121 0

Happy Saturday, PlayStation.Blog readers! The pre-E3 excitement is building as we reveal new details about Dead Nation, MotorStorm Apocalypse, inFAMOUS 2, Killzone 3, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, LittleBigPlanet 2, PixelJunk Shooter 2, stereoscopic 3D gaming, and more news about our lineup of great PS3 and PSP games.

And one game I know everyone is anxious to hear more about is Gran Turismo 5.

Last night, GameTrailers and Spike TV unveiled the latest Gran Turismo 5 trailer in their hour-long pre-E3 special. The trailer features some brand new footage of the game’s gorgeous cars and detailed, realistic tracks. Even if you didn’t catch it, you’re in for a treat because here is the full version of the trailer, featuring a retrospective of Gran Turismo 1 through GT4 and all-new footage of Gran Turismo 5.

If you’ve been a fan of Gran Turismo, you may recognize some of that classic footage from back in the day. Since it first released on PSone, Gran Turismo helped to revolutionize the racing genre of video games, and this year, Gran Turismo 5 will set the bar even higher as the most realistic and comprehensive racing experience — and it’s exclusive to the PS3.

Stay tuned to the PlayStation.Blog and the official Gran Turismo website for the latest information on GT5 in the coming weeks.

I was excited about this game for years, but to be completely honest I don’t give a crap anymore.

Maybe if the game would actually come out I might feel differently, but for now, you can hold on to the 35th trailer of whatever this is.It’s a racing game, what can possibly be in this trailer that wasn’t in the last hundred?

The cars look great, we get it. Now get that game out to people already.

  • anybody knows the title of song? :)

  • @Krait

I don’t know if you know this, but, MARKETING division has the power and CAN say, push back this title ’cause I want that one out before. So, don’t blame Yamahuchi-san to be a stupid devoloper and fans stupid aswell ’cause we wanted perfect damage.

The this is: if GTpsp NEVER EXISTED, then, probably, now we would be playing GT5. I hope it’s clear enoght…

P.s: camon guys!!! name of the song! ;)

  • I was a GT fan. *WAS* is the operative word. Played GT1 like crazy the very night I got my PS1 years ago, played it the whole 2 weeks every spare minute 2 the exclusion of the other 2 games I got wif the system. On my PS2 1st game I played was GT3, then GT4, I still have both systems n those games. I will not be buying GT5, after years of waiting it still doesn’t exist. None of us racing games can play a trailer or still photos posted on the net. You just don’t get it we wanted the game not vapourware. Wake up & smell reality the excessive delay has cost you your fanbase. Its been so long that the expectations that polyphony digital simply cant live up to them no matter what they do at this point. The potentilal GT5 players have moved on to other games that really do exist *NOW* not some mythical science fiction world where maybe, just maybe GT5 premiers on PS9 in the far far future.

  • All these trailers ever are CG footage of the cars. Show some footage of what it feels like to play the game. Tell us what features the game will have besides the number of cars. Confirm that when this game comes out online games won’t take forever to start and that chat is persistent throughout the race. People want to see substance, not CG footage of games, when will developers realize this.

  • Love the GT series as I still own all except the special release. I cant wait for this game, I pre-ordered this game at Gamestop back in early 09! Keep up the work PD, oh yeah any perks for pre-ordering? Thanks and may GT kick everyones ass at E3

  • I’d be great to see a 911 in one of those videos.

  • PLEASE no games install for GT5 PLEASE. GT5:Prologue[if you buy it now]has such a pain-in-the-butt long game install[for the internet stuff as well]times :-/

Apart from that i can’t wait to play it :P

  • cybershinigami87

You know what would be better than a trailer? A release date.

  • Sony or whom ever:
I have lost total interest in this game
FFXIII took a very long time to come out, i bought it…didnt like it. to much build up for something that was outdated
i feel the same about GT now. you took to long

  • Electronic Entertainment Expo…Expo?
Anyways trailer looks great. Can’t wait for the game!

  • @50

You are wrong, plain and simple. Sony’s marketing division is not going to demand GT5….a game PS3 NEEDS out sooner rather than later…..get’s pushed back for GT PSP which is being sold to almost a completely different demographic.

Sony’s marketing division is not going to put a gun to Yamauchi-san’s head and demand anything of him. If Kazonori Yamauchi wanted the game released last Fall, that’s when it would have released. And MAYBE at that point, with alot of other PS3 exclusives coming out, Sony could have adjusted the release date. But it’s stupid of you to think SONY would just decide to push the game back a whole year just for a PSP game. And it’s even more stupid to think they just pushed it back for no reason, which is basically what you’re saying because there’s no way in hell they would delay it for a PSP game.

GT5 is not out because Yamauchi-san doesn’t feel it’s ready and is still working on it. Period. He’s totally obsessive/compusive when it comes to his games, and that isn’t going to change for Sony’s marketing division, or even restless fans that are sick of waiting.

  • @32 go to hell those are my favorite developers they have never disapointed me:)

  • The song is “Big Bad Wolf” by The Heavy. I like the lyrics too, fits GT5 perfectly.

  • Lets try to get this game out in the next 5 years :)

  • @59

Ok, I make it easier for you to understand… PSPGo was the main problem ok!?

And of course, PspGO is an EPIC FAIL from Sony and Sony CEO. They admitted it just weeks ago! And do you remember a “cool” thing? GTpsp was ready for PspGO! launch!!! What a coincidence uh!!!

Cam on, ok! All people in Earth that knows about and is interested in GT5 and GT saga knows it!

Go to GTPlanet.net if you want some more proves of what I’m saying.

By the way, last thing. PD is owned by Sony… so… Sony rulez over PD decisions.

  • @61

    Thanks man!!! Appreciate ;)

  • This game is one of the many reasons why I buy the PlayStation brand! Sure to sell systems for you guys!

  • did i just see vehicle damage or are my eyes playing tricks on me? Please, please please tell me i saw vehicle damage :)

  • @61

Thanks, i’m listening The Heavy now :D I don’t know why, but rock and hard rock is perfect to GT :D

  • WOW I can’t see the video or register with gamspot or ign.
I’m truly sick of your browser getting worse after 20 months….

  • I think its very amusing that some people here actually believe marketing is the main reason why this game has not come out yet. Its like they think GT5 is the first PD game to suffer delays like this.

  • Gran Tur-vaporware-smo

  • Oh my God… literally, most of comments are facepalm.

Some people, actually, maybe, don’t know how a BIG COMPANY WORKS.

Can any of you tell me how the he*** PD could in the World make GTpsp and GT5 at the same time? Please, tell me how, and I will understand.

  • Kazunori himself already gave us the clues. He told us several times that GT Mobile would be out AFTER GT5. Last year, he mentioned in an interview that GT PSP was a big drain of resources, and at times, the entire TEAM quit work on GT5 to focus on getting GT PSP done. It was also clear to me last year at E3 that Kaz wanted to cry, holding that little PSP. SONY leaned on Kaz to support the PSP first, since it was selling fairly well and needed a killer app for the Go, that’s obvious to me. You can argue all you want otherwise, but I think the evidence speaks for itself, as does the stupidity of the suits making that decision. He’s a good company man, as all Japanese are, and won’t criticize SONY. After all, SONY gave him Polyphony after seeing what he could do with Gran Turismo.

Anyway, enough history for the kids…

I love the overview, but Stephanie, you guys need to get hold of a copy of Moon Over The CAstle. The version done by Synthetic in GT4 is also very good. I’m sorry, but “Big Bd Wolf” blows. I actually like the soundtrack messing up. ;D

  • Oh yeah, also can hardly wait for GT5 to FINALLY get released! Other racing games are just… other racing games in comparison. ;D

  • GT5 looks great! I like how u guys showed how it progressed and got better and better.

  • By the way, I also have to question why you post videos on the Blog we can’t even use the PS3 Browser to view. But nonetheless, the video looks sweet. I’d love to put Smoke’s car in Victory Lane after a Daytona 500 Endurance Race (since he can’t seem to do it in real life).

  • Are you guys going to have anything left to announce next week? While you’ve definitely stolen a march on Microsoft and Nintendo as far as having everyone talking about your games the last two weeks while barely mentioning the competition, it’s also a bit like telling your kids what you got them for Christmas in October.

  • How about an HD version of the trailer?

  • GT5 release date, please!

  • Very nice – GT5 is gonna be the shiznit!

  • Cannot wait to get my hands on it. Im SOOOOOO glad that WRC is included in it. Nascar? Not so much. They could have let Nascar have their own game. But oh well, I’ll play everything in it regardless. Im actually played the 24 hours of Nurmburg ring endurance race

  • @Pat_f40
The PSPgo isn’t the problem. You are. I have a PSPgo and I love it.So feel free to enlighten us on just what the problem with the PSPgo is.You can’t complain about the price because they now come preloaded with Gran Turismo or LBP on them, plus bluetooth and a crystal clear display. So Sony owns PD huh?Didn’t know that………………………NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Uh guess what..PD owns the IP so that means they can do what they want to with it.

  • TreasureReserved

Playstation Move integration will be interesting to see. Just a few more days until E3!

  • GT5…comming to E3….almost to a realese date….PINCH ME I MUST BE DREAMING!!!!!!!!!!!! This will be great! They made my favorite car,the Ferrari Enzo, look better than ever!!!!!WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Oh, and @32:You are way wrong. The reason this is taking longer than Forza is because this will be so much better and @35 and 37:you guys are right, but 37, GTpsp wasn’t a bad decision. I really like it.

  • Nascar looks awesome man I’m hoping this full game be 60 bucks? :D

  • LOL!! Wow, a hype trailer for GT5… how many YEARS have you been showing these for this game? It stopped being “hype” a long time ago and has become an annoyance and a slight joke. Seriously, if PD and Sony don’t bring it at E3 it’s gonna make it an even bigger joke. I really hope everyone involved understands this. Don’t let us down.

  • Over 3 years of waiting the game and physical/visual damage affects still limited to only select vehicles?

  • i wonder if resistance 3 will get leaked b4 e3

  • Man i just hope people are getting ready to be let down with the 2011 release date…….such a shame. Gt’s market has been intruded by so many games that selling millions of copies of GT5 is not going to be achievable. The vehicles in the game can be driven on games like Forza and NFS. They tease the nurburgring, yet i can romp a Lamborghini on it right now…Just a shame that Sony marketing dropped the ball on it’s marketing/release window for Gt5…

  • I plan on getting a PS3 when GT5 comes out. I figure by then the PS4 will be out, so a PS3 will be cheap.

  • i cannot believe people still care about this game. i was excited about it. 2 or 3 years ago. but now, i counldnt care less. im sure it will look nice. just like the psp version bahahahahahahahaaha

  • @juggulator

I don’t remember the PspGO coming out with anything free las year. I only remeber the poor Yamahuchi-San with that thing in the hands presenting GTpsp in PspGO launch… So, don’t type stupid things such I’m the problem, ’cause I’m simply a costumer that knows what is talking about.

By the way, I own the GTpsp downlodable version due to the excelent offer of half price, and it works sublime on my PSP1001.

  • Dang, I thought they had footage of a dude driving a car. That crap looks real!

  • Gran Turismo FTW!!!!!! :)

  • Can’t wait for the game…
all you people asking for a release date… You’re not getting one here…
May as well sit tight for Sony’s E3 conference.

  • **Please check out the blog posting from June 11th about the PLAYSTATION MOVE being at the Best Buy locations in the LA Area.

My comments- #67, 68, and 69- showing my recommendations for the pricing and packaging of the PLAYSTATION MOVE and accessories.

Please leave your comments to let me know what you think, fellow PSblog people.

  • This is those the very few who still dont get it, which is primarily polyphony digital & sony marketing. Its blindingly obvious this games total vapour. theres been waaaay to many delays, excuses & empty hype. Year after year GT5 is trotted out to push the PS3 and year after year we wait in vain. The moral of this sad tale is either lead follow or get out of the way.

  • GT is seriously a Big Bad Wolf… now a release date of this summer would shoot it into super stardom.
