Community Theater Launches This Week in PlayStation Home, 2 Disgaea Spaces Packed with Games

PlayStation Home is about connecting gamers through a universe of games, and this week will mark the launch of yet another powerful addition to our arsenal. The brand new PlayStation Home Community Theater serves to bring players closer to their favorite gaming websites, blogs, podcasts, videocasts (and other media outlets) while further uniting the enormous audience under the shared interest of awesome PlayStation games. This dedicated screen in PlayStation Home’s 10-Screen Theater provides a channel for bloggers and journalists to connect with the huge and diverse PlayStation Home community through exclusive videos specially crafted for PlayStation Home.

This week will see the introduction of our first partners in this new venture — PS Nation. As one of the most respected independent sites focused on PlayStation games, we consider this group of hardcore gaming aficionados to be a perfect introduction to our quickly growing roster of Community Theater participants. Glenn Percival of PS Nation had the following to say when we caught up with him the other day to discuss the launch of this exciting new community initiative:

“Our number one goal was to always include our community in what we do, so what better venue could there be than PlayStation Home? The biggest PlayStation community available! We can’t wait to bring our love of Minecarts, Sportsball, Torgo-Hype, and ‘Trophies Yo!’ to the PlayStation Home community.”

Launching this Thursday, June 10th are two new Disgaea 3 spaces, set to bring Nippon Ichi’s famed RPG franchise into the always-expanding, rapidly-growing, ever-evolving world of PlayStation Home. The first space — The Nether Institute, Evil Academy — contains six Prinnies (“Dood!”), Disgaea trivia games and tests, and more. Mao’s Room, the second space, has two games — including the Netherworld Millionaire card game. Players will also be able to collect a variety of clothing and furniture items related to Disgaea 3 as well as unlock three rewards from the title: gold, silver, and bronze “trophies” for your personal spaces! If you’re a fan of penguin-esque creatures with bat wings and a penchant for exploding when thrown (and if you are not then, really, get a sense of humor!), be sure to head into PlayStation Home this Thursday and immerse yourself in these two new Disgaea spaces.

    Finally! I’ve been waiting about a year or so for the Disgaea 3 space to come out in English! Now that my favorite game of all time has it’s own space, I’ll actually use PSHome!

    Speaking of which, wasn’t Disgaea infinite supposed to be released on the PlayStation Store today?

    Thank you for making Home load faster, I`ve noticed the big difference, I don`t know what the others are complaining about! And the FIFA space is awesome, as well as the goth outfits for us girls. The Disgaea spaces sound nice, does this mean we will get cool costumes from the game? I love their character styles.

    Oh, and I know this is waayyy too early to think about Halloween, but this year could girls get a cool, smexy slim werewolf costume? I know guys had a werewolf costume last year.

    At the people saying that “we never liked Home,” I think that you’re sadly mistaken. We’ve been talking for quite a long time now about the improvements, and some fun adventures. Also, I’ve been very vocal as to how much I like Sodium One.

    Have we been critical in the past? You bet we have! We have opinions just like everyone else. Unfortunately some people seem to only hear the negative comments and ignore the positive ones. The fact is, I’ve checked it out from time-to-time, and have noticed a VAST improvement from when it started. Even with this new venture, I guarantee that we’ll still have negative sentiments toward aspects of Home, but they’ll always be constructive, and our statements will always be backed with explanations.

    I think that it’s awesome that SCEA has made this attempt to connect more with the PlayStation community, and I honestly hope that this is the first of MANY additions they make to the Community Theater.

    If you’re having problems with Home (it shuts off/reboots the PS3) go to the Home icon on the XMB, hit Triangle and delete it. This will delete the application data (not your save data) and the Home icon will still be on your XMB. Once that’s done, click on the Home icon on the XMB and it will redownload the application and launch and you should be fine.

    Happened to me last night actually as I tried to head in to see the Theater space.

    Hello! :) I just have a quick question…. Is there any word on the SingStar V.I.P. space? My friends and I really do miss that spot… it was one of our favorites.

      As you probably know, the V.I.P. is only here for a short length of time, spotlighting a special artist or group with each arrival. It is not ever permanent, so enjoy it each time it is here.

    I’ve been a listener to the PS Nation Podcast for a couple of years now, and was excited to find out that they’ve been given their own “home” in the Home Theater.

    Whether you’re a longtime listener or you’ve never heard of them before, I’d urge you to check out what they’ve brought to Home. The video was very well done, with their typical flair and humor, and a pair of video reviews that were very nicely presented.

    Congratulations to the folks from PS Nation, and kudos to the Home crew as well for continuing to pull in compelling content like this!

    Is there anything in the works to have approved user generated videos/tv shows that were filmed “in world” shown in the community theater? I think it would be really great idea!

    rocks619, threeleggedfrreak, and whoever else, wait until your HDD(yellow) light stops blinking(a few seconds) and then hit x/ok. This happened with a U2 update. Just have to wait a few seconds.

    1. If public chat is too hard to moderate, offer party chat within Home. (the group can all talk through a phone call if they are on each others’ friends list)
    2. Party mode where people can travel with each other, join games together, etc. -Make it social!!!
    3. Play our own music! Why can we not play our own music off our HDD while in Home?!!! Besides how great it would be, Home should showcase all the features the ps3 can do!
    4. Trophy room

    Also, rooms like Buzz and the mp games in the R&C and AC(tower defense game) spaces show the potential of Home!
    In addition, the GDC Move video that was shown in the Theater was excellent!!! Have more stuff like that and tell us about it!

    #80 your copy of Home still says BETA because this is still BETA lol Thats why people get mad at all the complainers who want to fly around and have all these weird things like jumping over benches or whatever.. because this is still in the BETA phase. I wouldnt be suprised if all logical idea requests get put into Home in full version, considering how well Home runs in BETA

    Prolly the most serious thing that needs to be fixed on home is the “moderation” on home. I use quotes cause its a complete lack of moderation. for months the report feature was broken and every1 could see it. the perverts stalkers & racsists ran rampant, they still do with total impunity yet those who fight back receive bans. Its a joke, all microsoft need do is show footage of home and end it with the phrase “on xbox this never happens”.

    In all serioussness. perverts stalkers & racists can harass with impunity and abuse the report to get people banned for fighting back. Yet the same jerks are free to return again & again knowing their unlikely to ever receive a ban for their actions.

    @entoxicatedfox Try deleting and re-installing HOME. I had the same problem, but this method is a cure-all for HOME updates. It’s also a good idea to do this once a month to cut down on the lag when starting home, as it clears the cache of clutter.

    Community theatre sounds kool maybe you can shows DOD’s mini film thats on youtube “playstation home the movie”the guy is a genius personally i thought it was brilliant and as for my other questions here goes blah blah blah music streaming? blah blah blah video streaming?oh yes also the wardrobe save slots just show your head so if you have the same hairstyle on with a couple of outfitsyou cant see whats what.
