MAG Interdiction DLC on June 22

164 2

It’s been just over four and a half months since MAG released worldwide and 930,000 battles, 1.7 million players, and 1.1 billion kills later, the time to expand is now.

Yes friends, everyone here at Zipper Interactive is proud to announce that beginning June 22, our first expansion pack, dubbed “Interdiction,” will be available to players all over the world for $9.99 US (prices in other regions may vary).

“But what’s in it,” you say? Well, for starters, we’re introducing a brand new gametype that we’re calling (what else?) “Interdiction.” Built for up to 128 simultaneous players, Interdiction challenges two rival factions to be attackers and seize control of three command posts with the aid of several heavily-armed convoys on three brand new maps (Lake Bayano Spur, Sovot Motorway, and Iron Cree Quarry). To make it even more interesting, we’ve made all three maps completely faction neutral – allowing all sides to play any map whenever they want – in addition to supplying every squad with their own APC vehicle (that’s 16 APCs on the map at once!). To win, players must capture and hold as many objectives as possible to increase their score while concurrently depleting their enemy’s. In short, Interdiction mode = crazy battlefield mayhem.

A new gametype and three new maps isn’t all we’re packing either. As an extra bonus, we’re also adding the ultimate in MAG protection, our “Heavy Improved” armor set. Trust us when we say that it doesn’t matter if you’re Raven, Valor, or SVER — if you don the Heavy Improved armor consider yourself a walking tank.

Oh, and one other thing, to reward you for spending your hard-earned dollars on our new DLC, we’ll also be including a handful of brand new in-game medals, ribbons and trophies! What are they? Glad you asked!

Ribbons

  • Jump Start – Capture 2 Command Posts in a round of Interdiction
  • Mowing the Grass – Get 10 kills with a vehicle turret in one round
  • Dashed Hopes – Destroy 2 mines with gunfire in one round
  • Cannonball Rally – Become an MVP (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) in a round of Interdiction

Medals

  • Roadside Assistance – Capture 10 Interdiction control points over your career
  • Landscape Architect – Get 50 kills with a vehicle turret over your career
  • BOD – Destroy 20 mines with gunfire over your career
  • Designated Driver – Earn 5 Interdiction MVPs over your career

Trophies

  • King of the Hills (Bronze) – Earn the Roadside Assistance medal while playing Interdiction
  • Red Ball Express (Silver) – Earn the Designated Driver medal while playing Interdiction
  • Road Runner (Gold) – Capture 3 Interdiction control points in a single round

And that’s the Interdiction Pack. Again, you can pick it up for $9.99 starting June 22, but don’t think that we’re stopping there – we still have a lot planned for MAG in the coming months. In the meantime, check out gaming sites like IGN for more on what we have in store!

  • 3 new maps!?! a new game type! OMG!

  • Great deal. MAG is one of my most beloved shooters this generation which makes this a no brainer day one buy for me. Can’t wait!

  • I think its time to unwrap the box for MAG.

    • Please do — unwrap it now — we’ve done a lot of gameplay updates over the last several months, so if you haven’t played it in awhile, it’ll definitely have a different feel to it.

  • Might be time to dust off MAG.

Hasn’t been played in a few months. I was tired of the same old thing over and over.

New maps and game mode = WIN

  • awesome! at first i thought it was just going to be the three maps, 1 for each faction. I LOVE THAT ITS FACTION NEUTRAL!!! definitely going to pick this up. the new mode sounds great too :)

  • @Comment 1
JUST AS HYPED AS YOU ARE! XD
    OMG OMG OMG!
    WOW!
    SVER FTW! (my opinion)

  • hmmmm…new game type and 3 new maps, might have to break out mag again.

  • why cant they just give it to us free? geesh. most probably ended up paying 25 bucks for COD map packs now another 10 for this game

  • Looks good. Why cant they give it for free though?

  • Sick!! Thank you Zipper!!

$10 for a pack with all of the stuff they’ve listed?! Awesome.

I picked up MAG on day 1 and was following the blogs for some time before, and can barely express how happy I am to support Zipper & this game. It’s everything I’ve ever wanted with an FPS experience, since CS1.1, and the continual improvements just make it that much more fun.

  • Excited? Understatement! This is awesome, and $10 isn’t bad (considering all the other free goodies we’ve been getting).

    Thanks Zipper!

  • Good luck getting enough people in the new maps.

  • Glad I traded this in if they are charging for this DLC… the game needed more of this from the beginning; got old fast and turned into unrealistic settings… none the less I can’t wait for Zipper to come out with SOCOM4

  • Thought this game was dead?
it became dead for me after month 1.

my biggest reason why I sold this game:
-the spotting… how there’s a huge red dot above enemies heads everytime they shoot. that just makes the game not fun since everyone can u see then, no stealth is involved

  • I was expecting something like this to have been included in todays update I guess us MAG players just have to brace for small returns for big expectations from now on :/

  • Ludah, if you were willing to pay $25 for one of the most overhyped shooters of this generation, $10 for the best is a steal! Call of Doody has nothing on MAG!

BigRon and B2, get back to easymode shooters, like halo or the above mentioned CoD. Real FPS fans will be all over this.

  • I would like to see more guns available for each PMC in MAG but this is still good DLC

  • Thank you Zipper. Is it just me or did the fog in the sky clear up with the new patch? MAG got me into the whole FPS thing bcuz it doesn’t have politics & drama. I’ve always loved this game since beta. Inderdiction is a must have at a fair price. One last thing, did you guys have to reduce the medals so much?

    • We made a number of tiny updates over the last several updates. Some visual polish among them.

  • Ferrari, I play a sniper/commando and have no problem staying hidden. Try a silencer.

  • Awesome, cant wait to check out the new maps/gamemode on the 22nd. kudos to the boys an girls over at zipper!

  • Another great reason why I continue to play MAG. Great DLC, though this one costs finally, Zipper has to make some money for their hard work right? Great job Jeremy! :)

  • This game has been on life support for the last two months with the online numbers falling lower & lower every week . This dlc was needed two months ago but now most of ur fan base has moved on. Happy fun waiting in the queue for 15 minutes lol.

  • No new vehicles? Damn.

  • Interdiction mode = 16 APCs ramming into each other and getting stuck on every object in the game world at once? =)

Cool DLC. I just hope it works! If anything, we need a Map Pack DLC that is free for the core game players. We need more than just the PMC-tied maps for each game mode. Thanks though!

  • I got MAG last week, really an amazing game, been enjoying it a lot and will probably get this

  • will probably buy this even if i would like a 256 players map but im sure it will come sooner or later.

  • This is looking great keep it up Zipper! I find myself always coming back to MAG nothing compares to the scale of the battles.

  • yeah, Mag got put on the back burner as far as rotation when GOW3, RDR, and MNR were released. But hopefully once the adults get finished with their single player story mode games…they’ll be back.

  • @ 22 i think thats whats coming next after the maps

  • Half the people who’ve commented need to actually know what they are talking about. Ive only been playing about a month, and lve downloaded 3 free dlc packs, havent waited longer then maybe 5 minutes for a game, and have made many friends.
Doesnt sound like a dead game to me.
And for game thats been out for so long, finnaly having a paid pack isnt bad at all.

  • I love your game…..My ps3 just died though….I guess i’m going to have to purchase a new one faster than I planned. Keep it coming Zipper.

  • NICE will be buying this on the 22’nd for sure.

I hope the next DLC will have another 3 maps and maybe a new gun for each faction as well.

  • FANTASTIC ZIPPER! So I guess the 1.7 million players is also an indication on how many copies this game have sold. I hope so! MAG is an fantastic game! IM gladly paying for this FANTASTIC DLC!

Well done! Keep it up and make innovations in this game. MAG can become a big franchise if you guys/girls continue to innovate and support this product. Add stuff and new things that expands the MAG experience.

Look and Singstar and how much it has evolved until now. Allot of changes and I can see MAG to the same.

  • Zipper you just kill MAG not only we have to wait until the end of june to get the DLC but now we have to paid for it . I don’t mind paying for a DLC but let be fair about it . You sold us half of a game in january and am sorry i just don’t see myself paying for something that should have been there . BFBC2 is doing it right with there game , i just don’t see why you can’t do the same .

  • Thank you

that was supposed to be a zipper.

  • You guys are really stupid for charging for the new maps. I don’t mind paying money for new maps, but this is going to split and already dying population, making it harder to find matches. If you guys would have released it for free, you would have reclaimed old players, and would have gained new players.

  • $10 No Thanks, this should be free. I have MAG on craigslist because there’s too few people playing as it is. This DLC will just make even less people play the existing modes.

  • between them, nerfing medics, refusing to actually balance the lmg, and now charging for dlc I am bringing it in today. Good bye mag. It is dead I have also decided I am taking the 60 dollars I have down on socom 4 and putting it somewhere else because Zipper is a dead developer they have proven with mag that they are washed up and cannot do anything right.

  • Might give me a reason to buy the DLC, providing there is enough players.

  • Just got the game and I cant even get into a match :( Not a good start Zipper.

  • Why all the negative comments. If you dont like the game dont play it. Zipper did an awsome job on this. The only thing that is going to pull me from this game is possibly Killzone3 in the fall.

If you cannot afford 10$ you need to change your line of work.

  • Awesome, funny thing is that people are crying like little baby’s about it costing.

You are getting a lot more then any COD add on give you an you get a new armor as well, I got to say that is a pretty good deal and they aren’t overpricing to. Like COD does for 3 maps.

  • Why increase the armor though? You already have to drop a nuclear bomb on someone wearing heavy armor to kill them!

  • great deal for DLC
@43 armor dosen’t do anything anyway, the heavy only reduces damage by 20%, this’ll only be 25%

  • Sweet! Just got MAG in the mail today and eager to jump in tonight :)

  • WHAT!?!? No FREE Tacos?…. Life is cruel… I kill all day and all i ask for is a well deserved meal.

  • I guess they are putting the armor in to change it up. Most people use the light armor.

You can alway knife em. That takes em down fast.

  • 9.99 r u out of ur mind!!!! j/k
Great can’t wait. This is just what MAG needed.

  • @45
Dont Get to excited…. I would start the Updates ASAP, eat dinner, Clean yourself up, Grab a box of tissues, than slowly look at the TV, Tissue in hand and start crying because you now realize its going to take a hour or two just to finish updating.
