God of War fans –
I’m pleased to share some exciting news involving our favorite Spartan warrior. Fresh off his incredible run in God of War III, Kratos will be coming back to PSP and PSPgo in God of War: Ghost of Sparta!
The last time we saw Kratos on the portable platform was in God of War: Chains of Olympus, a game that coupled stunning visuals with stellar gameplay and is still the highest rated PSP title of all-time on Metacritic.com. So what can you expect this time?
First of all, it’s developed by Ready At Dawn Studios, in close collaboration with SCEA’s Santa Monica Studio, so we have the same talented team that brought you Chains of Olympus — they know the franchise and know what it takes to create an amazing game. I can also tell you from
first-hand experience that we are pushing the limits of what PSP can do with state-of-the-art visual technologies, higher resolution environments, and greater depths of scale. We’re also providing over 25% more gameplay, an improved weapon system, and new magical powers — all enjoyed anytime, anywhere.

As for the storyline, this new adventure will serve as a prequel of sorts, picking up where God of War left off. Ghost of Sparta tells the story of Kratos’ ascension to power as the God of War. In his quest to rid the nightmares that haunt him, Kratos must face his dark past to prove his worthiness to the Gods — a journey that will reveal the origins of lost worlds and finally answer long-awaited questions about Kratos’ tattoo, scar, and family.

Oh my lord, what is all this gobbledegook about a PSP2. There had better not be a new PSP announced so soon. The PSP Go is still somewhat fresh, and I’m buying MGS Peace Walker’s PSP Entertainment Pack. If Sony so much as introduces a new model, not only would it crap on the supposed 10-year play (which I’m sure applies to PSP, too), but I’d feel hugely gypped after finally getting a PSP of my own.
In other words, I’d be extremely happy to buy this game on the current-generation PSP.
those screenshots are AMAZING. One question: will the game keep the more cartoony art style as opposed to the more gritty style of Santa Monica’s games? (Chains of Olympus did this) and I thought it was an appreciated uniqueness to Ready At Dawn’s games.

I heard about this announcement at work & got so excited I ran to the storage room to jump around in happiness. I must say I feel a special edition psp go bundle announcement at E3. I really hope I’m right because I would totally buy it !
i always knew three would be the end to the main huge three game trilogy but there would be prequel(s) to come. glad to see ready at dawn is back in the game for ghost of sparta. never bought chans of olympus but looked into it. may as well purchase this when it arrives. any word on development? early? or have they been working on it?

yesssss! I thought the god of war series was over! God of war CoO is my favorite game for the PSP!! Freakin awesome. I beat challenge of hades and the game, and am currently working on it on god mode. Freakin rocks!

I WAS A BIT DISSAPOINTED IN THE WAY GOW 3 CHANGED HALF WAY THRU THE GAME..AND THE FACT THAT ZEUS DECIDES TO MAGICALLY REAPER TO FIGHT YOU IN THE END INSTEAD OF SHOWING HIS FACE AROUND THE ENTIRE STORY IN THE GAME –SO IN THAT CASE I DO AGREE WITH THE WAY “GAMEPRO” RAITED GOW 3 CUZ IT COULD HAD GONE SEVERAL WAYS AND ENDED SO MUCH BETTER–BUT NEVERTHALESS KRATOS FINALLY PUT IT ALL TO AN END…NOW ABOUT THIS NEW PSP TITLE I MUST SAY AFTER ENDING GOW 3 IM HAVING DOUGHTS ON WHAT THIS TEAM CAN MAKE ME BELIEVE–I BEAT CHAINS OF OLYMPUS A WHILE BAK WHILE ANTICIPATING GOW 3 WICH IS EPIC TO ME (BESIDES THE TURN OF EVENTS)— SO WITH THAT ALL SAID EITHER WAY I WILL BE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR THIS ONE—CUZ GOD KNOWS I DO MISS MY FRIEND KRATOS PLUS THE WHOLE GREAT ADVENTURE THAT IT WAS AND HOW MUCH I ADMIRE THIS AWSOME LEGEND IN THE VIDEO GAME WORLD…..(^_^)
I’ll happily be buying this game on day one. Chains of Olympus remains the ONLY PSP game that I have taken the time to complete in its entirety.
On a side note, bravo Sony. You have injected a LOT of life into your dying PSP platform in the last few days.

sony should acquire Ready at Dawn , those guys are among the best psp developers !!!!! if sony is announcing the next God of War psp game before E3 then that can only mean one thing : Sony have more exciting psp titles to announce this E3 ( Uncharted , Warhawk perhaps ? ) lol anyways i cant wait to see what sony have in store for this E3

EPIC! I loved God of War: Chains of Olympus (it first hooked me onto the GOW train) and God of War 3 was brilliant.

we need to compine the go and 3000, to make the 4000go , this would have two analoge sticks that act as L3,R3. with R2,L2 buttens on the top. it would have to be large and a little wide to. but it could still slide. the new analoge sticks could be the same size as the 3000, butt stuk out a little i have an idea with the screen . at the buttom it could slant a little . an in the end it could play ps2 and ps3 games, making it a ps3go in away . but the price isnt going down .
This is definitely impressive news. I haven’t played GoW: CoO yet but I love the console trilogy, and was considering picking up Chains (but my PSP is currently broken). This, I agree, looks to compete with the PS2 graphics of the first releases. Great job! I am definitely looking forward to this…
…but which came first? CoO, or GoS?
Also, about Bungie and Ready at Dawn…I didn’t even know who Bungie was, but now that I do, I certainly wouldn’t say they’re better than RaD…They’re popular enough to be respected as equals, but RaD has been far more innovative to me, so I’d be biased if I had to choose. Fortunately, I don’t, since I choose a game based on individual merits and not merely what game developer puts it out.
Hum Kratos isn’t wearing his God of War armor. Hum that’s pretty suspicious. Prequel story to GoW1? and an adventure in between GoW1 and 2?
this game is gonna be awesome if the PSP can handle it, the graphics in this are between bad PS3 graphics and The best Wii graphics, I don’t think the PSP can handle this with a good framerate or many enemies on the screen at the same time. If you can actually pull this off on the PSP, more developers will come and the PSP will be revived. BTW, I saw a lot ppl talking crap, I heard you were gonna ban them for that

Regarding the just revealed secret website, as a triple GOW Platinum winner, I’d like to say–thanks for nothing. great way to give us something extra for that spontaneous weapon switch w/L1+button (especially annoying in chaos mode).
But in the end, it was worth waiting for that stupid site to update, and GOW crew, thanks for smoooth part 3, and especially thank you for an awesome free bonus DSL of the Apollo and Atlas levels…sarkasm
During the fight with Poseidon in God of War III, he says “Atlantis will be avenged!” and one or two of these screenshots do seem to be in an area that has plenty of water….

What a MAMMOTH of a disappointment. Sony Fans are whining everywhere online over this. I saw it coming.
Am I the only one that noticed that there was one small part that was left out.. The Wooden Plank that Kratos walks on.. (Pic) http://www.supercheats.com/guides/god-of-war-2/images/1-powercore.jpg Its not a big part but when that was left out I was confused caused I like the puzzles involving those, at least in GOW1. I also noticed that there was one in GOW:COO but I just thought that was just Ready At Dawn Studios. To find out there was not even one in GOW3 was like heh?
Anyways, finally I can find out what happened with his eye cause I’ve been wondering that recently especially when GOW3 focused on his face didnt really care to pay attention to it in the previous GOW’s.
