaded the right one? on the network there are 7 to download, have you read the warning that you need to download the one that says e.g. bles 0083 or bles 0095, it says on the ps network for the download and says on the bottom of the spine of your game box. find which one matches on your box and on the network then download it. it should work then.

Mr. Bowling i think the next thing people will be wanting for mw2 is a zombie mode. so the question is will we get one? you said that that the 2 old cod4 maps came in the stimulus package becuz their was a high demand for it. GRRR I wish people would read other posts before complaining! first of all they ARE going to make it so you can choose your game mode, Im not sure when but I know it was after a day for Xbox that they changed it and at a guess Id say we will get the change either by friday or monday when the double xp is over and as for the 7 downloads you just need to download the map pack that has the right code for your game (check your MW2 box) I actually like the random game play but all I can say is if you dont then for now till they make the change just drop out of the lobby when your going into a game you dont want to play, I usually just play S&D but honestly dont mind the change, not like its gonna be forever, wish people would stop complaining.

Once you hit the Mappack option on PSN store, you will be asked to confirm your purchase. Once you do that you will then be presented with the list of downloadable mappacks, of which there are 7. Make sure you hit the right one, which MUST match the BLES code on the bottom of the spine of your case.
On my screen the list is as follows

Make sure you hit download on the correct one, and NOT NOT NOT on the "Download All" button which is at the very bottom of the screen.

Wallet Top ups using Credit/Debit Cards
Some customers were unable to add funds to their account yesterday. If customers tried to top up their wallets multiple times yesterday they should wait a few hours from their last attempt before trying again. As we expect traffic on PlayStation Network to be extremely high over the coming days customers should try to make any purchases outside of peak hours if at all possible (off-peak hours: morning/early afternoon Western European time).
A small number of customers may have noticed PlayStation®Network transactions on their credit/debit card or their available credit limit reduced, but these top ups may not have been reflected in their PlayStation Network accounts. These transactions should be reversed within the next 24 hours.

Problems Downloading
Some customers are experiencing problems downloading or installing the Call of Duty add-on and have experienced error code 80029564. As customers have the option to download all 7 versions of the add-on they should identify which disc they have (disc ID can be found on the spine of the game’s case) and only download the appropriate version for their disc. Where the download or install failed customers should attempt to re-download and install during off-peak hours if possible (off-peak hours: morning/early afternoon Western Europe time)
We hope to resolve these issues soon and we apologise for the inconvenience.

I’m a bit dissapointed. How come the Stimulus Package is listed under game types? Bad implementation if you ask me. They’re maps, not game types. I only play CTF, now I have to play a random game type to play these new maps. Boo! Look how new maps were implemented in Killzone 2 and copy that.

@urmom102 – Totally agree, and i want the other game modes too – have played the new maps a few times, but until i get my FFA, I’ll still be playing the others as well. I don’t know for sure, but going by the xbox experience, the other game modes went live a couple of days or so after the launch, so am assuming the same will happen here, but that is surmise on my part – Seems logical though.
In the meantime, I’d been hanging on to a level 70, but the double xp had me prestige again, so I’m making the most of that in the current maps until I get FFA in the new ones.

@udizzle17 – I’m just amazed they didnt spin Nazi Zombies off into it’s own game – I bet that would sell like hotcakes.
There was just something very satisfying about taking out hordes of zombies, and I don’t know anybody that didnt love those zombie levels.
Does anyone know why sometimes we are getting double experience and then other times we are not. I thought this whole week was double experience.
I bought the map packs but have only played on them twice as I dont like some of the games that they put into rotation. I am going to wait until they are available for all types of games.
For anyone asking about when it will be available for all games, from reading comments on here, they will most likely allow this in a couple of days. However, I dont know how many times you will get to play on the new maps as the map rotation is so messed up that you end up playing the same maps in quick succession. For EG: Last night we played invasion, the next map came up, underpass and everyone skipped it, guess which map we got to play, invasion. HAHAHAHA! Love it.
Looks like they are about to add the maps to the other playlists.

I got the maps they look pretty good my problem is with all of the glitches on the game I dont use nor have used a cheat but it is getting ridiculous when will there to be a beta to monitor and is it true that X-Box,PC and PS3 will be seperated? Much more enjoyable when people play to play not do high speed run/stab or kill ya from half the map with a knife, or if some of these people would just die when hit with 50 rounds from an RPD
why does the new maps not show up on team deathmatch. And if they do it is definitely too far and few in between. Why should i not be able to play what i paid 15 dollars for, the way i wanna play it. Im tired of the stimulus game mode to play what i paid for.
love the new maps cant wait to figure out all the hidey holes (im a wanna be sniper or people may call it camping ??) however (i know people are sick of people saying you cant play certain game types) the games i’ve played on especially S and D where you have to plant the bomb or kill the other team it’s a sickener and just gets totally boring for me personnaly having to sit out the hole game until objective is complete i kno i know people are going to say well don’t get shot then but people don’t work as a team not a lot of people use headsets and when they do its just to piss and moan that someones shot them instead of playing as a team so it turns into a free for all which is not the idea of the game so hopefully (and if anyone has a clue about when i’d be greatfull) they’ll open the maps so we can play what ever we want sorry for probably saying all thats been said probably in the last 20 pages of posts but thought i’d stick my little rant in. . . happy gaming guys n gals
i just played a bunch of team deathmatches and no new maps. please resolve this issue. treyarch did the right thing when they released new maps, they threw them in every 5 or 6 maps. i like the maps just dont feel im getting my money’s worth whenever i have to play them the way YOU want me too. if this is a playstation network thing or infinity ward, please fix it
